We propose a lane adaptive recovery scheme for multiple lane faults in a multi-lane-based Ethernet link. In our scheme, when lane faults occur in a link, they are processed not as full link faults but as partial link faults. Our scheme provides a higher link utilization and lower packet loss rate by reusing the available lanes of the link and providing a low recovery time of under a microsecond.
This paper presents a multi-label lane detection method for autonomous vehicles based on deep learning. The proposed algorithm can detect two types of lanes: center lane and normal lane. The algorithm uses a convolution neural network with an encoder-decoder architecture to extract features from input images and produce a multi-label heatmap for predicting lane's label. This architecture has the potential to detect more diverse types of lanes in that it can add the number of labels by extending the heatmap's dimension. The proposed algorithm was tested on an OpenLane dataset and achieved 85 Frames Per Second (FPS) in end to-end inference time. The results demonstrate the usability and computational efficiency of the proposed algorithm for the lane detection in autonomous vehicles.
This paper presents the two-, three-, and four-lane transverse reduction factor based on FEA method, probability theory, and the recently actual traffic flow data. A total of 72 composite girder bridges with various spans, number of lanes, loading mode, and bridge type are analyzed with time-varying static load FEA method by ANSYS, and the probability models of vehicle load effects at arbitrary-time point are developed. Based on these probability models, in accordance to the principle of the same exceeding probability, the multi-lane transverse reduction factor of these composite girder bridges and the relationship between the multi-lane transverse reduction factor and the span of bridge are determined. Finally, the multi-lane transverse reduction factor obtained is compared with those from AASHTO LRFD, BS5400, JTG D60 or Eurocode. The results show that the vehicle load effect at arbitrary-time point follows lognormal distribution. The two-, three-, and four-lane transverse reduction factors calculated by using FEA method and probability respectively range between 0.781 and 1.027, 0.616 and 0.795, 0.468 and 0.645. Furthermore, a correlation between the FEA and AASHTO LRFD, BS5400, JTG D60 or Eurocode transverse reduction factors is made for composite girder bridges. For the two-, three-, and four-lane bridge cases, the Eurocode code underestimated the FEA transverse reduction factors by 27%, 25% and 13%, respectively. This underestimation is more pronounced in short-span bridges. The AASHTO LRFD, BS5400 and JTG D60 codes overestimated the FEA transverse reduction factors. The FEA results highlight the importance of considering span length in determining the multi-lane transverse reduction factors when designing two-lane or more composite girder bridges. This paper will assist bridge engineers in quantifying the adjustment factors used in analyzing and designing multi-lane composite girder bridges.

Most of the mono-camera based lane detection systems are fragile on poor illumination conditions. In order to compensate limitations of single sensor utilization, lane information fusion system using multiple lane sensors is an alternative to stabilize performance and guarantee high precision. However, conventional fusion schemes, which only concerns object detection, are inappropriate to apply to the lane information fusion. Even few studies considering lane information fusion have dealt with limited aids on back-up sensor or omitted cases of asynchronous multi-rate and coverage. In this paper, we propose a lane information fusion scheme utilizing multiple lane sensors with different coverage and cycle. The precise lane information fusion is achieved by the proposed fusion framework which considers individual ranging capability and processing time of diverse types of lane sensors. In addition, a novel lane estimation model is proposed to synchronize multi-rate sensors precisely by up-sampling spare lane information signals. Through quantitative vehicle-level experiments with around view monitoring system and frontal camera system, we demonstrate the robustness of the proposed lane fusion scheme.

The Electronic Toll Collection System based on Free-Flow Multi-Lane is needed to solve some yearly problems such as traffic congestion, safety accident, maintenance by hold-up of one way hi-pass system. The hi-pass communication system is first-in, first-out method in one way environment so, it can't handle various running patterns such as vehicle platoon, switching lane and passing in multi-lane environment. In this thesis we compared and analyzed the communication system of foreign countries ETCS operating system and domestic hi-pass communication system, then studied communication system which can run in multiple-way accepting existing hi-pass OBU. And we formed the communication system of Free-Flow Multi-Lane environment as a plan using incoherent of IR antenna and coherent of RF antenna. The communication system in Free-Flow Multi-Lane environment can be used not alone in parking garages but in expressways of ETCS and toll roads from now on.
It is very important to analyze the capacity of basic freeway section in terms of planning, design, and operation of roads. Capacity, in Korean Highway Capacity Manual was Published in 1992, had been determined by data collected in only 4-lane freeway. But, Korea is continuously planning and constructing multi-lane roads for increasing traffic demand. For this reason, it is necessary to determine the capacity for multi-lane freeways. This study goals are two-fold the determination of lane capacity for 8-lane freeway; and the development of methodology determining total capacity using lane friction factor This study utilized the data collected by loop detectors at a station of FTMS in Kyungbu expressway. For determining capacities, this study analyzed maximum flow rate in various aspects such as collecting period, each lane, and total lane in one-way. In addition, this study evaluated the breakdown in traffic flow relations in order to find out interrelation of breakdown among lanes. Through this analysis, this study determined lane friction factors, critical speed, and critical density. Finally, this study expressed a new methodology of capacity analysis for multi-lane freeways using some findings from this analysis.
In order to overcome the limitations of the mobile speed system for 1 lane, this study is used a multi-laser beam to develop a mobile speed measuring system, using a multi-phase beam. By using multi-laser beam, least squares algorithms and speed error processing algorithms were developed to improve speed accordancy and speed error rates compared to conventional mobile speed meters using a single laser beam. A field test showed that 80.0 percent of 3 lane and 87.0 percent of 4 lane were appropriate for the mobile speed system. With the development of the mobile speed measuring system, it is expected to dramatically reduce the accidents caused by the speed of traffic. It is also expected to effectively operate equipment and manage the cost by improving manpower and providing improved enforcement accuracy, by contributing positively to public institution and public affairs.

Multi-lane detection is useful for the smart navigation system. In this paper, a novel multi-lane detection method is presented. The proposed three point Laplacian filter (TPLF) can complement the weak points of the previous box filter and step filter. The experimental results validate the feasibility of the proposed multi-lane detection method.
The purpose of this study is to calculate and propose rational multi-lane loading factors for bridge design considering the probability of simultaneous truck passing in adjacent lanes and real truck weights. The probability of simultaneous truck passing is calculated by analyzing video image taken at various locations in highways and national roads. Weigh-In-Motion system data at two locations are used, which is combined with the probability of multiple presence to calculate the multi-lane loading factors for typical 2 lane and 5 lane bridges. Statistical properties of multi-lane loading factors are also calculated assuming that locations for video images and WIM data represent the overall traffic condition in the country. Results are compared with various design codes in the world and they show that the values are between the current Korea Bridge Design Code and AASHTO LRFD specification or Eurocode and are similar to Canadian Code.

In this paper, we present model predictive control (MPC) applied to lane keeping system (LKS) based on a vision module. Due to a slow sampling rate of the vision system, the conventional LKS using single rate control may result in uncomfortable steering control rate in a high vehicle speed. By applying MPC using multi-rate Kalman filter to active steering control, the proposed MPC-based active steering control system prevents undesirable saturated steering control command. The effectiveness of the MPC is validated by simulations for the LKS equipped with a camera module having a slow sampling rate on the curved lane with the minimum radius of 250[m] at a vehicle speed of 30[m/s].
