We investigated the dynamical properties of the K2-3 multi-planet system. Recently three transiting planets are discovered using the extended Kepler2 (K2) mission (Crossfield et al. 2015). We extended their preliminary stability study by considering a substantial longer integration time. Since planet mass is not known from photometry we calculated exoplanets masses using empirical mass-radius relations (Weiss & Marcy 2014). Forward numerical integration was done using the MERCURY integration package (Chambers 1999). Our results demonstrate that this system is stable over a time scale of $10^8years$. Furthermore, we investigated the dynamical effects of a hypothetical planet in the semi-major axis vs eccentricity space. For stable orbits of the hypothetical planet we calculated transit-timing variation (TTV) and radial velocity signals. We find that for a hypothetical perturber with mass 1-13 Mjup, semi-major axis 0.2 - 0.8 AU and eccentricity 0.00-0.47 the following timing signals for the planet K2-3 b is ~ 5 sec, K2-3 c is ~ 130 sec and for K2-3 d is ~ 190 sec. The radial velocity signal of the hypothetical planet is ~ 4 m/s. Using typical transit-timing errors from the K2 mission, we find that the above hypothetical planet would not be detectable. Its radial velocity signal, however, would be detectable using the APF 2.4m telescope or HARPS at the ESO/La Silla Observatory in Chile.
The effective reflection coefficients of an obliquely incident wave on a multi-layered substrate coated with a uniaxially anisotropic alignment layer are derived. The effective reflection coefficients as well as explicit ellipsometric expressions are provided as a function of film constants of multiple layers together with magnitude of anisotropy, direction of optic axis, and thickness of the alignment layer. It is expected that by adapting these expressions to the conventional modelling technique, the ordinary refractive index, the extra-ordinary refractive index, the azimuth angle and the tilt angle of the optic axis, and the thickness of the aligned surface can be determined simultaneously together with the thickness and volume fraction of each layer beneath the alignment layer.
Multi-dimensionality in the inner working of core-collapse supernovae has long been considered one of the most important ingredients to understand the explosion mechanism. We perform a series of numerical experiments to explore how rotation impacts the 3-dimensional hydrodynamics of core-collapse supernova. We employ a light-bulb scheme to trigger explosions and a three-species neutrino leakage scheme to treat deleptonization effects and neutrino losses from the neutron star interior. We find that the rotation can help the onset of neutrino-driven explosions for models in which the initial angular momentum is matched to that obtained from recent stellar evolutionary calculations (${\sim}0.3-3rad\;s^{-1}$ at the center). For models with larger initial angular momenta, a shock surface deforms to be oblate due to larger centrifugal force. This makes a gain region, in which matter gains energy from neutrinos, more concentrated around the equatorial plane. As a result, the preferred direction of the explosion in 3-dimensional rotating models is perpendicular to the spin axis, which is in sharp contrast to the polar explosions around the axis that are often obtained from 2-dimensional simulations.
Lately, ocean nuclear power plants have attracted attention as one of diverse uses of nuclear power plants. Because ocean nuclear power plants are movable or transportable, it is necessary to analyze the thermal hydraulics in a moving frame of reference, and computer codes have been developed to predict thermal hydraulics in large moving systems. The purpose of this study is to incorporate a three dimensional dynamic motion model into the SPACE code (Safety and Performance Analysis CodE) so that the code is able to analyze thermal hydraulics in an ocean nuclear power plant. A rotation system that describes three-dimensional rotations about an arbitrary axis was implemented, and modifications were made to the one-dimensional momentum equations to reflect the rectilinear and rotational acceleration effects. To demonstrate the code's ability to solve a problem utilizing a rotational frame of reference, code calculations were conducted on various conceptual problems in the two-dimensional and three-dimensional pipeline loops. In particular, the code results for the three-dimensional pipeline loop with a tilted rotation axis agreed well with the multi-dimensional CFD results.

In order to improve in quality and productivity using the CNC machine tools, it has been endeavored to elevate production process by adding supplementary axes(2 axes) to 2,3 axial CNC machine tools. It is because the movement between the progress of work in processed goods is remarkably decreased more than that of general CNC machine tools that productivity improvement with precision maintenance can be improved. VBScript in CAD/CAM is applied to utilize CNC machine tools added supplementary axes so that Multi-axial &Multi-process manufacturin g program can be conveniently drawn up. However, there is generally much skilful work and operation by the manual program of CAD(2.5D) and CNC machine tools in the filed. As a result of conducting an experiment by COM-filing VBScript at the spot of Insert Tip for milling Face Cutter in CAD/CAM Software(2.5D), it was not only timesaving to draw up program but also more convenient than complicated Multi CAD/CAM Software to approach and possible to program various products instantaneously.

The SRP (Solar Radiation Pressure) model has always been an issue in the dynamic GPS (Global Positioning System) orbit determination. The widely used CODE (Center for Orbit Determination in Europe) model and its variants have nine parameters to estimate the solar radiation pressure from the Sun and to absorb the remaining forces. However, these parameters show a very high correlation with each other and, therefore, only several of them are estimated at most of the IGS (International GNSS Service) analysis centers. In this study, we attempted to numerically verify the correlation between the parameters. For this purpose, a bi-directional, multi-step numerical integrator was developed. The correlation between the SRP parameters was analyzed in terms of post-fit residuals of the orbit. The integrated orbit was fitted to the IGS final orbit as external observations. On top of the parametric analysis of the SRP parameters, we also verified the capabilities of orbit prediction at later time epochs. As a secondary criterion for orbit quality, the positional discontinuity of the daily arcs was also analyzed. The resulting post-fit RMSE (Root-Mean-Squared Error) shows a level of 4.8 mm on average and there is no significant difference between block types. Since the once-per-revolution parameters in the Y-axis are highly correlated with those in the B-axis, the periodic terms in the D- and Y-axis are constrained to zero in order to resolve the correlations. The 6-hr predicted orbit based on the previous day yields about 3 cm or less compared to the IGS final orbit for a week, and reaches up to 6 cm for 24 hours (except for one day). The mean positional discontinuity at the boundary of two 1-day arcs is on the level of 1.4 cm for all non-eclipsing satellites. The developed orbit integrator shows a high performance in statistics of RMSE and positional discontinuity, as well as the separations of the dynamic parameters. In further research, additional verification of the reference frame for the estimated orbit using SLR is necessary to confirm the consistency of the orbit frames.

This paper proposes a fuzzy logic cross-coupled controller using a new contouring modeling for a two-axis servo system. The general decoupled control approach may result in degraded contouring performance due to such factors as mismatch of axial dynamics and axial loop gains. In practice, such systems contain many uncertainties. The cross-coupled controller utilizes all axis position error information simultaneously to produce accurate contours. However, the conventional cross-coupled controllers cannot overcome friction, backlash, and parameter variations. Also since, it is difficult to obtain an accurate mathematical model of multi-axis system, here we investigate a fuzzy logic cross-coupled controller of servo system. In addition, new contouring error vector computation method is presented. The experimental results are presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed algorithm.

Due to global warming, the need to secure alternative resources has become more important nationally. Because of the very strong current on the west coast, with a tidal range of up to 10 m, there are many suitable sites for the application of TCP (tidal current power) in Korea. In the southwest region, a strong current is created in the narrow channels between the numerous islands. A rotor is an essential component that can convert tidal current energy into rotational energy to generate electricity. The design optimization of a rotor is very important to maximize the power production. The performance of a rotor can be determined using various parameters, including the number of blades, shape, sectional size, diameter, etc. There are many offshore jetties and piers with high current velocities. Thus, a VAT (vertical axis turbine) system, which can generate power regardless of flow direction changes, could be effectively applied to cylindrical structures. A VAT system could give an advantage to a caisson-type breakwater because it allows water to circulate well. This paper introduces a multi-layer vertical axis tidal current power system. A Savonius turbine was designed, and a performance analysis was carried out using CFD. A physical model was also demonstrated in CWC, and the results are compared with CFD.

In this paper, we describe correspondence among multiple images taken by multiple cameras. The correspondence among multiple views is an interesting problem which often appears in the application like visual surveillance or gesture recognition system. We use the principal axis and the ground plane homography to estimate foot of human. The principal axis belongs to the subtracted silhouette-based region of human using subtraction of the predetermined multiple background models with current image which includes moving person. For the calculation of the ground plane homography, we use landmarks on the ground plane in 3D space. Thus the ground plane homography means the relation of two common points in different views. In the normal human being, the foot of human has an exactly same position in the 3D space and we represent it to the intersection in this paper. The intersection occurs when the principal axis in an image crosses to the transformed ground plane from other image. However the positions of the intersection are different depend on camera views. Therefore we construct the correspondence that means the relationship between the intersection in current image and the transformed intersection from other image by homography. Those correspondences should confirm within a short distance measuring in the top viewed plane. Thus, we track a person by these corresponding points on the ground plane. Experimental result shows the accuracy of the proposed algorithm has almost 90% of detecting person for tracking based on correspondence of intersections.
