  • In this paper, we present a model based 3d facial modeling method for virtual reality application using only one front of face photography. We extract facial feature using facial photography and modify mesh of the basic 3D model by the facial feature. After this , We use texture mapping for more similarity. By experiment, we know that the modeling technic is useful method for Movie, Virtual Reality Application, Game , Clothing Industry , 3D Video Conference.

  • The digital contents industry already heads toward the OSMU(One Source Multi Use) method of media. In case the success of the original novel recreates to a movie, the success of a movie is again noticed with the original novel. For this reason, a novel and movie are open at the same time, In this paper, we analyze through the case study of three fantasy films having the narrative structure of the germane myth : The Lord of The Rings, Harry Potter, The Chronicles Of Narnia based on the analysis basis : Hero's Journey 12 steps by J. Campbell, The analysis of scenes of each film visualizing the narrative structure of a novel can be used as the basic materials in the process of visualizing the scale of the original and message of a writer, we consequently believe that these analysis will be able to be applied the appropriate visual techniques (the special effect, the scene tractions, and etc.)in visualization of films.

Predicting Movie Success based on Machine Learning Using Twitter (트위터를 이용한 기계학습 기반의 영화흥행 예측)

  • This paper suggests a method for predicting a box-office success of the film. Lately, as the growth of the film industry, a variety of studies for the prediction of market demand is being performed. The product life cycle of film is relatively short cultural goods. Therefore, in order to produce stable profits, marketing costs before opening as well as the number of screen after opening need a plan. To fulfill this plan, the demand for the product and the calculation of economic profit scale should be preceded. The cases of existing researches, as a variable for predicting, primarily use the factors of competition of the market or the properties of the film. However, the proportion of the potential audiences who purchase the goods is relatively insufficient. Therefore, in this paper, in order to consider people's perception of a movie, Twitter was utilized as one of the survey samples. The existing variables and the information extracted from Twitter are defined as off-line and on-line element, and applied those two elements in machine learning by combining. Through the experiment, the proposed predictive techniques are validated, and the results of the experiment predicted the chance of successful film with about 95% of accuracy.

  • Beginning in 1990's, 3D filmmaking reappeared. As almost every job in filmmaking is digitalized, 3D takes advantage of its new software and hardware, and digital friendly customers as well. One reason why Korean cinema should take 3D seriously is that it can resolve the old and tough problem of unemployed human resources in film production. Another reason is the cooperation programs in which universities and 3D companies can join. 3D cinema can create new cinema goers who don't belong the regular viewer. The totally new experience of 3D can bring people to the movie theaters, and this will add up the total movie customers that expand the whole film industry. The newly designed 3D also could take care of piracy of movie file uploading and downloading through internet. 3D cinema would be precious alternative for film industries of Korea.

  • This study shed light on searching spatial location pattern of movie theaters by operating screens in theater as proxy variable to find spillover effects and spatial determinants. After taking procedure to find spatial spillover effect by GIS 3D analyst, movie theaters in Seoul metropolitan area are formed in four categorized regions, such as Kangbuk, Kangnam, Kangseo, and Kangdong. Regions which have larger number of screens than others show that they affect to relevant regions directly. In addition, this study analyzes that people have tendencies to visit movie theater while they use other similar facilities such as music, publishing, and public performance facilities. Therefore, trend of agglomeration of similar enterprise including motion picture industry has a spillover effect and economy of scale when they are gathered in specific regions which are specialized as certain usage.

  • The development of the Internet and telecommunication technology has lead to the diversification of the distribution channel of movies. Internet users can easily watch movies through the Internet VOD(Video On Demand) theaters without a restriction of time and space. In this study, we try to understand the intention to use of internet VOD movies using the concepts of Technology Acceptance Model and Flow Model. We also consider the concepts of sensitivity of holdback period and availability of various choice in movie genre, along with demographic factors such as age and gender. Through our study we enhance our understanding on how and when users use the Internet VOD for their movie watching.

  • Virtual Reality is the technique which makes the man experience the similar interaction behavior to the experience in the real world through virtual space. The users participating in the 3D virtual space using virtual reality technique can have the various experiences in the space desired without restrictions on time and space and then it has been applied in many application areas such as video industry, entertainment simulator, medical treatment, construction and design. The area of video among them has been highlighted as a high-added value industry. Therefore this study classifies video industry into four including movie, broadcasting, advertisement and internet and is to examine their characteristics, application cases and developmental potential. In the industry using virtual reality technique in video industry, it is implied for special elect in the area of movie and for providing the various graphic virtual word to audiences with the introduction of virtual studio and character in the area of broadcasting. It can give audiences a synergy effect by inserting 3D advertisement into virtual space in the area of advertisement. Also the implementation of 3D virtual reality such as virtual museum, virtual model house, virtual home shopping and entertainment on the web is possible with the emergence of Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) and it plays the roles of more entertainments. Accordingly, this study is to seek the application methods using virtual reality technique in video industry.

A Model of Predictive Movie 10 Million Spectators through Big Data Analysis (빅데이터 분석을 통한 천만 관객 영화 예측 모델)

  • In the last five years (2013~2017), we analyzed what factors influenced Korean films that have surpassed 10 million viewers in the Korean movie industry, where the total number of moviegoers is over 200 million. In general, many people consider the number of screens and ratings as important factors that affect the audience's success. In this study, four additional factors, including the number of screens and ratings, were established to establish a hypothesis and correlate it with the presence of 10 million spectators through big data analysis. The results were significant, with 91 percent accuracy in predicting 10 million viewers and 99.4 percent accuracy in estimating cumulative attendance.

  • Home Entertainment system is recently being offered by Home Theater & Smart TV with contents service. Also, console game is being played in the media like in TV. The usage of 4D as the main technology in entertainment industry has mostly been limited in Theme Park, Amuse Park, Theater, and contents for Movie and Animation. Some simulation systems for game has been developed but they were made mostly by using electric or hydraulic motion system which cause high power consumption and have a restriction of place for install. The paper is attempted to build Home Entertainment system which makes users feel realistic contents by developing 4D systems for Home Entertainment rather than before. 4D control S/W in which user can insert and edit 4D effects on contents of all areas such as game, movie, and broadcasting is developed. Also, built-in pneumatic cylinder in 4D system which can be easily controlled and managed in home is developed.

A Study of Correlation Analysis between Increase / Decrease Rate of Tweets Before and After Opening and a Box Office Gross (개봉 전후 트윗 개수의 증감률과 영화 매출간의 상관관계)

  • Predicting a box office gross in the film industry is an important goal. Many works have analyzed the elements of a film making. Previous studies have suggested several methods for predicting box office such as a model for distinguishing people's reactions by using a sentiment analysis, a study on the period of influence of word-of-mouth effect through SNS. These works discover that a word of mouth (WOM) effect through SNS influences customers' choice of movies. Therefore, this study analyzes correlations between a box office gross and a ratio of people reaction to a certain movie by extracting their feedback on the film from before and after of the film opening. In this work, people's reactions to the movie are categorized into positive, neutral, and negative opinions by employing sentiment analysis. In order to proceed the research analyses in this work, North American tweets are collected between March 2011 and August 2012. There is no correlation for each analysis that has been conducted in this work, hereby rate of tweets before and after opening of movies does not have relationship between a box office gross.
