  • The plastic working process is a well-known molding method to produce products with good mechanical properties whilst reducing material loss and production time at the same time. Among those methods, the nosing process is commonly used for valves, tubes and ammunition which require high mechanical properties since it provides change in shape without additional mechanical process, minimum material loss during the post-process and superior properties. However, high manufacturing cost and time are required for the large-size tubes due to the multi-step nosing processes. In addition, there are some potential risks due to the buckling and property variation caused by the nosing process, too. Therefore, the shell nosing process is investigated and used in this study in order to resolve the problems described previously. Thus, we could obtain the process with lower cost and improved efficiency by means of the shell nosing process.

  • This paper reports a new technology to implement complex PDMS microchannels, which are simply constructed using three-dimensional photoresist structures as mold for PDMS replica process. The process utilizes LOR resist as a sacrificial layer to levitate the structural photoresist and multi-step exposure to control the thicknesses of photoresist structures. Various shapes of photoresist structures were successfully fabricated. Using the PDMS replica method, the three-dimensional photoresist structures are demonstrated to be applicable for implementing complex microchannels in PDMS. In addition, more complex multilevel microchannels are constructed by bonding two PDMS layers with just single PDMS alignment.

  • In this study, using a wet chemical process, we evaluate the effectiveness of different solution concentrations in removing layers from a solar cell, which is necessary for recovery of high-purity silicon. A 4-step wet etching process is applied to a 6-inch back surface field(BSF) solar cell. The metal electrode is removed in the first and second steps of the process, and the anti-reflection coating(ARC) is removed in the third step. In the fourth step, high purity silicon is recovered by simultaneously removing the emitter and the BSF layer from the solar cell. It is confirmed by inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy(ICP-MS) and secondary ion mass spectroscopy(SIMS) analyses that the effectiveness of layer removal increases with increasing chemical concentrations. The purity of silicon recovered through the process, using the optimal concentration for each process, is analyzed using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy(ICP-AES). In addition, the silicon wafer is recovered through optimum etching conditions for silicon recovery, and the solar cell is remanufactured using this recovered silicon wafer. The efficiency of the remanufactured solar cell is very similar to that of a commercial wafer-based solar cell, and sufficient for use in the PV industry.

  • This paper described an analysis of dynamic mechanism for the industrial two-step folding automatic door using commercial software packages. Two modeling types of operating on the guide rail, the sliding one and the rolling, were adopted to investigate effects of impact force when the door ascends the guide rail. The magnitude of impact force was found very peaklike large over an initial duration of the door's moving up. The amount of damping coefficient for alleviating this shock was controlled to such a moderate degree that the operating conditions can be obtained for the purpose of design. Moreover the behavior of both dynamic stress and deformation were observed for acquirement of structural reliabilities of the combined guide rail and rolling mechanism. This research will be a very useful tool in the near future for the dynamic analysis of the multi-step folding automatic door.

  • The evaluation of design is one of the most important steps in design process. However, because in most cases, design evaluation has been disregarded in comparison with other steps and has been performed by designer's subjective judgment. there are few studies for the development of systematic methodology. In this study, we developed the method of design evaluation using the fuzzy theory and the multi-criteria dedsion making model. This method consists of two steps. The first step is to obtain relative importance weights of design evaluation criteria, and the second step is to obtain and integrate scores for design evaluation criteria. AHP(analytic hierarchy process) and fuzzy theory were applied to the first and the second step, respectively. We applied the developed method to the sensible evaluation of cellular phone design. As the result, we verified that the developed method could be effectively used in the evaluation of product design.

  • To produce 4N grade high-purity silica powder from natural ore, the mineralogical characteristics of natural silica ore were investigated and their effects on the purification process were revealed. The Chinese silica mineral ore used was composed of iron and aluminum as main impurities and calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, and titanium as trace impurities; these trace impurities generally exist as either single oxides or complex oxides. It was confirmed that liberation and acidic washing of the impurities were highly dependent on the particle size of the ground silica ore and on its mineralogical characteristics such as the distribution and phases of existing impurities. It is suggested that appropriate size reduction of silica ore should be realized for optimized purification according to the origin of the natural silica ore. A single step purification process, the mechano-chemical washing (MCW) process, was proposed and verified in comparison with the conventional multi step washing process.

  • The stamping process is widely used in fabricating various sheet-parts for vehicle, airplane, and electronic devices due to its low processing cost and high productivity. Recently the use of thin sheets with corrugated structures has rapidly increased for the production of energy devices, e.g., heat exchangers and fuel cells. However, it is very difficult to make corrugated structures directly in the stamping process due to their geometrical complexity. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a multi-step stamping process with a combined heat treatment process: a sequence of the first stamping, heat treatment, and second stamping. By multi-stamping, we obtained successful results in fabricating very thin corrugated structures with thicknesses of $100{\mu}m$; these are applicable as part of a plate-type heat exchanger.

  • Intrinsic and proximity gettering are popular processes to get higher cumulative production yield and usually adopt multi-step annealing and high energy ion implantation, respectively. In order to test the combined processed of these, high energy \ulcornerAs\ulcorner ion implantation and 2-step annealing process were adopted. After the ion implantation followed by 2-step annealing, the wafers were cleaved and etched with Wright etchant. The morphology of cross section on samples was inspected by FESEM. The concentration profile of As was measured by SRP. The location and type of secondary defects inspected by HRTEM were dependent on the 1st annealing temperatures. That is, a line of dislocation located at $1.5mutextrm{m}$ apart from the surface at $600^{\circ}C$ lst annealing was changed to some dislocation lines or loops nearby the surface at 100$0^{\circ}C$. The density of dislocation line was reduced but the size of the defects was enlarged as the temperature increased.

  • A roll forming process for an automotive part of high strength steel is developed. The preliminary flower is generated semi-automatically by an AutoLISP program. The roll forming process is approximated as a multi-step bending process and the preliminary flower is analyzed by the plane strain finite element method. Then, the first flower is selected and modified through the finite element analysis. With the final flower, forming rolls are designed and constructed. Experiments are carried out on a prototype roll forming machine.

  • Piston crown to the hot forge a unified nature of the product has a shape with multi-level step forging process, so if you are not a mechanical professional, this process could lead to a significant loss to the material. Therefore, material technology in minor terms; continue to improve the collection rate that undamaged the product material. The piston crown and the manufacturing products such as marine diesel engines are being forged to reduce costs and to improve mechanical properties. Piston crown molding is a hot forging process that works in large volume forging products. Because of the size of the hard plastic material flow process for improving the design and actual field experience through advanced plastic technology, it is important to interpret the results. Also for many experimental plastic procedures, the accumulation of results is very important.
