A feedback Scheme for Synchronization in a Distributed Multimedia (분산 멀티미디어 프리젠테이션 시스템에서 동기화를 위한 피드백 기법)

  • In the distributed multimedia document system, media objects distributed over a computer network are retrieved from their sources and presented to users according to specified temporal relations. For effective presentation, synchronization has to be supported. Furthermore, since the presentation in the distributed environment is influenced by the network bandwidth and delay, they should be considered for synchronization. This paper proposes a distributed multimedia presentation system that performs presentation effectively in the distributed environment. And it also suggests a method to supports synchronization, in which, network situation and resources are monitored when media objects are transferred from servers to a client. Then a feedback message for the change of them is sent to the server so that the server might adjust the data sending rate to control synchronization. To monitor the situation of network, we use two methods together. One is to manage the level of the buffer by setting thresholds on a buffer and the other is to check the difference between the sending time of a packet from the server and the arrival time of the packet to the client.

  • In this paper, a multimedia authoring system using temporal/spatial synchronization manager is designed and implemented to support easy and efficient generation of multimedia title. For this goal, a flowchart-oriented logic generator which represents a title author's design intent into a practical title composition logic without extra translation process, and a logic interpreter which translate and implement the generated title logic, are designed. Furthermore, a temporal/spatial synchronization manager which manages temporal/spatial synchronization information between media data for multimedia representation, is designed. Especially, a temporal specification model and MRL, a formal language for the model, are designed to synchronize the temporal relation between media objects. The MRL represents a complex temporal relation by simple and clear form, and synchronizes efficiently multimedia representation according to the author's intent. A presentation frame editor which makes coincidence between visible size of representation media and attachment point, is implemented for spatial synchronization.

  • According to the progress of multimedia technology and growth of high speed network, plenty of multimedia contents are produced and in circulation. Because of these reasons, it is required that the method which can manage efficiently and make multimedia contents, for which are saved in Storage as different used, synchronize. In this paper, the metadata schema that can manage the method with being database using each Device metadata that are produced by extracting the needed information to multimedia contents is suggested. And the method that can make synchronized multimedia contents metadata on connecting between heterogeneous devices is proposed.

  • It is required for us to design multimedia synchronization model which present mixed media, tat contains not only continuous medial but also discontinuous media. And it is useful for us to develop multimedia application software. Proposed paper represents model tat expresses continuous media and discontinuous media. And continuous medial show the temporal relations between media objects then discontinuous media spatial relations. The model proposed in this paper is effective in applying the system to guarantee high quality of services and can process real time application form applying efficient multiple key media when events occur. We verified that the proposed model has improved media palyout rate compared with other previous synchronization models through simulation.

  • The multimedia synchronization is one of the key issues to be resolved in order to provide a good quality of multimedia related services, such as Video on Demands(VoD), Lecture on Demands(LoD), and tele-conferences. In this paper, we introduce an adaptive multimedia synchronization algorithm using the level of buffers and load of servers, which are modeled and analyzed by ExSpect, a Petri net based simulation tool. In the proposed algorithm, the audio and video buffers are divided to 5 different levels, and the pre-defined play-out speed controller tries to make the buffer level to be normal in different temporal relations between multimedia streams using buffer levels and server loads. Because each multimedia packet is played by the pre-defined play-out speed, the media data can be reproduced within the permissible limit of errors while preserving the level of buffers to be normal. The proposed algorithm is able to handle and support various communication restrictions between providers and users, and offers little jitter play-out to many users in networks with the limited transmission capability. The performance of the developed algorithm is analyzed in various network conditions using a Petri net simulation tool.

  • An important modelling requirement for multimedia systems is the representation of temporal constraints among several different media that ordinarily arise in multimedia application. The multimedia system which integrates various types of data is required to express voice, image, text and graphic data with simultaneousness or an arbitrary time intervals. The purpose of this study is to analyze the temporal reationships and synchronization among several different kinds of medium. Moreover, it proposes a Multimedia Display-Time Composition Model (MDTC Model) which guarantees a representation of any kind of temporal synchronization among more than two kinds of medium. The proposed model is applied to a company advertizing system. Finally, a multimedia authoring tool based on the MDTC Model is implemented.

And the synchronization problem for the time and a space of the multimedia object which is various exists. In order to solve like this problem point SMIL where it puts a base in XML it will be able to compose the multimedia object expression which is various from W3C standard was proposed. About under integrating to express a multimedia data the individual multimedia object of the synchronization language for and chain with time it will be able to integrate with the multimedia presentation which has become motive anger space in order. In this thesis provides that uses various multimedia object and users integrate multimedia object with synchronization easily SMIL Authoring system that can presentation design and implemented.

  • Currently with development of development and the hardware of the superhigh speed network about increase is spreading out at the rapid pace the many multimedia contents quite from internet. The production environment is growing about the multimedia contents because of such as circumstance, as well as multimedia contents will increase. However, Numerous voice, the picture, with text etc. the time of the same multimedia contents and problem of spatial synchronization occur, started. W3C(World Wide Web Consortium) solves like this problem point presented the method for. Does so, SMIL(Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language) where puts a base in XML(Extensible Markup Language) will be able to compose the expression of the multimedia contents which is various standard was proposed. SMIL the individual multimedia object of chain with time will be able to integrate with the multimedia presentation which is synchronized spatial in order. In this paper a variety of multimedia content and synchronization of the time and space, to be represented by integrating the design and implementation of SMIL authoring system.

System Performance with Synchronization Errors in Distributed Beamforming Systems (분산 빔포밍을 이용한 시스템에서 동기에러에 의한 시스템 성능 영향 분석)

  • Three synchronization issues, i.e., phase, frequency, and symbol time, have to be properly controlled to achieve distributed beamforming gain. In this paper, the impacts of synchronization errors in distributed beamforming are analyzed for both single-carrier and OFDM systems. When the channel is constant over a symbol duration, the performance degradation due to phase offset is the same for both single-carrier and OFDM systems. For symbol timing offset in OFDM systems, high frequency subcarriers are more susceptible as compared to low frequency ones. Frequency offset is critical in OFDM systems since it leads to interference from the other subcarriers as well as power loss in the desired signal.

  • In this paper, we studied the characteristics of digital multimedia broadcasting technology of DVB-H system and we developed a channel estimation and synchronization algorithm in high-speed mobile reception environment for DVB-H system. The optimized channel estimation scheme and synchronization algorithms was proposed and the performance of our proposed methods was analysed in various environments.
