To evaluate methods of determining near-surface shear-wave velocities (${\nu}_s$), we derived dispersion curves of Rayleigh waves generated by both passive and active sources in Chuncheon, Korea. Microtremors were recorded for 5 minutes in each of four triangular arrays with radii of 5 ~ 40 m. Those data were analyzed using the Spatial Autocorrelation method. Rayleigh waves were also generated by a hammer source and recorded in the same area for 2 s using 24 4.5-Hz geophones. Multichannel Analysis of Surface Waves was applied to those data. Velocity spectra were derived with relatively high signal-to-noise ratios in the frequency ranges of 7 ~ 19 and 11 ~ 50 Hz for the microtremors and synthetically generated Rayleigh waves, respectively. The resultant dispersion curves were combined as one and then input to inversion to derive shear wave velocities that were compared with a lithology log from a nearby well. Shearwave velocities in the top soil and soft-rock layers are almost constant with values of 221 and 846 m/s, respectively; while the inverse-modeled ${\nu}_s$ increases linearly in the gravelly sand, cobbles, and weathered-rock layers. If rock type is classified based on shear-wave velocity, the inversion-derived boundary between weathered-rock and soft rock may be about 5 m deeper than in the well log.
Multichannel seismic data acquired in Ulleung Basin of East Sea for gas hydrate exploration. The seismic sections of this area show strong BSR(bottom simulating reflections) associated with methane hydrate occurrence in deep marine sediments. Very limited information is available from deep sea drilling as the risk of heating and destabilizing the initial hydrate conditions during the processing of drilling is considerably high. Not so many advanced status of gas hydrate exploration in Korea, the most of information of gas hydrate characteristics and properties are inferred from seismic reflection data. In this study, The AVO analysis using the long offset seismic data acquired in Ulleung Basin used to explain the characteristics and structure of gas hydrate. It is used primarily P-wave velocity accessible from seismic data. To make a good quality of AVO analysis input data, seismic preprocessing including 'true gain correction', 'source signature deconvolution', twice velocity analysis and some kinds of multiple rejection and enhancing the signal to noise ratio processes is carried out very carefully. The results of AVO analysis, the eight kinds of AVO attributes are estimated basically and some others of AVO attributes are evaluated for interpretation of AVO analysis additionally. The impedance variation at the boundary of gas hydrate and free gas is estimated for investing the BSR characteristics and properties. The complex analysis is performed also to verifying the amplitude variation and phase shift occurrence at BSR. Type III AVO anomaly appearance at saturated free gas area is detected on BSR. It can be an important evidence of gas hydrate deposition upper the BSR.

This paper is channel assignment and scheduling techniques for efficient wireless AMI network. In AMI system, the multi-channel cluster network to be proposed defines the communication channel between NC (Network Coordinator) and CDA (Clustered Data Aggregator) as the network channel. CDA and OMD(Out Meter display) and communication channel between SMD(Smart Meter Device) are defined as the group channel. AMI network of the multi-channel cluster based in which the network channel and group channel is mixed increases the administration efficiency through the physical/logical consumer channel clustering. The reliability of inspection data through the channel use distinguished between the adjacent cluster is enhanced. In addition, the fast aggregation of data is possible and the size of a metering network is increased through the channel allocation of the multichannel cluster based.

For the last several decades, high-resolution shallow marine seismic technique has been used for various resources, engineering and geological surveys. Even though the multichannel method is powerful to image subsurface structures, single channel analog survey has been more frequently employed in shallow water exploration, because it is more expedient and economical. To improve the quality of the high-resolution seismic data economically, we acquired digital seismic data using a small air gun, 6 channel streamer and PC-based system, performed data processing and produced high-resolution seismic sections. For many years, such test acquisitions were performed with other studies which have different purposes in the area of off Pohang, Yellow Sea and Gyeonggi-bay. Basic data processing was applied to the acquired data and the processing sequence included gain recovery, deconvolution, filtering, normal moveout, static corrections, CMP gathering and stacking. Examples of digitally processed sections were shown and compared with analog sections. Digital seismic sections have a much higher resolution after data processing. The results of acquisition and processing show that the high-resolution shallow marine seismic surveys using a small air gun, 6 channel streamer and PC-based system may be an effective way to image shallow subsurface structures precisely.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of traditional Korean medical therapy in patients with functional dyspepsia evaluted using multi-channel electrogastrography. Before the treatment, the EGG of 14 outpatients (male 3, female 11) with functional dyspepsia were recorded and their dominant frequency(DF), percentage of gastric slow waves, percentage of Power ratio, and percentage of slow wave couplings were analysed. For 8 weeks, the patients received acupuncture treatment. After 8 weeks, EGG was rechecked and compared with the previous data. After treatment, normogastria was significantly increased in channel 1 and channel 3($53.70{\pm}18.94$% vs $72.64{\pm}15.49$% in channel 1, P<0.05; $79.74{\pm}18.09$ vs $90.86{\pm}8.86$ in channel 3, P<0.05). arrythmia was significantly decreased in channel 3($14.34{\pm}15.21$ vs $5.93{\pm}6.90$, P<0.05). The patients who had less severe decrease in EGG indexes showed improvement of those indexes through 8 weeks of outpatient care. EGG channel 3 was shown to be the most adequate standard of evaluation. But there was no significant improvement in slow wave coupling rate which is a new index of multichannel EGG.

Recently, the electromagnetic techniques of the eddy current testing(ECT), alternating current field testing, magnetic flux leakage testing and remote field testing have been used as a nondestructive evaluation method based on the electromagnetic induction. The eddy current testing is now widely accepted as a NDE method for the heat exchanger tube in the electric power industry, chemical, shipbuilding, and military. The ECT system mainly consists of the synthesizer module, analog module, analog-to-digital converter, power supplier, and data acquisition and analysis program. In this study, the synthesizer module and the analog module which are essential to the ECT system were primarily developed. The developed ECT system is basically a multifrequency type which is able to inject the maximum four frequencies based on the frequency and time domain multiplexing method. Conclusively, we confirmed that the EC signal was processed appropriately in each circuit modules, and the Lissajous EC signal was displayed in the impedance plane.

Flow condensation heat transfer coefficients(HTCs) of R22 and R134a were measured on horizontal aluminum multi-channel tube. The experimental apparatus was composed of three main parts ; a refrigerant loop, a water loop and a water-ethylene glycol loop. The test section in the refrigerant loop was made of aluminum multi-channel tube of 1.4 mm hydraulic diameter and 0.53 m length. The refrigerant was cooled by passing cold water through an annulus surrounding the test section. The data scan vapor qualities $(0.1{\sim}0.9)$, mass flux ($200{\sim}400$$kg/m^{2}s$) and heat flux ($7.3{\sim}7.7$$kW/m^{2}$) at $40{\times}0.2^{\circ}C$ saturation temperature in small hydraulic diameter tube. It was found that some well-known previous correlations were not suitable for multichannel tube. So, It must develop new correlations for multi-channel tubes.

Channel allocation is one of the important issues in the multichannel transmission. In the cognitive radio networks, channel allocation scheme should be designed to improve spectrum efficiency without interfering with the transmission of licensed users. In this paper, we propose a spectrum hole prediction based channel allocation scheme. The proposed channel allocation scheme, predicts spectrum hole by using the channel success rate, and limit the transmission of secondary user's data, and it reduces the interference to the primary user. The performance of proposed channel allocation scheme is evaluated by the computer simulation.
This work investigates the characteristics of brain interactions of experienced Zen-Buddhist practitioners by obtaining multichannel EEG (electroencephalogram) data. Brain interactions were compared among three phases-40-minute meditation (M), 5-minute Chakra-focusing practice (Z) and rest with closed eyes (R). The similarity index S, developed in nonlinear dynamical system theory, was employed to measure the degree of possibly asymmetric coupling. Meditators exhibited, overall, stronger interactions among multiple cortical areas in meditation stages M and Z than in the R state. This enhancement was greater in the M stage when the meditator was accompanied by a thought-free and fully consciousness state. In the high-frequency band (>13Hz), the interdependence was also higher in both meditation stages than at baseline rest. However, the interaction strength, especially in the posterior regions, was greatest in the Z stage, which involved internal attention. Few electrode pairs were observed with significant pair-wise asymmetry in the Z state. The similarity is a possible characteristic of dense reciprocal and strong mutual interactions between multiple cortical areas during meditation - especially in the Z state in the high-frequency band. These results demonstrate that profound Zen meditation induces various dynamic states in different phases of meditation, possibly reflected by nonlinear interdependence measure.

This paper describes a multichannel epileptic seizure detection algorithm based on wavelet transform(WT), artificial neural network(ANN) and expert system. First, through the WT, a small number of wavelet coefficients is used to represent the single channel epileptic spike. Next, 3-layer feed-forward network employing the error back propagation algorithm is trained and tested using parameters obtained above. Finally, 16 channel expert system which is based on clinical experience is introduced as a artifact rejection and reliable detection. The suggested algorithm was implemented on personal computer(PC). Two main events i.e., epileptiform and normal activities, were selected from 32 person's EEGs(normal: 20, seizure disorder: 12) in consensus among experts. The result was that WT reduced data input size and ANN detected 97 of the 100 EEGs containing definite spike - sensitivity of 97%. Expert rule system was capable of rejecting a wide variety of artifacts commonly found in EEG recordings. It also reduced false positive detections of ANN.
