This study describes the real-time measurement system which consist of multi-components load cell and linear motor. Operationg and data acquisition is controlled by PC. Multi-components load cell measures simultaneously the vertical force Fz and frictional force Fx when contactors move on sample surface. Linear motor is used to translate with constant speed without vibration. The frictional coefficient is calculated by Matlab$^{TM}$. The frictional coefficients between Al. plates. and fingertip and fabrics are measured.d.
The column-type sensing element in building and mechanical construction parts was designed as three forces and three moments sensor by attaching strain gages approximately. Compared to conventional multi-component sensor, the designed sensor can solve the problem about low stiffness and high cost. The radius of the column was designed analytically and compared with finite element analysis. The coupling errors between components were minimized by using addition and subtraction procedure of signals. The fabricated sensor was tested by using a deadweight force standard machine and a six-component force calibration machine in Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science(KRISS). The calibration showed that the multi-component force/moment sensor had coupling error less than 19.8 % between $F_x$ and $M_y$ components, and 9.0 % in case of other components.

The fabrication method for the main components of the polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell stack such as electrodes, membrane-electrode assemblies, and bipolar plates was established for the effective electrode area of 240 ㎠. A counter-flow type 100-cell stack was fabricated by using the above components and then a maximum power of 7.44 kW for H$_2$/O$_2$ and 5.56 kW for H$_2$/air could be obtained at 70$\^{C}$ and 1 atm. It was seen that the distribution of the OCV for unit cells in the stack was uniform but the voltage deviation increased as the load increased due to the IR drop and the electrode polarization. The stack was applied to the power source of the fuel cell/battery hybrid electric golf car. It produced about 1 kW at a room temperature operation during the test run, which occupied about 43% of the total power required by the 2.3 kW motor.
This paper describes the design of a 6-component force/moment calibration machine with having the maximum capacities of 500 N in forces and 50 Nm in moments. To be used for the characteristic of a multi-component load cell. this machine consists of a body, a fixture, a force generating system, a moment generating system and weights. We have also evaluated the accuracy of the calibration machine. Test results show that the expanded relative uncertainty for force components $\pmFx,\;\pmFy\;and\;moment\;components\;\pmMx,\;\pmMy\;are\;less\; than\;8.6\times10^{-4}$, and force components +Fz, -Fz and moment components $\pmMz\;is\;less\;than\;1.6\times10^{-3},\;2.0\times10^{-5},\;1.7\times10^{-3}$ respectively.
The healing properties of medicinal maggots (larval stage of Lucilia sericata) are widely used in the chirurgical debridement of non-healing wounds including diabetic foot ulcers, venous and pressure ulcers, where classical approaches have failed. Several kinds of wounds are prone to complications coming out of a specific wound bed environment. There are multi-resistant bacterial species present, their pathogenic impact is multiplied by their ability to form a biofilm. Moreover, immunological events in chronic wounds differ from those in acute wounds. Non-healing wounds are cycled in the early inflammation phase with increased levels of inflammation attributes like inflammation cytokines and matrix metalloproteinases produced by inflammation phase cells. Application of larval therapy promotes progress in the healing process to the next stages involving tissue granulation and re-epithelisation. Larval debridement is an effective method of cleaning the wound of cell debris, necrotic tissue and bacterial load. This happens in a mechanical and biological manner, but the whole complex mechanism of the maggot healing activity is still not fully elucidated. Centuries of clinical practice brings noticeable proof of the maggots' beneficial effect in wound healing management. This long history led to the investigation of the bioactive components of the larval body and its extracts in vitro. We introduce a review which describes the immunomodulation impact of maggot body components on the cellular and molecular levels of the wound healing process.
The replacement of damaged components is an important task for long-span bridges. Conventional strategy for component replacement is to close the bridge to traffic, so that the influence of the surrounding environment is reduced to a minimum extent. However, complete traffic interruption would bring substantial economic losses and negative social influence nowadays. This paper investigates traffic control technologies without interruption for component replacement of long-span bridges. A numerical procedure of traffic control technologies is proposed incorporating traffic microsimulation and site-specific data, which is then implemented through a case study of cable replacement of a long-span cable-stayed bridge. Results indicate traffic load effects on the bridge are lower than the design values under current low daily traffic volume, and therefore cable replacement could be conducted without traffic control. However, considering a possible medium or high level of daily traffic volume, traffic load effects of girder bending moment and cable force nearest to the replaced cable become larger than the design level. This indicates a potential risk of failure, and traffic control should be implemented. Parametric studies show that speed control does not decrease but increase the load effects, and flow control using lane closure is not effectual. However, weight control and gap control are very effective to mitigate traffic load effects, and it is recommended to employ a weight control with gross vehicle weight no more than 65 t or/and a gap control with minimum vehicle gap no less than 40 m for the cable replacement of the case bridge.
The spacer grid is one of the main structural components in fuel assembly, which supports the fuel rods, guides cooling water, and protects the fuel assembly from the external impact load such as earthquakes. The nonlinear dynamic impact analysis is conducted by using the finite element code ABAQUS/Explicit. Boundary condition for dynamic analysis is well applied to the test condition. Simulation results also similarly predict the local buckling phenomena. In addition to the buckling parameter, the local buckling cause is examined by both simulation and test method. It is found to correspond well with the test results. Impact tests are also carried out for some specimens of the spacer grid in order to compare the results between the test and the simulation. This test is accomplished by a free fall dummy weight onto the specimen. From this test, only the uppermost and lowermost layers of the multi-cell are buckled, which implies the local buckling at the weakest point of the grid structure.
The main purpose of this paper is to develop the modified LTC code for accurate analysis of the boron concentration behavior of all components in the Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS). This is achieved by adapting a multi-cell mad to the existing Long Term Cooling (LTC) code. To verify the modified LTC, the simulated results were compared with the actual test results measured during YGN 4 initial criticality test. It was shown that the simulated results of this modified LTC were in good agreement with the actual test results. Also, the boron concentration behavior analysis were performed using the modified LTC code for both direct and indirect dilution/boration nude using YGN 3,4 design data. This modified LTC code can provide a valuable information in predicting boron concentration behavior during power maneuvering such as startup operation, shutdown operation and load follow operation. It is expected that the modified LTC can be applied to both on-line and off-line mode using Plant Computer System(PCS).
