  • Motion segmentation is a fundamental technique for analysing image sequences of real scenes. A process of identifying moving objects from data is a typical task in many computer vision applications. In this paper, we propose motion segmentation that generally consists from background subtraction and foreground pixel segmentation. The Approximated Median Filter (AMF) was chosen to perform background modeling. Motion segmentation in this paper covers RGB video data.

  • We propose the new algorithm for scene segmentation. The proposed system consists motion estimation module and motion segmentation module. The former estimates 2D-motion value for each pixel position from two images transformed by wavelet. The latter determine scene segments well fitting on dominant affine motion models. What distinguishes proposed algorithm from other methods is that it needs not other post-processing for scene segmentation. We can manipulate both multimedia data and objects in virtual environment using proposed algorithm.

  • This paper presents a recoil and counter recoil(R&CR) motion measurement method using linear variable differential transformers(LVDT). The output of a LVDT is obtained from the differential voltage of the 2nd transformers. As a sensor core is attached at the motion body, the output is directly proportional to the core motion. Displacement, velocity and acceleration are measure from the core length. With a comparison between the measurement result and the known value which is obtained by the precision steel tape, the accuracy and the usefulness of the proposed scheme is validated.

  • Decontamination of systems, structures and components (SSC) during the decommissioning of a Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) can be for a variety of reasons. The main reasons for decontamination are: to reduce the contamination of SSC to a reasonably low level, to reduce the potential for the spread of contaminants into the environment and to reduce the cost of disposal due to the reduced level of contamination in a particular SSC. The decontamination technique can be aggressive or non-aggressive depending on the intent after the decontamination process. Aggressive decontamination technique is used when the intent is not to reuse the SSC while a non-aggressive decontamination technique is used with the intent of SSC reuse. For different SSCs there are different decontamination techniques that can be used, each having its own advantages and drawbacks. Metal components such as pipes in the nuclear power plant account for a large amount of nuclear wastes generated. Some of these wastes can be reused if the contaminant level is reduced to an acceptable level. Laser ablation is a non-aggressive decontamination technique that can be used to reduce the contamination in pipes to an acceptable level with no secondary waste generated during the process. The operation and control of a laser ablation device must be precise to achieve a high decontamination factor. This precision can be achieved by a well-designed motion control system. For this purpose, a motion control system was developed consisting of two parts: the first part being the precise control of the laser ablation device inside the pipe and the second part is the control of the laser ablation device outside the pipe. This paper describes the Systems Engineering approach for the development process of a motion control system for the Laser decontamination system.

  • Moving object extraction is one of key research topics for various video services. In this study, a new moving object extraction algorithm is introduced to extract objects using block motion vectors in video data. To do this, 1) a maximum a posteriori probability and Gibbs random field are used to obtain real block motion vectors,2) a 2-D histogram technique is used to determine a global motion, 3) additionally, a block segmentation is fellowed. In the computer simulation results, the proposed technique shows a good performance.

  • In recent year, desire and request fer micro automation are growing rapidly covering the whole range of the industry. This has been caused mainly by request of more accurate manufacturing process due to a higher density of integrated circuits in semiconductor industry. This paper presents a six d.o.f fine motion stage using magnetic levitation technique, which is one of actuating techniques that have the potential for achieving such a micro motion. There is no limit in motion resolution theoretically that the magnetically levitated part over a fixed stator can realize. In addition, it Is possible to manipulate the position and the force of the moving part at the same time. Then, the magnetic levitation technique is chosen into the actuating method. However, we discuss issues of design, kinematics, dynamics, and control of the proposed system. And a few experimental results fur step input are given.

  • The origins of the motion artifact resulting from exercise in impedance cardiography wore explained and the ensemble average technique was applied to reduce the motion artifact enabling the measurement of cardiac output during exercise. Algorithm for ensemble average was developed and applied to the actual impedance signals. It was found that the minimum number of sampling was 20, and sampling frequency was 500Hz. Using the ensemble average technique it was possible to measure cardiac output continuously during the treadmill exercise. Therefore it is hoped that this study may contribute in the area of exercise physiology and sport medicine.

  • In this paper, we propose a method of analyzing exercise behavior to increase health care and exercise effect in personal fitness. In this study, a user wears a band-shaped acceleration sensor, an angular velocity sensor, and a motion sensor equipped with a geomagnetic module. Using the technique presented in this paper, we analyzed the motion of three resistive exercises which is consistent with previous studies. We have acquired a technique for processing personalized exercise information from the data generated in the resistive exercise situation.

  • The main goal of this paper is to develop a robust visual tracking algorithm with particle filtering. Visual Tracking with particle filter technique is not easy task due to cluttered environment, illumination changes. To deal with these problems, we develop an efficient observation model for target tracking with particle filter. We develop a robust phase correlation combined with motion information based observation model for particle filter framework. Phase correlation provides straight-forward estimation of rigid translational motion between two images, which is based on the well-known Fourier shift property. Phase correlation has the advantage that it is not affected by any intensity or contrast differences between two images. On the other hand, motion cue is also very well known technique and widely used due to its simplicity. Therefore, we apply the phase correlation integrated with motion information in particle filter framework for robust tracking. In experimental results, we show that tracking with multiple cues based model provides more reliable performance than single cue.
