Improved MPEG-Audio Coding Method (MPEG 오디오 부호화 바업의 성능 향상)

  • ISO/MPEG 에서는 스테레오 신호만을 부호화할 수 있는 MPEG-1 오디오 부호화 방법을 5.1 채널의 다채널 신호로 확장한 MPEG-2 오디오 방법을 제안하였다. 압축해야 될 신호가 증가하면서 MPEG에서는 채널 내의 부호화 방법으로는 MPEG-1에서 제안된 방법을 사용하고, 부가적으로 채널 간의 부호화 방법을 이용하여 MPEG-1과 호환이 가능하도록 하는 부호화 방법을 다방면에 걸쳐서 연구하여 표준화 작업을 진행하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 MPEG 오디오 부호화 방법을 두가지 측면에서 효율적으로 향상시키는 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 첫 번째는 MPEG에서 제안한 오디오 부호화 알고리듬을 개선하여 음질과 비트율에 있어 향상시키는 것으로 각 서브밴드의 비트 할당 방법과 시간 영역에서의 마스킹 효과 등을 사용한 심리음향 모델 등의 개선 방법이 제안되었다. 두 번째 방법은 부호화기의 계산량을 감소시키는 방법으로 심리음향 모델이나 비트 할당시의 계산과정에 있어 반복적인 과정은 시간 여역에서의 중복성을 이용하여 계산량에 대한 향상을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • To use multimedia contents in restricted resources, any management method of MPEG-7 documents is needed. At this time, some XML clustering methods can be used. But, to improve the performance efficiency better, new clustering method which uses the characteristics of MPEG-7 documents is needed. In this paper, we suggest a new clustering method to manage MPEG-7 documents efficiently, which uses some semantic relationships among elements of MPEG-7 documents. And also we compare it to the existed clustering methods.

  • Technology for compressing low-bitrate multichannel audio coding should be developed owing to the increasing need of consumer for multichannel audio contents and services. To meet this requirement, MPEG has standardized MPEG Surround. In this paper, we introduce status on MPEG Surround standardization and analyze techniques adopted in the current MPEG Surround.

  • MPEG-4 is an international standard for interactive multimedia data that is used for next generation audio-visual service. It presents an two types of storage formal such as XMT (eXtensible MPEG-4 Textual fount) and MP4 file format D store the interactive multimedia contents. The XMT, a textual format, has advantage of readability and it can be used in many applications since designed based on the XML In this paper, we present the way how to author the MPEG-4 contents using XMT.

  • MPEG-4 디지털 콘텐츠는 통신, 컴퓨터, 방송, 모바일 등의 다양한 분야에서 멀티이디어 데이터를 처리하기 위한 표준으로 자리 잡고 있다. 하지만 저작권 보호 및 관리 시스템의 부재로 기업간 저작권 시스템의 문제와 관심이 대두되어 ISO/IEC의 산하기관인 MPEG에서는 MPEG-4 시스템 표준에 부합되는 IPMP(Intellectual Property Management and Protection) 시스템 인터페이스를 표준으로 제정하여 저작권을 보호하고 관리하는 공동 방법을 제공하였다. 이에 본 논문에서는 기존 MPEG-4 저작도구에 기반하여 MPEG-4 IPMP 시스템을 플러그인처럼 추가할 수 있는 확장 시스템 구현을 목적으로 두고 있다. 설계 부분은 IPMP 정보 저장부, IPMP 정보 변환부, 멀티미디어 처리부, XMT-A to MP4 컨버터, IPMP 정보 처리부로 구성하였고. 저작자가 IPMP 정보를 효율적으로 입력, 수정하고 시스템에서 처리되도록 구현하여 표준에 따라 보호 및 관리 신호를 갖는 MPEG-4 디지털 콘텐츠를 저작하였다.

Fast information extraction algorithm for object-based MPEG-4 application from MPEG-2 bit-streamaper (MPEG-2 비트열로부터 객체 기반 MPEG-4 응용을 위한 고속 정보 추출 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, a fast information extraction algorithm for object-based MPEG-4 application from MPEG-2 bit-steam is proposed. For object-based MPEG-4 conversion, we need to extract such information as object-image, shape-image, macro-block motion vector, and header information from MPEG-2 bit-stream. If we use the extracted information, fast conversion for object-based MPEG-4 is possible. The proposed object extraction algorithm has two important steps, namely the motion vectors extraction from MPEG-2 bit-stream and the watershed algorithm. The algorithm extracts objects using user\`s assistance in the intra frame and tracks then in the following inter frames. If we have an unsatisfactory result for a fast moving object, the user can intervene to correct the segmentation. The proposed algorithm consist of two steps, which are intra frame object extracts processing and inter frame tracking processing. Object extracting process is the step in which user extracts a semantic object directly by using the block classification and watersheds. Object tacking process is the step of the following the object in the subsequent frames. It is based on the boundary fitting method using motion vector, object-mask, and modified watersheds. Experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve a fast conversion from the MPEG-2 bit-stream to the object-based MPEG-4 input.

  • In this paper, we propose a media processor to provide interactive services in mobile multimedia broadcasting environments. The proposed system Is designed to support various functionalities, such as generation of MPEG-4 IOD (Initial Object Descriptor)/OD(Object Descriptor)/BIFS (Binary Format for Scene) data, encapsulation of MPEG-4 AVC (Advanced Video Coding)/BSAC (Bit Sliced Arithmetic Coding) stream and generated IOD/OD/BIFS data into SL (Sync Layer) packet, packetization of SL packet into TS (Transport Stream) packet and multiplexing. The proposed media processor can provide MPEG-4 based interactive services for users.

  • Video object segmentation is one of the core technologies for content-based real-time MPEG-4 encoding system. For real-time requirement, the segmentation algorithm should be fast and accurate but almost all existing algorithms are computationally intensive and not suitable for real-time applications. The MPEG-4 VM(Verification Model) has provided basic algorithms for MPEG-4 encoding but it has many limitations in practical software development, real-time camera input system and compression efficiency. In this paper, we implemented the preprocessing system for real-time camera input and VOP extraction for content-based video coding and also implemented motion detection to achieve the 180 : 1 compression rate for real-time and high compression MPEG-4 encoding.

  • MPEG-V(ISO/IEC 23005) standardizes normative sensory effects metadata and sensory devices command for adapting the sensory effects between the virtual world and the real world. MPEG-V(Virtual) standardization has been carried out by 3DG(Dimensional Graphics) ad-hoc group inside MPEG Working Group(ISO IEC JTC1/SC29/WG11). For the scent effect, one of the sensory effects within MPEG-V, we proposed an olfactory interaction model including electronic nose and scent display to the ad-hoc group. Recently, we proposed types and elements related to the electronic nose as a sensor defined in MPEG-V standard for olfactory interaction. At the 114th MPEG meeting, the types and elements were consequently reflected on MPEG-V CD(Committee Draft) 4th edition. In this paper, we implement an electronic nose system applicable to MPEG-V standard by using MPEG-V schema, encoder, and decoder in order to assess their adequacy.
