This paper proposes a adaptive video watermarking algorithm according to bitrate and motion vector size in MPEG2 system. The watermark strength in the I-frames is adapted for quantization step size and the strength in the P-B-frames is adapted for quantization step size and motion vector of macroblock to make the watermark more robust against the accompanying degradation due to aggressively compression. A realtime watermark extraction is done directly in the DCT domain during MPEG decoding without full decoding of MPEG video. The experimental simulations show that the video quality results almost invisible difference between the watermarked frames and the original frames and the watermark is resistant to frame dropping, MPEG compression, GoP conversion and low pass filter attacks.

In video image compression, it is important to extract the exact notion information from image sequence in order to perform the data compression, the field rate conversion, and the motion compensated interpolation effectively. It is well known that the location of the smallest sum of absolute difference(SAD) does not always give the true motion vector(MV) since the MV obtained via full block search is often corrupted by noise. In this paper, we first classifies the input blocks into 3 categories : the background, the shade-motion, and the edge-motion. According to the characteristics of the classified blocks, multiple locations of relatively small SAD are searched with an adaptive search window by using the proposed method. The proposed method picks MVs among those candidates by using temporal correlation. Since temporal correlation reveals the noise level in a particular region of the video image sequence, we are able to reduce the search are very effectively.
We propose a block motion estimation algorithm based on a statistical image feature for video sequences. The statistical feature of the reference block is obtained, then applied to select the candidate starting points (SPs) in the regular starting points pattern (SPP) by comparing the statistical feature of reference block with that of blocks which are spread ower regular SPP. The final SPs are obtained by their Mean Absolute Difference(MAD) value among the candidate SPs. Finally, one of conventional fast search algorithms, such as BRGDS, DS, and three-step search (TSS), has been applied to generate the motion vector of reference block using the final SPs as its starting points. The experimental results showed that the starting points from fine SPs were as dose as to the global minimum as we expected.

In Fast motion estimaion algorithms, they reduce the computational complexity using the assumption that the matching error increases monotonically as the search moves away from the global minimum error In this paper, we first investigate the statistical characteristics of motion vector that the motion vector mostly occures on the side of small MAE (mean absolute error) between the reference search points when the MAE difference of them is large Therefore, we propose a fast motion estimation algorithm using this property and can reduce the number of search points The computer simulation result shows that the proposed method reduces computational complexity compared with conventional fast algorithms.
A MVC (Multi-view Video Coding) method, which uses both an illumination change-adaptive ME (Motion Estimation)/DC (Motion Compensation) and a 2D (Dimensional) direct mode, is proposed. Firstly, a new SAD (Sum of Absolute Difference) measure for ME/MC is proposed to compensate the Luma pixel value changes for spatio-temporal motion vector prediction. Illumination change-adaptive (ICA) ME/MC uses the new SAD to improve both MV (Motion Vector) accuracy and bit saving. Secondly, The proposed 2D direct mode that can be used in inter-view prediction is an extended version of the temporal direct mode in MPEG-4 AVC. The proposed MVC method obtains approximately 0.8dB PSNR (Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio) increment compared with the MPEG-4 AVC simulcast coding.

In this paper, we propose a new temporal interpolation method based on spatial filtering. Compared with the conventional method, the proposed one may use a few adjacent frames and apply temporal lowpass filtering. To develop this method, we follow the basic approach of sampling rate conversion. Additionally, we use some assumption of video sequence : moving object has constant velocity rigid translational motion. From them, spatial filtering for temporal sampling rate conversion is described. This method has a lot of noise immunity on a motion vector and doesn't make a great difference from the original frame. The interpolated frame shows moderate change even there is a great time difference. This method has exactly same description of motion adaptive spatial filter which has an efficient temporal band-limiting characteristics. It imposes the possibility to make video sequence with good pictural quality.
The purpose of this study was to compare kinematic characteristics on the limbs at 3 different walking speed during the energy and the normal walking. Eight subjects performed energy walking and normal walking at the slow speed(65 beats/min), the normal speed(115beats/min), the fast speed(160 beats/min). The 3-d angle was calculated by vector projected with least squares solution with three-dimensional cinematography(Motion Analysis corporation). The range of motion was calculated on the trunk, shoulder, elbow, hip, knee joint. The results showed that stride length was no difference of the two walking pattern. The duration of support phase was also no difference of the two walking pattern. The range of motion of shoulder joint significantly increased in the sagittal and frontal planes, and the range of motion of elbow joint significantly increased as the energy walking. The range of motion of hip joint had no significant difference in the any planes in changing of walking speed. But the most remarkable difference of the two walking patterns revealed at the trunk. The range of flexion/extension angle had significant increasing $2.36^{\circ}$ at normal speed, and the range of the right/left flexion angle had significant increasing below $4^{\circ}$ at the 3 walking speed, and The range of rotation angle had significant increasing $7.35^{\circ}$, $9.22^{\circ}$, respectively at the normal and slow speed. But there was no significant difference of range of motion at the hip and knee joints between energy walking and normal walking.
In this paper, a new 3D object tracking system using the disparity motion vector (DMV) is presented. In the proposed method, the time-sequential disparity maps are extracted from the sequence of the stereo input image pairs and these disparity maps are used to sequentially estimate the DMV defined as a disparity difference between two consecutive disparity maps Similarly to motion vectors in the conventional video signals, the DMV provides us with motion information of a moving target by showing a relatively large change in the disparity values in the target areas. Accordingly, this DMV helps detect the target area and its location coordinates. Based on these location data of a moving target, the pan/tilt embedded in the stereo camera system can be controlled and consequently achieve real-time stereo tracking of a moving target. From the results of experiments with 9 frames of the stereo image pairs having 256x256 pixels, it is shown that the proposed DMV-based stereo object tracking system can track the moving target with a relatively low error ratio of about 3.05 % on average.
The portion of header in H.264 gets higher than those of previous standards instead of its better compression efficiency. Therefore, this paper proposes a new technique to compress the header of H.264. Unifying a sentence elementary in H.264, H.264 does not consider the distribution of element which be encoded and uses existing Exp-Golomb method, but it is uneffective for variable length coding. Most of the header are block type(s) and motion vector difference(s), and there are redundancies in the header of H.264. The redundancies in the header of H.264 which are analyzed in this paper are three. There are frequently appearing symbols and non-frequently appearing symbols in block types. And when mode 8 is selected in macroblock, all of four sub-macroblock types are transferred. At last, same values come in motion vector difference, especially '0.' This paper proposes the algorithm using type code and quadtree, and with them presents the redundant information of header in H.264. The type code indicates shape of the macroblock and the quadtree does the tree structured motion compensation. Experimental results show that proposed algorithm achieves lower total number of encoded bits over JM12.4 up to 32.51% bit reduction.
In this paper, we propose a new error concealment (EC) method using inter-layer correlation for scalable video coding. In the proposed method, the auxiliary motion vector (MV) and the auxiliary mode number (MN) of intra prediction are interleaved into the bitstream to recover the corrupted frame. In order to reduce the bit rate, the proposed method encodes the difference between the original and the predicted values of the MV and MN instead of the original values. Experimental results show that the proposed EC outperforms the conventional EC by 2.8 dB to 6.7 dB.
