The Conjoint Analysis of Users' Preference on the VODs of the Newly-released Movies (최신 영화 VOD 이용자의 선호도에 대한 컨조인트 분석)

  • This study examined the importance of independent variables that affect users' preference on the VODs of the newly-released movies by using the conjoint analysis. The results demonstrated that 'price(44.6%)' is the most important variable, which is followed by 'device(24.5%)', 'recency(18.0%)', 'producing country(12.9%)'. Respondents obtained the relatively high utility from watching the VOD of a Korean movie currently on screen in 3,000 wons. A television set was the most preferable device for watching VODs. The traditional windowing strategy in the media content market has been recently challenged by the new trend that the holdback period between market windows is ignored and the high-priced content is found in the second window. Nevertheless, this study demonstrated that users of the VODs of the newly-released movies are still very sensitive to the price and consider 'the recency' to be relatively less important than 'price'.

An Analysis of Incheon's Identity of Place through Movies (영화를 통한 인천의 장소 정체성 분석)

  • Although Incheon metropolitan city is the third largest city in Korea, it is called 'the gateway to Seoul', 'the second city of port', and 'the satellite city'. The people in Incheon as well as other regions unconsciously recognize this city as 'border' and 'periphery' of Seoul through those expressions. These perceptions also develop a negative sense of place about Incheon. This study starts with analysis about marginal landscape images of Incheon in texts such as movies, stories, and geography textbooks. The represented text as movie has a gap between real space and it. Nevertheless, Its strong point is a making problems clear about recognition of reality. I will inquire the origin of senses of place about Incheon through analysis of represented texts. Moreover, I will present the notion of 'flight' that stands on the basis of Deleuze's Nomadism. Here, 'flight' means that the active subject continuously challenges and reforms the nature of periphery and dependency, the capital, and the economic subordination, and it will have to be new identity and direction of Incheon.

Media-Content Repertoire Development and Difference Analysis: Focus on the Entertainment Content (미디어-콘텐츠 레퍼토리 개발 및 유형별 특성 분석: 엔터테인먼트 콘텐츠를 중심으로)

  • This study introduced the concept of 'Media-content repertoire', which indicates the set of favorite media-content combinations of media users and extracted five media user types based on those combinations. We used the range of media(i.e., smartphone, tablet, PC, and TV) and entertainment content(i.e., movie, broadcasting, music, and game) for the analysis. Also, we investigated the differences between those types including demographic variables, individual characteristics, and content buying behavior and we found that statistically significant differences exist among them. Those include 'non-user'(i.e., lower level of media use), 'screen user'(i.e., 50s, TV-centered media use), 'variety seeker'(i.e., 20s. heavy public transport user), 'selective focus'(i.e., 20,30s, movie&broadcasting-centered media use), and 'heavy user'(i.e., high level of media use and consumption). The results provide both academic implications(e.g., extension of media repertoire concept) and practical implications(e.g., direction to the target marketing for each user type).

Emotion and Sentiment Analysis from a Film Script: A Case Study (영화 대본에서 감정 및 정서 분석: 사례 연구)

  • Emotion plays a key role in both generating and understanding narrative. In this article we analyzed the emotions represented in a movie script based on 8 emotion types from the wheel of emotions by Plutchik. First we conducted manual emotion tagging scene by scene. The most dominant emotions by manual tagging were anger, fear, and surprise. It makes sense when the film script we analyzed is a thriller-genre. We assumed that the emotions around the climax of the story would be heightened as the tension grew up. From manual tagging we could identify three such duration when the tension is high. Next we analyzed the emotions in the same script using Python-based NLTK VADERSentiment tool. The result showed that the emotions of anger and fear were most matched. The emotion of surprise, anticipation, and disgust, however, scored lower matching.

  • 정보통신기술이 발달한 오늘날에도 영화포스터는 영화 고유의 홍보수단의 역할을 하고 있다. 영화포스터디자인의 발전은 사회, 문화 현상에 대한 반영이다. 본 논문은 중국 문화대혁명시기의 영화포스터에서 그 시대의 구체적으로 나타난 이미지를 분석하였다. 구체적인 이미지를 통해 사회 현상을 직관적으로 볼 수 있는 매개체 임을 제시하고자 한다.

  • Three dimensional database of building use in Central Obihiro City was created and displayed using three dimensional graphics and quicktime movies.   • 세 얼간이는 국내 포탈 사이트에 평점 등록한 네티즌만 2만여 명이 넘었으며, 네이버 9.43, 다음 9.7, 네이트 9.5 등의 평점으로 역대 영화 평점 순위 1위를 차지했다. 반지의 제왕 같은 판타지 블록버스터, 타이타닉, 대부 등 세계적인 흥행으로 전설이 되어버린 작품들의 기록을 뛰어넘는 것으로 전 세계 부동의 흥행 1위 아바타를 뛰어넘고, 700억 원이 넘는 수익을 창출했다. 세 얼간이가 성공할 수 있었던 것은 몇 가지로 볼 수 있는데 영화 전편에 걸친 스토리텔링과 비선형적 스토리구성, 모션의 활용, 사운드의 활용, 이벤트의 활용 등 인터랙션과 스토리텔링의 효과가 우수하였다고 사료한다.

  • 영화 스토리텔링에 있어서, 사건과 사건은 인과성을 연결되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 영화 스토리텔링의 사건 진술 방식과 비트의 개념 분석을 조사하였다. 사건의 진술 방식에 따라 비트의 인과성의 강약이 달라진다. 비트의 개념을 설명하기 위해 영화 <대호>의 핵심 비트리스트를 연구대상으로 하였다. 연구 결과 영상 스토리텔링에서 비트의 개념을 정립하면, 제시되는 사건의 인과성이 강화된다.

Automatic Video Management System Using Face Recognition and MPEG-7 Visual Descriptors

  • The main goal of this research is automatic video analysis using a face recognition technique. In this paper, an automatic video management system is introduced with a variety of functions enabled, such as index, edit, summarize, and retrieve multimedia data. The automatic management tool utilizes MPEG-7 visual descriptors to generate a video index for creating a summary. The resulting index generates a preview of a movie, and allows non-linear access with thumbnails. In addition, the index supports the searching of shots similar to a desired one within saved video sequences. Moreover, a face recognition technique is utilized to personalbased video summarization and indexing in stored video data.
