This study evaluated the hypothesis that motoneuron collaterals modulate the excitability of ventral spinocerebellar tract neurons. In acute cats, 128 ventral cerebellar tract cells were studied extracellularly to determine the effects of ventral root stimuli. The majority of the cells responded to ventral root stimulation with either short or long latency increases in spike discharge. In many cells with sufficient spontaneous activity ventral root stimulation also evoked a long lasting reduction in activity. In preparations with the dorsal root ganglion removed VSCT neurons had similar response properties. In some cells contralateral ventral root stimulation also evoked excitatory responses. These findings indicate the VSCT can provide the cerebellum with information regarding activity in the final output neurons of the motor system, the alpha motoneurons.
In this study the general pharmacological profiles of AS6 on the central nervous system, cardiovascular and the other organs were investigated. The dosages given were 0, 250, 500 and 1000 mg/kg and drugs were orally administered. The animals used for this study were mice, rats and guinea pigs. Significant increases (p<0.01) in the charcoal transport capacity were observed at the high dose of 1000 mg/kg and significant increases in retardation of pain threshold were observed in the test using acetic acid in all dosed animals. However, AS6 showed no noticeable effects on general behavior, motor coordination, spontaneous locomotor activity, hexobarbital-induced sleep time, body temperature, analgesic activity in the test using hot plate method and anticonvulsant activity. Furthermore no noticeable effects were observed in cardiovascular functions in the isolated rat heart, contraction and relaxation of the smooth muscle in the isolated guinea ileum, gastric secretion and renal function.

Several epidemiological studies have shown that exercise (EX) and physical activity (PA) can prevent or delay the onset of different mental disorders, and have therapeutic benefits when used as sole or adjunct treatment in mental disorders. This review summarizes studies that used EX interventions in patients with anxiety, affective, eating, and substance use disorders, as well as schizophrenia and dementia/mild cognitive impairment. Despite several decades of clinical evidence with EX interventions, controlled studies are sparse in most disorder groups. Preliminary evidence suggests that PA/EX can induce improvements in physical, subjective and disorder-specific clinical outcomes. Potential mechanisms of action are discussed, as well as implications for psychiatric research and practice.
The recent power add-on drive wheelchairs (PADWs) provide greater physical activity and easier transportability and may be an excellent alternative for the typical manual and powered wheelchairs. The driving system consists of a motor and a motor driver is the most important component of the PADW In this paper, design, implementation, and testing of a driving system for a PADW are presented. To design the output power and torque for the driving system, the equation of motion has been investigated. The motor and driver were fabricated with precise machining and assembled to implement our prototype driving system. The dynamometer test has been carried out using the prototype in order to examine the torque of the system. The experimental results demonstrates that the designed driving system can provide enough output power and efficiency for utilization in a PADW.
For commercialization of fuel cell electric vehicles, one of the key objectives is to improve durability of MEA and electrocatalysts. Regarding electrocatalysts, the major issue is to reduce carbon corrosion and dissolution of Pt caused by harsh conditions, for example, SU/SD (Start-up/Shut-down). In this research, OER (Oxygen Evolution Reaction) catalyst has been developed improvement of durability. A modified polyol process is developed by controlling the pH of the solvent to synthesize the PtIr nanocatalysts on carbon supports. Each performance of the MEAs applying PtIr and Pt are equivalent because PtIrnanocatalysts have both ORR and OER activity. Breadboard test for catalyst durability in harsh conditions and high potentialsis found that the MEA applying PtIrnanocatalysts durability is improved more than the MEA applying Pt nanocatalysts.
Five model coils of 6.6 kV motor were manufactured with several defects. These stator coils have artificial defects such as void of groundwall insulation, removal of semi-conductive coating and damage of strand insulation. Epoxy-mica coupler(80 pF) was connected to five model coil terminals. The voltage applied to the coils was 3.81 kV, 4.76 kV, 6.0 kV and 6.6 kV, respectively. Partial discharge(PD) tests performed in the laboratory and shield room. Digital PD detector(PDD) and turbine generator analyzer(TGA) were used to measure PD activity. TGA summarizes each plot with two quantities such as the normalized quantity number(NQN) and the peak PD magnitude(Qm). The PD levels in pC were measured with PDD. PD patterns of model coils were indicated the internal and slot discharges. PD patterns are consistent with the result of measurement using PDD and TGA instruments. AC breakdown test was performed on five model coils in order to confirm the result of PD measurements. All the failures were located in a line-end coil at the exit from the core slot.
Partial discharge(PD) tests are used to evaluate the insulation condition of stator windings in two 4.16kV and three 6.6kV motors. These tests were conducted using a conventional partial discharge detector(PDD) and turbine generator analyzer(TGA). Off-line PD measurements were performed on five high voltage motors. PD magnitudes ranged from 1000 pC to 5400 pC at the normal line-to-ground voltage. Five high voltage motors have been equipped with 80pF epoxy-mica coupler on the motor terminal box. The PD pulse from sensors were measured with the TGA instrument. TGA summarizes each plot with two Quantities such as the peak PD magnitude(Qm) and the total PD activity(NQN). The defect mechanisms of high voltage motor can be associated with PD patterns such as internal, slot and conductor surface discharges. The PDD and TGA test results of No. 4 motor showed that internal discharge was detected in voids of the groundwall insulation.
Purpose : This study was investigated the effect of electroacupuncture stimulation on the change of blood biochemical components in the rat spinal cord injury(SCI) damaged by the 6-hydroxydopamine. Methods : SCI model rats were damaged in L1-L2 injected with 6-hydroxydopamine. The thirty Sprague-Dawley adult male rats were randomly divided into normal group, control group and electroacupuncture group. Experimental groups were applied as electroacupuncture(Es-160, ITO, Japan) for 15minutes during the low frequency(2 Hz) stimulation to zusanli. The enzyme concentration levels analysis of the hematological changes were measured of Glutamate Oxaloacetate Transaminase(GOT), Glutamate Pyruvate Transaminase(GPT), Lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) and motor function recovery change was evaluated by the rota-rod test. Results : This study were as follow : The concentration of GOT, LDH in experimental group was lower than control group(p<.05). The experimental group showed increase of motor function recovery more in compared to control group(p<.05). Conclusion : The results of this study showed that electroacupuncture to zusanli point have an effect on functional recovery after the 6-hydroxydopamine induced SCI in rats.
