An experimental protocol was developed and tested in this study in order to quantify the motor control capability of the trunk movement for both healthy subjects and low-back pain (LBP) patients. Information processing capacity (bits/second) (Fitts, 1954) and dynamic motor perfor- mance such as flexion/extension velocity and acceleration were measured as motor control parameters under the controlled range of motion (ROM). In this study, the original experimental propocol (Kim et al., 1993, 1994) was re-designed to reduce the length of the test via a series of statistical analyses for clinical application. The accuracy of the shortened protocol was statistically examined and indicated no difference conpared to the original protocol in terms of evaluating information processing capacity. This protocol was also tested among ten healthy subjects and ten LBP patients for validation purpose. The results showed that the information processing capacity was not significantly diffenent between two groups due to the large variation although there was an apparent mean difference. Average movement time showed a significant increase in LBP patients com- pared to healthy subjects. In conclusion, it was found that the new short experimental protocol could quantify the motor control capability of neuromuscular system of the trunk and also showed the applicability to patient population.
Objective: To determine the effects of a local injection of leukocyte-platelet-rich plasma (L-PRP) on orthodontic tooth movement in rabbits. Methods: Twenty-three male New Zealand white rabbits were included in a split-mouth design. Tooth movement with a 100-g nickel-titanium closed-coil spring was performed on the maxillary first premolars. L-PRP was injected submucosally at the buccal and lingual areas of the first premolar in one random side of the maxilla and the other side served as the control and received normal saline. The amount of tooth movement was assessed on three-dimensional digital models on days 0, 3, 7, 14, 21, and 28. Histological findings and osteoclast numbers were examined on day 0 as the baseline and on days 7, 14, and 28. Results: The L-PRP group showed significantly greater cumulative tooth movement at all observed periods. However, a significantly higher rate of tooth movement was observed only on days 0-7 and 7-14. The osteoclast numbers were significantly increased in the L-PRP group on days 7 and 14. Conclusions: Local injection of L-PRP resulted in a transient increase in the rate of tooth movement and higher osteoclast numbers.
The purpose of this study is to identify influence that eye movement have an effect on postural control and balance performance by plegia side of the impaired patients of central nervous system. Subjects are patients with the impairment of central nervous system and experimental and control groups are forty people and thirty people seperatively, Total subjects were selected to seventy persons, but twelve persons of experimental group quit during the experimental periods and eight persons of control group did not measure after exercise. Therefore, twenty eight persons of experimental group and twenty two persons of control group were selected in this study and experimental group peformed eye movement for eight weeks according to the exercise program of this study. Movement technique is comprised of the movement status of the circulation differentiation rate (CDR) and rotation differentiation rate (RDR) on the shiver movement form. Condition of the differentiation rate by the shiver movement form is to be modified the teetering movement system. As to fix the movement of signal on the material of body, we compared a shiver value of the circulation differentiation rate on the circulation state. The concept of rotation differentiation rate was identified the reference of rotation differentiation signal and rotation differentiation signal by the rotation state. For detecting a alteration of the CDR-RDR of the maximum and average in terms of the movement form, and shiver movement value that was a shiver value of the top alteration of the Top-ф$_{MAX-AVG}$ with $12.80{\pm}1.27units$, that was a shiver value of the peripheral alteration of the Per-ф$_{MAX-AVG}$ with $4.38{\pm}1.15units$, that was a shiver value of the limbus alteration of the Lim-ф$_{MAX-AVG}$ with $1.65{\pm}0.25units$, that was a shiver value of the center alteration of the Cen-ф$_{MAX-AVG}$ with $0.25{\pm}0.01units$. The teetering movement will be to assess at the ability of the movement form for the control degree of differentiation rate on the CDR-RDR that was shown the circulation and rotation form by the differentiation rate system. Teetering differentiation system was modified of a form by the special movement and was included a shiver data of teetering movement rate.
In this paper, we present a method of analysing perturbed linear system by pole sensitivity defined by the rate of pole movement with respect of perturbation. Pole sensitivity give us not only the rate of pole movement but also the directional information of the pole movement. We present a method of design of a LQR by considering the pole sensitivity and show that the suggested method guarantee the stability robustness of parameter perturbation.
In this paper, using the communication port between PC(Personal Computer) and DC/STEP MOTOR DEVICE that movement and measurement of motor. Communication port used serial port and movement order transmits by communication port. Consequence of motor device movement displays to tile DC/STEP MOTOR DEVICE APPLICATION. This connection is using the serial port instead of parallel port faster than response time And this application is easier than existing application.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of active mandibular exercise (AME) in patients with limited mouth opening after maxillomandibular fixation (MMF) release. Methods: The study used a quasi-experimental, nonequivalent control group and a pre test-post test design. Sixty-two patients with Maxillomandibular Fixation Release were assigned to the experimental (n=31) or control group (n=31). The AME was performed in the experimental group for 4 weeks. The exercise AME consisted of maximal mouth opening, lateral excursion and protrusive movement. These movements were repeated ten times a day. After the final exercise of the day, the number of tongue blades used for mouth opening was noted. The effect of AME was evaluated after MMF release at different time intervals: a) immediately, b) after 1 week, c) after 2 weeks, d) after 4 weeks, and e) after 12 weeks. The exercise was assessed using the following criteria: a) mandibular movements, b) pain scores associated with maximal mouth opening, c) discomfort scores associated with range of movement, and d) daily life activities that involve opening the mouth. Results: The experimental group showed significant improvement regarding the range of mandibular movements (maximal mouth opening (F=23.60, p<.001), lateral excursion to the right side (F=5.25, p=.002), lateral excursion to the left side (F=5.97, p=.001), protrusive movement (F=5.51, p=.001)), pain score (F=39.59, p<.001), discomfort score (F=9.38, p<.001). Daily life activities that involve opening the mouth were more favorable compared to those in the control group. Conclusion: The AME in patients after MMF release is helpful for increasing mandibular movement range, decreasing pain and discomfort, and improving day life activities that involve opening the mouth. Therefore, AME is highly recommended as an effective nursing intervention.
The present study aims to develop animation module-based teaching-learning materials for a unit of middle school 3rd grade science, which contains the movement of the solar system, through the utilization of various forms of multimedia elements. The developed materials consist of 12 in total flash animation modules covering ‘movement of the Earth,’ ‘movement of the Moon,’ movement of the Planets,‘ etc. To analyze the student responses to the science classes to which the developed animation modules were to be applied, the researcher selected for subjects two third-grade classes that were made up of 60 students and later divided for an experimental group and a control group in a middle school located in Jeonju. The experimental group was treated with the animation module-based lessons developed in the present study while the control group was taught in the traditional teacher-centered ways. Tests for the science-related attitudes of the two groups were administered and the results showed that the mean score of the experimental group was significantly higher than the mean score of the control group (p<0.05) in the categories of ‘interest’ and ‘scientific attitude’. It was thus believed that the animation module-based teaching has a positive effect on the categories of ‘interest’ and ‘scientific attitude’. To assess the qualitative dimension of the developed materials, the researcher subjected them to the utilization of the 30 local science teachers and afterwards a survey was done with the 8 crucial items taken from the WBI evaluation test developed by Multimedia Education Support Center in 1998. The result was broadly positive in terms of lesson design and from a technological point of view.
Purpose: The study investigated the effects of extracorporeal shock wave therapy with myofascial release techniques (ESWT+MFR) on pain, movement, and function in patients with myofascial pain syndrome. Methods: Forty participants with upper trapezius trigger points were recruited and randomly allocated to two groups: an experimental group (n = 20) and a control group (n = 20). The experimental group performed the ESWT+MFR, and the control group performed only myofascial release techniques. Each group was treated for 15 minutes, twice a week for four weeks. Pain was assessed using a visual analogue scale and a pressure pain threshold measure. Movement was assessed by cervical range of motion, and cervical and shoulder function were assessed on the Constant-Murley Scale and the Neck Disability Index before and after treatment. Results: The results indicate statistically significant improvements in the two groups on all parameters after intervention as compared to baseline (p < 0.05). As compared to the control group, the experimental group showed statistically significant improvements on the visual analogue scale and pressure pain threshold, cervical range of motion (except rotation), and on the Neck Disability Index (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The ESWT+MFR is more effective than myofascial release techniques for pain, movement, and function in patients with myofascial pain syndrome and would be clinically useful for physical therapists treating myofascial pain syndrome.
Background: To evaluate the influences of Eye movement program applied to elderly people on static balance. Methods: The subjects consisted of fourteen elderly people. The subjects were divided into two group. The control group (n=7) received no exercise and/or stimulation. The Eye movement program training (E/P) group (n=7) performed balance training using word card and batom. E/P group were accomplished during 4weeks (5 day/week, 60 min/day). All tests were completed before and after experiment. The static balance ability was measured by normal standing when eye open and close on good balance system, respectively. For each case, the experimental data were obtained in 3 item; mean X speed, mean Y speed and velocity moment. Results: The result of this study were as follows: 1. In E/P group, the statistically significants were shown on only mean Y speed in the case of normal standing when eye open (p<.05), but the statistically significants were not shown on mean X, Y speed and velocity moment in the case of normal standing when eye close (p>.05). 2. In control group, the statistically significants were not shown on all posture (p>.05). 3. There was a statistically significant difference on the mean Y speed and velocity moment in the case of normal standing when eye open between control group and E/P group (p<.05). Conclusions: The above results revealed that balance training using Eye movement program were partly effective for improving the static balance ability.
