  • A three-dimensional multi-phase flow is simulated around a smooth tire. This simulation is conducted by solving Navier-Stokes equation with a k-$\varepsilon$ turbulent model. The numerical calculations are carried out by modeling a multi-phase free surface flow mixed with air and water at the inlet. The numerical solutions show an intuitively resonable behavior of water around a moving tire. The calculated pressure around the tire surface along the moving direction is presented. The moving velocities of the tire are chosen to be 30, 40, 60, and 70 km/h. The numerically simulated pressures around the tire are compared with existing experimental data. The comparison shows a new possible tool of analyzing a hydroplaning phenomenon for an automobile tire by means of a computational fluid dynamics.

  • The multi-dimensional two-phase flow models were developed for analyze the multi-dimensional behaviors or nuclear systems. To verify the simple turbulence model, The single phase mixing problem in a rectangular slab was calculated and compared with the commercial CFD code results. That result shows a good agreement with the CFD result. And the RPI Air-water experiments were simulated to assess the two-phase turbulence model in the multi-dimensional component. The first calculated distribution or void-fraction is highly dispersed and diffusive. It was revealed that the main reason is undesirable stratification force in a horizontal stratified flow regimes. Therefore the horizontally stratified flow regime is deleted because the stratified flow regime is not expected in multi-dimensional flow. With the modification of the flow regime, the predicted flow patterns and void fraction profiles are in good agreement with the measured data.

  • This study investigated the influences of experiential marketing components on shopping flow, store satisfaction, and purchase intention in fashion complex culture stores. The mediating effects of shopping flow and store satisfaction were also explored in the relationship between experiential marketing components of fashion multi-tasking culture stores and purchase intention. An online survey was conducted with male and female shoppers between the ages of 20 and 30 in Shanghai, China who visited fashion multi-tasking culture stores. Data from 165 participants were analyzed employing SPSS 24.0 and AMOS 24.0. There were several meaningful results of this study. First, the analysis of the subdimension of experiential marketing components (Sense, Feel, Think, and Act-Relate) clearly showed a factorial construct. Second, the components of experiential marketing showed significantly positive effects on shopping flow and store satisfaction in the fashion multi-tasking culture store. Third, the shopping flow and store satisfaction played important medicating roles in the relationship between experiential marketing components (Act-Relate on shopping flow, Sense and Act-Relate on store satisfaction) and purchase intention. The results suggest that experiential marketing components with shopping flow and store satisfaction should be promoted among Chinese consumers to enhance purchase intentions in fashion multi-tasking culture stores.

  • The object of this study is to investigate the performance characteristics of refrigerators using a single-circuit multi cycle and a bypass two-circuit multi cycle. Each refrigeration cycle was tested by varying secondary fluid mass flow rate and temperature. Based on the experimental data, the optimum refrigerant charge was 48 g and the COP at the optimum secondary fluid mass flow rate was 1.53 for the single-circuit multi cycle. For freezer(F)-only mode, both the single-circuit multi cycle and the bypass two-circuit multi cycle were operated at overcharge conditions, resulting in an increase of the secondary fluid mass flow rate. The maximum COPs of the single-circuit multi cycle and the bypass two-circuit multi cycle were 1.22 and 1.35, respectively. The COP increased by 10.7% with the application of the bypass two-circuit multi cycle.

  • A numerical study for a two dimensional multi-jet with crossflow of the spent fluid has been carried out. Three different distributions of mass-flow rate at 5 jet exits were assumed to see their effects upon the flow characteristics, especially in the jet-flow region. For each distribution, various Reynolds numbers ranging from laminar to turbulent flows were considered. Results show that a fully developed laminar flow exists above a certain Reynolds number whose exact value depends upon the mass flow rate distribution. AS the Reynolds number increases, the flow becomes transitional from downstream and finally a fully developed turbulent flow forms in the jet-flow region. The critical Reynolds number where the fully developed turbulent flow forms is quite dependent upon the distribution of mass-flow rate. One interesting result is that the distribution of the skin friction coefficient along the inpingement plate in the jet-flow region shows a consistent dependency on the Reynolds number, i.e. inversely proportional to the square root of the Reynolds number, regardless of flow regime.

  • Flow visualization and PIV measurements were conducted to investigate the flow characteristics of multi-channel with inclination angle. The water flow seeded with tiny vegetable powder as tracers revealed details of flow field. The PIV measurement to acquire multi-point velocity data simulatneously was carried out at three space of plates for 5, 10, and 15mm with variation of inlet flow rates of $0.25m^3/h$ and <$0.5m^3/h.$ Experiment results show that space of plates acts a significant role in separating process.

  • Resin transfer molding (RTM) is one of the most popular processes for producing fiber reinforced polymer composites. In the manufacture of complex thick composite structures, analysis on flow front advancement on the resin impregnating the multi-layered fiber preform is helpful for the optimization of the process. In this study, three-dimensional mold filling simulation of RTM is carried out by using CVFEM (Control Volume Finite Element Method). On the assumption of isothermal flow of Newtonian fluid, Darcy’s law and continuity equation are used as governing equations. Different permeability tensors employed in each layer are obtained by experiments. Numerically predicted flow front is compared with experimental one in order to validate the numerical results. Flow simulations are conducted in the two mold geometries, rectangular plate and hollow cylinder. Permeability tensor of each layer preform in Cartesian coordinate system is transformed to cylinder coordinates system so that the flow within the multi-layered preforms of the hollow cylinder can be calculated exactly. Our emphasis is on the three dimensional flow analysis for circular three-dimensional braided preform, which shows outstanding mechanical properties such as high impact strength and toughness compared with other conventional two-dimensional laminar-structured preforms.

  • Control flow errors are caused by the vulnerability of memory and result in system failure. Signature-based control flow monitoring is a representative method for alleviating the problem. The method commonly consists of two routines; one routine is signature update and the other is signature verification. However, in the existing signature-based control flow monitoring, monitoring target application is tightly combined with the monitoring code, and the operation of monitoring in a single thread is the basic model. This makes the signature-based monitoring method difficult to expect performance improvement that can be taken in multi-thread and multi-core environments. In this paper, we propose a new signature-based control flow monitoring model that separates signature update and signature verification in thread level. The signature update is combined with application thread and signature verification runs on a separate monitor thread. In the proposed model, the application thread and the monitor thread are separated from each other, so that we can expect a performance improvement that can be taken in a multi-core and multi-thread environment.

Calculations drew the following items as conclusion. 1) The development of the free jets issued from downstream jets was hindered by the crossflow formed due to jets. Consequently, the free jet was developed into the channel flow without any evident symptom of impingement jet flow characteristics 2) The crossflow induced the pressure gradient along the cross section of jet exits and the value of the pressure gradient increased as going downstream. The crossflow generated also the turbulent kinetic energy as it collied with the downstream jets. 3) The skin friction coefficient along the impingement plate was affected more by the distribution of mass flow rate at jet exits rather than by the Reynolds number. The skin friction coefficient was inversely proportional to the square root of the Reynolds number, regardless of flow regime when a fully developed flow was formed in the jet flow region. 4) The distribution of the skin friction coefficient along the impingement plate was found to be controlled by adjusting the distribution of mass flow rate at jet exits.

  • Long and slender body with or without flexible supports under severe operating condition can be unstabilized even by the small cross flow. Turbulent flow mixer, which actually increases thermal-hydraulic performance of the nuclear fuel by boosting turbulence, disturbs the flow field around the fuel rod and affects dynamic behavior of the nuclear fuel rods. Few studies on this problem can be found in the literature because these effects depend on the specific natures of the support and the design of the system. This work shows how the dynamics of a multi-span fuel rod can be affected by the turbulent flow, which is discretely activated by a flow mixer. By solving a state-space form of the eigenvalue equation for a multi-span fuel rod system, the critical velocity at which a fuel rod becomes unstable was established. Based on the simulation results, we evaluated how stability of a multi-spanned nuclear fuel rod with mixing vanes can be affected by the coolant flow in an operating reactor core.
