  • Complex structures are usually assembled from several substructures with joints connecting them together. These joints have significant effects on the dynamic behavior of the assembled structure and must be accurately modeled. In structural analysis, these joints are often simplified by assuming ideal boundary conditions. However, the dynamic behavior predicted on the basis of the simplified model may have significant errors. This has prompted the researchers to include the effect of joint stiffness in the structural model and to estimate the stiffness parameters using inverse dynamics. In the present work, structural joints have been modeled as a pair of translational and rotational springs and frequency equation of the overall system has been developed using sub-structure synthesis. It is shown that using first few natural frequencies of the system, one can obtain a set of over-determined system of equations involving the unknown stiffness parameters. Method of multi-linear regression is then applied to obtain the best estimate of the unknown stiffness parameters. The estimation procedure has been developed for a two parameter joint stiffness matrix.

  • In this paper, we propose an extrinsic calibration method for a multi-view camera to get an optimal pose in 3D space. Conventional calibration algorithms do not guarantee the calibration accuracy at a mid/long distance because pixel errors increase as the distance between camera and pattern goes far. To compensate for the calibration errors, firstly, we apply the Tsai's algorithm to each lens so that we obtain initial extrinsic parameters Then, we estimate extrinsic parameters by using distance vectors obtained from structural cues of a multi-view camera. After we get the estimated extrinsic parameters of each lens, we carry out a non-linear optimization using the relationship between camera coordinate and world coordinate iteratively. The optimal camera parameters can be used in generating 3D panoramic virtual environment and supporting AR applications.

  • In this study, an artificial neural network(ANN) was constructed to establish the relationship between process condition prameters and the qualities of the injection-molded product in the injection molding process. Six process parmeters were set as input parameter for ANN: melt temperature, mold temperature, injection speed, packing pressure, packing time, and cooling time. As output parameters, the mass, nominal diameter, and height of the injection-molded product were set. Two learning structures were applied to the ANN. The single-task learning, in which all output parameters are learned in correlation with each other, and the multi-task learning structure in which each output parameters is individually learned according to the characteristics, were constructed. As a result of constructing an artificial neural network with two learning structures and evaluating the prediction performance, it was confirmed that the predicted value of the ANN to which the multi-task learning structure was applied had a low RMSE compared with the single-task learning structure. In addition, when comparing the quality specifications of injection molded products with the prediction values of the ANN, it was confirmed that the ANN of the multi-task learning structure satisfies the quality specifications for all of the mass, diameter, and height.

  • The application of focused ion beam (FIB) depends on the optimal interaction of the operation parameters between operating parameters which control beam and samples on the stage during the FIB deposition process. This deposition process was investigated systematically in C precursor gas. Under the fine beam conditions (30kV, 40nm beam size, etc), the effect of considered process parameters - dwell time, beam overlap, incident beam angle to tilted surface, minimum frame time and pattern size were investigated from deposition results by the design of experiment. For the process analysis, influence of the parameters on FIB-CVD process was examined with respect to dimensions and constructed shapes of single and multi- patterns. Throughout the single patterning process, optimal conditions were selected. Multi-patterning deposition were presented to show the effect of on-stage parameters. The analysis have provided the sequent beam scan method and the aspect-ratio had the most significant influence for the multi-patterning deposition in the FIB processing. The bitmapped scan method was more efficient than the one-by-one scan type method for obtaining high aspect-ratio (Width/Height > 1) patterns.

  • This paper numerically investigates the effects of pass arrangement on the flow distribution characteristics and the performance of a multi-pass multi-branch heat exchanger. Four cases of pass arrangement (2, 4, 6, 8 pass) are chosen to select a proper pass arrangement. A JF factor is used as an evaluation characteristic value to consider the heat transfer and the pressure drop. The present results indicate that 4-pass heat exchanger shows the best performance, and the design parameters in 4-pass heat exchanger are optimized. The design parameters are the locations of the inlet, outlet and separator, and are optimized using a response surface methodology. The JF factor of the optimum model is increased by about 9.3%, compared to that of the reference model (2-pass heat exchanger).

  • Multi-bias parameter extraction technique for HEMT small signa] equivalent circuits is presented in this paper. The technique in this paper uses S-parameters measured at various bias points in the active region to construct one optimization problem, of which the vector of unknowns contains only a set of bias-independent elements. Tests are peformed on measured S-parameters of a pHEMT at 30 bias points. Results indicate that the calculated S-parameters is similar to the measured data.

  • In this paper, we propose an iterative mixed norm image restoration algorithm using multi regularization parameters. A functional which combines the regularized l$_2$ norm functional and the regularized l$_4$ functional is proposed. The smoothness of each functional is determined by the regularization parameters. Also, a regularization parameter is used to determine the relative importance between the regularized l$_2$ functional and the regularized l$_4$ functional. An iterative algorithm is utilized for obtaining a solution and its convergence is analyzed.

  • The plane curve approach which was proposed by Boukharouba et. al. is a multi-threshold selection method through searching peak-valley based on histogram cumulative distribution function. However the method is required to select parameters to compose plane curve, and the shape of plane curve is affected according to parameters. Therefore detection of peak-valley is effected by parameters. In this paper, we propose an entropy maximizing-based method to select optimal plane curve parameters, and propose a multi-thresholding method based on the selected parameters. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by multi-thresholding experiments on various images and comparison with other conventional thresholding methods based on histogram.

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the influence of multi-probiotics, fermented ginseng byproducts and fermented sulfone as an alternative to probiotics on performance, intestinal microflora and immunity of broiler. A five weeks trial was conducted with one day old Ross${\times}$Ross broilers (n=340), divided into five groups which further divided into 4 replicates with 17 birds in each replicate. Birds were assigned to 5 dietary treatments as control, antibiotic avilamycin (AB), multi-probiotics (MP), fermented sulfone (FS) and fermented ginseng byproducts (FGB). Growth parameters were recorded on weekly basis while rest of the parameters viz. blood and faeces were collected at the end of the experiment. Growth parameters were not affected statistically by dietary treatments. However, numerically, higher body weight, splenocytes proliferation and lower total cholesterol and LDL values were found in MP treatment (P>0.05). Salmonella spp. count ($P{\leq}0.001$) and E. coli (P<0.001) concentrations in the ileum were found lowest in AB treatment while FS group showed lowest level of yeast (P<0.10) and Lactobacillus spp. ($P{\leq}0.001$). Fecal ammonia and $CO_2$ emission was significantly decreased in FGB than other dietary treatments (P<0.05). It was concluded that multi-probiotics would be valuable feed additives to improve the growth performance, Lactobacillus proliferation and immunity of broiler chicks.
