Seat of automobile is required to support the comfort to driver and passenger during the driving. The control method of the seat position is changed from manual type to power type, which means using the motor to increase the comfort of the driver. By using the motor, several problems, such as vibration, noise, and over-current, appeared. These problems can be reduced through the control of seat motor. In this study, a control technology of four control variables, which determine profile of the input voltage applying to the seat motor, is proposed to generate the current profile having soft-start and soft-stop. The current flowing through the coil by input voltage is described by mathematical modeling of power seat. It is confirmed that optimized current profile having soft-start and soft-stop can be generated from simulation using the mathematical model.

In this study, for reducing the residual vibration in high speed motion control stage, an improved 5th order polynomial motion profile was developed. When a stage is moving, the current through the motor coils has the same profile of input motion profile of acceleration, therefore the characteristics of the acceleration input profile directly affect on the performance of the amplifier that includes the current control loop. Commonly low cost amplifier and motor has a narrow current control bandwidth, therefore the proposed algorithm was designed based on this practical constraint. Simulation and experimental results showed that the proposed algorithm clearly has low residual vibration characteristics than conventional 5th order polynomial motion profile on the same drive condition.

Switched Reluctance Motors(SRMs) have a considerable inherent torque ripple due to the driving characteristics of pulse current waveform and the nonlinear variation inductance profile. This paper describes a current shape characteristics to effect a torque ripple reduction, and one pulse mode switching control method is proposed to minimize torque ripple of a switched reluctance motor regardless of speed and load condition by regulating tow parameters, such as, advance angle and exciting voltage. The experiments are performed to verify the capability of proposed switching method on 6/4 salient type SRM.

This paper deals with the torque ripple reduction of permanent magnet synchronous motor using harmonic current injection. Torque ripple of electric motor reduces system stability and performances, therefore efforts to reduce torque ripple are exerted in the design process. Torque ripple can be reduced by appropriate pole/slot combination, skew of rotor or stator, design of magnetic circuit, etc. In addition, torque ripple can be also reduced by input voltage and current, and many researches have been conducted to reduce torque ripple for six-step drive. Torque ripple reduction for current vector controlled permanent magnet synchronous motor also have been conducted and verified by investigating back emf wave form. Torque ripple reduction in this paper started from getting torque profile according to input current and electrical angle calculated by FEA, then instantaneous currents at each electrical angles for constant torque are calculated and applied to experiments. Therefore, 0% of torque ripple can be obtained theoretically with harmonic current injection. In order to maximize the effect of torque ripple reduction, a BLDC motor having high harmonic component of back emf is chosen. With sinusoidal current drive, over 100% of torque ripple is obtained initially, then 0.5 % of torque ripple is obtained by FEA using harmonic current injection. The effect is verified by experiment and the presented method can be effectively applicable to Electric Power Steering(EPS).

In this paper PU control scheme is presented. The proposed scheme has following features. The one is oft-starting method which is used for preventing to flow large current in motor phase winding when motor starts. The ther is the selection of the level of the over current. The first feature is implemented by increasing the PWM duty lowly, the second feature is implemented by limiting the magnitude of the phase current level by which the over heat f motor by copper losses and magnetic saturation decreases. By the analysis using FEM considering load condition, the peed of mode transition from PW to single pulse control is selected and confirmed by simulation that there is no ver current occurs during the mode transition. For the verification of proposed scheme, the simulation using MATLAB Simulink with considering non-linearity of inductance profile from FEM analysis is performed and the experiment with SRM drive system which has the DSP controller and single Phase SRM are peformed.
This paper presents a current mode integrated control technique (CM-ICT) using a modified voltage space vector modulation (MSVM) for Z-source inverter (ZSI) fed induction motor drives. MSVM provides a better DC voltage boost in the dc-link, a wide range of AC output voltage controllability and a better line harmonic profile. In a voltage mode ICT (VM-ICT), the outer voltage feedback loop alone is designed and it enforces the desired line voltage to the motor drive. An integrated control technique (ICT), with an inner current feedback loop is proposed in this paper for the purpose of line current limiting and soft operation of the drive. The current command generated by the PI controller and limiter in the outer voltage feedback loop, is compared with the actual line current, and the error is processed through the PI controller and a limiter. This limiter ensures that, the voltage control signal to the Z-source inverter is constrained to a safe level. The rise and fall of the control signal voltage are made to be gradual, so as to protect the induction motor drive and the Z-source inverter from transients. The single stage controller arrangement of the proposed CM-ICT offers easier compensation. Analysis, Matlab/Simulink simulations, and experimental results have been presented to validate the proposed technique.

In this paper, the magnetic circuit characteristics and the current/torque analysis of a Spoke Type permanent magnet motor have been researched, compared with the SPM Type motor. In the magnetic circuit analysis, the characteristic of air-gap flux density has been analyzed according to the variation of the number of pole and the ratio of magnet height to arc length using finite element method and circuit equations. Moreover, the electromagnetic and the reluctance torque have been analyzed by the current profile, which is obtained from the variation of turn-on angle, and these informative data has been utilized for the overall characteristics of the Spoke Type BLDC motor.
In this paper we addressed the basic concept of microstepping, analyzed the combined effect of the motor detent torque and the current profile, and implemented a microstepping drive system using an one-chip microprocessor, power MOSFET's, and a 1.8 degree bifilar-wound hybrid-type step motor excited by a bipolar drive. Experimental results show that microstepping produces greater resolution, eliminates resonant step loss, and reduces motor vibrations.
This paper deals with characteristic analysis of Linear Switched Reluctance Motor (LSRM) according to switching condition. When approved current in each phase by decided position, we made sure current and voltage according to turn-on, turn-off. In dynamic simulation of LSRM, through an experiment, we decided turn-on position of inductance profile. Also, we presented dynamic characteristic analysis model which is consisted at motor and sensor signal part, etc., and substitute circuit constant that get using magnetic equivalent circuit method, we confirmed current and voltage waveform.

RM(Switched Reluctance Motor)'s Torque is generated by phase-current and inductance profile. A new analytical concept is proposed to determine the turn-off angle for maximization of the torque output. This paper describes a new method to maximization the average torque of a current control Switched Reluctance Motor. It is based on the simplified turn-off angle equation using least square method. Simulations carried out on a three-phase 6/4 pole SRM justify the algorithm is described. The suggested maximization average torque is verified by simulation in this paper.
