녹지구조에 따른 경관 선호도 (Landscape Preferences for Greenspace Structures)

  • There is little information about appropriate greenspace structures to satisfy aesthetic function in Korea. The purpose of this study was to analyze Korean's aesthetic preferences for greenspace structures concerned with urban tree plantings of an areal type to explore desirable greenspace landscapes. The study considered 5 structural variables of greenspace which were species composition, tree density, tree size, vertical and horizontal structure, and tree layout pattern. A photo-questionnaire was prepared through color simulations of different landscape types for each structural variable. Preference responses of an interval-scale rating from 214 respondents were statistically analyzed between landscape types and between respondent groups. Respondents preferred greenspace landscapes with diverse tree species to single species, higher tree density to lower density, larger trees to many smaller trees, multilayered and grouped plantings to single-layered and sparse plantings, and informal pattern to formal pattern. These preferences tended to be relatively higher for educated specialist and student groups than for other generalist group. Thus, multilayered and dense plantings in natural pattern including larger trees of diverse species, which are similar to ecological plantings, are recommended to increase aesthetic function of greenspace.

가상 절점을 이용한 적층 구조물의 페리다이나믹 층간 결합 모델링 검토 (Study on Peridynamic Interlayer Modeling for Multilayered Structures)

  • 결합 기반 페리다이나믹 모델은 취성재료의 동적파괴 해석에 많이 이용되고 있으며, 최근의 연구(Bobaru et al., 2012)를 통해 적층유리 구조물의 동적 파괴 패턴 분석에도 활용되었다. 특히 실험(Bless et al., 2010)에서 나타난 적층유리 구조물의 다양한 손상 형태(압축 영역, Floret, Hertz-type 균열 등)를 결합 기반 페리다이나믹 시뮬레이션을 이용하여 구현하였다. 그러나 실제 적층 구조물은 각 유리판 사이를 탄성이 있는 층간 재료로 결합하는 반면, 기존의 페리다이나믹 수치 시뮬레이션에서는 층간 재료 결합을 무시하고 각 유리판이 직접 결속되도록 가정하여 층간 재료 효과가 무시되었다. 본 연구에서는 페리다이나믹 층간 재료 모델링을 통해 실제 적층 구조물에 보다 근접한 페리다이나믹 수치 해석 모델을 제안한다. 일반적으로 층간 재료는 매우 얇기 때문에 층간 재료를 명시적으로 모델링할 경우 많은 해석시간과 메모리가 소모되어 비효율적이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 명시적 모델링을 대신하여 가상 절점을 통해 층간 재료를 모델링한다. 수치 예제를 통해 제안된 층간 재료 모델링의 효율성 및 정확성을 검토한다. 또한 압축 상태의 적층 구조물 해석을 위해 단거리 상호작용력에 기반한 투과 방지 기법을 도입하고 파라미터 테스트를 통해 검증한다.

  • Predicting Alpha-helicies, Beta-sheets and Turns of a proteins secondary structure is a complex non-linear task that has been approached by several techniques such as Neural Networks, Genetic Algorithms, Decision Trees and other statistical or heuristic methods. This project introduces a new machine learning method by combining Bayesian Inference with offline trained Multilayered Perceptron (MLP) models as the likelihood for secondary structure prediction of proteins. With varying window sizes of neighboring amino acid information, the information is extracted and passed back and forth between the Neural Net and the Bayesian Inference process until the posterior probability of the secondary structure converges.

Dual-wide-band absorber of truncated-cone structure, based on metamaterial

  • Artificially-engineered materials, whose electromagnetic properties are not available in nature, such as negative reflective index, are called metamaterials (MMs). Although many scientists have investigated MMs for negative-reflective-index properties at the beginning, their interests have been extended to many other fields comprising perfect lenses. Among various kinds of MMs, metamaterial absorbers (MM-As) mimic the blackbody through minimizing transmission and reflection. In order to maximize absorption, the real and the imaginary parts of the permittivity and permeability of MM-As should be adjusted to possess the same impedance as that of free space. We propose a dual-wide-band and polarization-independent MM-A. It is basically a triple-layer structure made of metal/dielectric multilayered truncated cones. The multilayered truncated cones are periodically arranged and play a role of meta-atoms. We realize not only a wide-band absorption, which utilizes the fundamental magnetic resonances, but also another wide-band absorption in the high-frequency range based on the third-harmonic resonances, in both simulation and experiment. In simulation, the absorption bands with absorption higher than 90% are 3.93 - 6.05 GHz and 11.64 - 14.55 GHz, while the experimental absorption bands are in 3.88 - 6.08 GHz and 9.95 - 13.84 GHz. The physical origins of these absorption bands are elucidated. Additionally, it is also polarization-independent because of its circularly symmetric structures. Our design is scalable to smaller size for the infrared and the visible ranges.

LiBr 수용액으로 용해시켜 제조한 거대억새 홀로셀룰로오스 용해 및 재생 필름특성 (Dissolution Characteristics and Regenerated Miscanthus Sinensis Holocellulose Film Prepared by Dissolving the LiBr Solution)

  • In this study, dissolution characteristics of 60% LiBr aqueous solution for Miscanthus sinensis holocellulose in accordance with heating time and characteristics of regenerated films were analyzed. Miscanthus sinensis holocellulose was made by peracetic acid method. During the dissolution of 60% LiBr solution for the holocellulose, the dissolution was started from the tip of the cellulose fiber after about 7 minutes, and proceeded as it swollen like a balloon. A lot of Si was identified by analyzing hollocellulose regenerated film through SEM/EDS. Cross section of regenerated film as dissolution time till 40 minutes of dissolution showed multilayered structure and fiber orientation. But after 40 minutes, multilayered structure and fiber orientation was not observed. The crystal structure of the holecellulose was transformed cellulose I into cellulose II. Therefore, dissolution for 20 minutes with 60% LiBr solution in the condition of $190^{\circ}C$ hot plate was shown as an optimum condition to manufacture the holocellulose regenerated film.

  • Silicon carbide-based ceramics and their composites have been studied for application to fusion and advanced fission energy systems. For fission reactors, $SiC_f$/SiC composites can be applied to core structural materials. Multilayered SiC composite fuel cladding, owing to its superior high temperature strength and low hydrogen generation under severe accident conditions, is a candidate for the replacement of zirconium alloy cladding. The SiC composite cladding has to retain its mechanical properties and original structure under the inner pressure caused by fission products; as such it can be applied as a cladding in fission reactor. A hoop strength test using an expandable polyurethane plug was designed in order to evaluate the mechanical properties of the fuel cladding. In this paper, a hoop strength test of the multilayered SiC composite tube for nuclear fuel cladding was simulated using FEA. The stress caused by the plug was distributed nonuniformly because of the friction coefficient difference between the inner surface of the tube and the plug. Hoop stress and shear stress at the tube was evaluated and the relationship between the concentrated stress at the inner layer of the tube and the fracture behavior of the tube was investigated.

  • In order to fabricate uncooled IR sensors for pyroelectric applications, multilayered thin films of Pt/PbTiO$_3$/Pt/Ti/Si$_3$N$_4$/SiO$_2$/Si and thermally isolating membrane structures of square-shaped/cantilevers-shaped microstructures were prepared. Cavity was also fabricated via direct silicon wafer bonding and etching technique. Metallic Pt layer was deposited by ion beam sputtering while PbTiO$_3$ thin films were prepared by sol-gel technique. Micromachining technology was used to fabricate microstructured-membrane detectors. In order to avoid a difficulty of etching active layers, silicon-nitride membrane structure was fabricated through the direct bonding and etching of the silicon wafer. Although multilayered thin film deposition and device fabrications were processed independently, these could b integrated to make IR micro-sensor devices.

  • 본 연구에서는 무전해도금으로 증착된 구리박막의 열적 및 접착특성에 관하여 고찰하였다. Si 기판에 MOCVD 방법으로 TaN 확산방지막을 증착한 후, 무전해 도금으로 구리박막을 증착하여 Cu/TaN/Si 다층구조를 제조공정하였다. 그리고, Ar 분위기에서 열처리시켰으며, 열처리온도에 따른 비저항 변화를 고찰함으로서 Cu/TaN/Si 계의 열적 특성을 분석하였다. 무전해도금 구리박막의 접착특성은 스크래치 테스트에 의해 평가하였으며, 열적 증착방법과 스퍼터 방법으로 증착된 구리 박막과 비교하였다. 스크래치 테스트 결과, 무전해도금 구리 박막의 접착력이 열적 증착과 스퍼터 방법으로 증착된 구리 박막보다 더 우수하였다.
