Since the inception of nuclear power as a commercial energy source, safety has been recognized as a prime consideration in the design, construction, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning of nuclear power plants. The release of radioactivity to the environment requires the failure of multiple safety systems and the breach of three physical barriers: fuel cladding, the reactor cooling system, and containment. In this study, nuclear reactor containment pressurization has been modeled in a large break-loss of coolant accident (LB-LOCA) by programming single-cell and multicell models in MATLAB. First, containment has been considered as a control volume (single-cell model). In addition, spray operation has been added to this model. In the second step, the single-cell model has been developed into a multicell model to consider the effects of the nodalization and spatial location of cells in the containment pressurization in comparison with the single-cell model. In the third step, the accident has been simulated using the CONTAIN 2.0 code. Finally, Bushehr nuclear power plant (BNPP) containment has been considered as a case study. The results of BNPP containment pressurization due to LB-LOCA have been compared between models, final safety analysis report, and CONTAIN code's results.

In this present study, the three dimensional shell elements analysis method for exact distortional behavior of multicell trapezoidal box girders subjected to an eccentric loading is proposed. In order to perform the independent distortional analysis using shell elements, it is necessary to calculate exact distortional forces. In this study, the force-decomposition equation for applied eccentric load acting on multicell trapezoidal box girder is derived and the equation based on static force equilibrium and superposition theory decompose the eccentric load to the loads cause flexture, torsion and distortion. So by using this force-decomposition equation and shell element analysis, each behavior can be easily analysis independently. This independent analysis method is very useful to physically understand each major behavior of multicell box girder, especially distortional phenomenon. Furthermore, it may be also very useful for designer to perform the independent distortional analysis for diaphragm design using simple 3D shell elements model without preliminary complex calculation for distortional constants.

In this paper, an optimal power and rate allocation model is mathematically formulated on the forward link of multicell CDMA mobile systems. The model maximizes total utility considering data rates and fairness among cells under delay and PRER (Post RPL Error Rate) constraints. The two-level power and rate allocation scheme is suggested to solve the proposed model. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme provides a good solution in a fast time.
In this paper, a beam ID preamble (BIDP) technique, where a beam ID is transmitted in the physical layer, is proposed for efficient beam training in millimeter-wave cellular communication systems. To facilitate beam ID detection in a multicell environment with multiple beams, a BIDP is designed such that a beam ID is mapped onto a Zadoff-Chu sequence in association with its cell ID. By analyzing the correlation property of the BIDP, it is shown that multiple beams can be transmitted simultaneously with the proposed technique with minimal interbeam interference in a multicell environment, where beams have different time delays due to propagation delay or multipath channel delay. Through simulation with a spatial channel model, it is shown that the best beam pairs can be found with a significantly reduced processing time of beam training in the proposed technique.
Damages caused by torrential rain occur every year in Korea and summer time convection can cause strong thunderstorms to develop which bring dangerous weather such as torrential rain, gusts, and flash flooding. On 6 August 2013 a sudden torrential rain concentrated over the inland of Southern Korean Peninsula occurred. This was an event characterized as a mesoscale multicellular convection. The purpose of this study is to analyze the conditions of the multicellular convection and the synoptic and mesoscale nature of the system development. To this end, dynamical and thermodynamic analyses of surface and upper-level weather charts, satellite images, soundings, reanalysis data and WRF model simulations are performed. At the beginning stage there was a cool, dry air intrusion in the upper-level of the Korean Peninsula, and a warm humid air flow from the southwest in the lower-level creating atmospheric instability. This produced a single cell cumulonimbus cloud in the vicinity of Baengnyeongdo, and due to baroclinic instability, shear and cyclonic vorticity the cloud further developed into a multicellular convection. The cloud system moved southeast towards Seoul metropolitan area accompanied by lightning, heavy precipitation and strong wind gusts. In addition, atmospheric instability due to daytime insolation caused new convective cells to develop in the upstream part of the Sobaek Mountain which merged with existing multicellular convection creating a larger system. This case was unusual because the system was affected little by the upper-level jet stream which is typical in Korea. The development and propagation of the multicellular convection showed strong mesoscale characteristics and was not governed by large synoptic-scale dynamics. In particular, the system moved southeast crossing the Peninsula diagonally from northwest to southeast and did not follow the upper-level westerly pattern. The analysis result shows that the movement of the system can be determined by the vertical wind shear.

In D2D communications underlaying a multicell network, it is of primary importance to ensure coexistence of cellular links and D2D links with minimal interference. Therefore, resource allocation scheme for D2D links should be designed to limit the interference between cellular links and D2D links. In this paper, we propose an effective resource allocation scheme for multiple D2D links which share the uplink spectrum resource with cellular users in a multicell network. Under the assumption that the locations of users are known to the base station, the proposed scheme allocates cellular resources to D2D links, such that the interference between a cellular link and multiple D2D links is minimized. In particular, we compute two constants from the path loss model and then use the constants to protect both cellular and D2D links. Simulation results are provided to verify the performance of the proposed scheme.

In this paper, we present a robust beamforming design to tackle the weighted sum-rate maximization (WSRM) problem in a multicell multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) - non-orthogonal multipleaccess (NOMA) downlink system for 5G wireless communications. This work consider the imperfectchannel state information (CSI) at the base station (BS) by adding uncertainties to channel estimation matrices as the worst-case model i.e., singular value uncertainty model (SVUM). With this observation, the WSRM problem is formulated subject to the transmit power constraints at the BS. The objective problem is known as on-deterministic polynomial (NP) problem which is difficult to solve. We propose an robust beam forming design which establishes on majorization minimization (MM) technique to find the optimal transmit beam forming matrix, as well as efficiently solve the objective problem. In addition, we also propose a joint user clustering and power allocation (JUCPA) algorithm in which the best user pair is selected as a cluster to attain a higher sum-rate. Extensive numerical results are provided to show that the proposed robust beamforming design together with the proposed JUCPA algorithm significantly increases the performance in term of sum-rate as compared with the existing NOMA schemes and the conventional orthogonal multiple access (OMA) scheme.
Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication may provide high spectral efficiency through the deployment of a very large number of antenna elements at the base stations. The gains from massive MIMO communication come from the use of multi-user MIMO on the uplink and downlink, but with a large excess of antennas at the base station compared to the number of served users. Initial work on massive MIMO did not fully address several practical issues associated with its deployment. This paper considers the impact of channel aging on the performance of massive MIMO systems. The effects of channel variation are characterized as a function of different system parameters assuming a simple model for the channel time variations at the transmitter. Channel prediction is proposed to overcome channel aging effects. The analytical results on aging show how capacity is lost due to time variation in the channel. Numerical results in a multicell network show that massive MIMO works even with some channel variation and that channel prediction could partially overcome channel aging effects.
Landfill require special care due to the dangers of nearby surface water and underground water pollution caused by leakage of leachate. The leachate does not leak due to the installation of the geomembrane but sharp wastes or landfill equipment can damage the geomembrane and therefore a means of protecting the geomembrane is required. In Korea, in accordance with the waste control act being modified in 1999, protecting the geosynthetics liner on top of the slope of landfill and installing a drainage layer to fluently drain leachate became mandatory, and technologies are being researched to both protect the geomembrane and quickly drain leachate simultaneously. Therefore, this research has its purpose in studying the drainage functions of leachate and protection functions of the geomembrane in order to examine the application possibilities of Geo-Multicell-Composite (GMC) as a Leachate Collection Removal and Protection System (LCRPs) at the slope on top of the geomembrane of landfill by observing methods of inserting filler with high-quality water permeability at the drainage net. GMC's horizontal permeability coefficient is $8.0{\times}10^{-4}m^2/s$ to legal standards satisfeid. Also crash gravel used as filler respected by vertical permeability is 5.0 cm/s, embroidering puncture strength 140.2 kgf. A result of storm drain using artificial rain in GMC model facility, maxinum flow rate of 1,120 L/hr even spray without surface runoff was about 92~97% penetration. Further study, instead of crash gravel used as a filler, such as using recycled aggregate utilization increases and the resulting construction cost is expected to savings.

The recent advances in wireless networks area have led to new techniques, such as small cells or full-duplex (FD) transmission, have also been developed to further increase the network capacity. Particularly, full-duplex communication promises expected throughput gain by doubling the spectrum compared to half-duplex (HD) communication. Because this technique permits one set of frequencies to simultaneously transmit and receive signals. In this paper, we focus on the binary power control for the users and the base stations in full-duplex multiple cellulars wireless networks to obtain optimal sum-rate under the effect interference and noise. We investigate with a scenario in there one carrier is assigned to only one user in each cell and construct a model for this problem. In this work, we apply the binary power control by the its simplification in the implemented algorithm for both uplink and downlink simultaneously to maximize sum data rate of the system. At first, we realize the 2-cells case separately to check the optimal power allocation whether being binary. Then, we carry on with N-cells case in general through properties of binary power control.
