  • Dual electromagnetic sensor is used for sensing the weld line. The sensor consists of excitation and two sensing coil wound over the ferro-magnetic core. By using the dual sensor, the effect of noise is minimized. It is based on the generation of eddy currents in the welding plate by passing current through the excitation coil. The sensor can be used to track the butt joints having no gap between them, where a vision based sensor fails to track. Sensor sensitivity depends on the number of coil turns, frequency of excitation, distance of a sensor from the work piece, diameter of core, etc. The whole system consists of a sensor, a signal processing board, a motion controller and a personnel computer (PC). The raw sensor signal is processed using the signal processing board. It consists of amplification, rectification, filtering, averaging, offset adjustment, etc. Based on sensor data, the motion controller adjusts the position of a welding torch.

  • This paper aims to derive a mathematical model of the dynamics of handling tasks in robot finger which stable grasping and manipulates a rigid object with some dexterity. Firstly, a set of differential equation describing dynamics of the manipulators and object together with geometric constraint of tight area-contacts is formulated by Lagrange's equation. Secondly, problems of controlling both the internal force and the rotation angle of the grasped object under the constraints of area-contacts of tight area-contacts are discussed. The effect of geometric constraints of area-contacts on motion of the overall system is analyzed and a method of computer simulation for overall system of differential-algebraic equations is presented. Thirdly, simulation results are shown and the effects of geometric constraints of area-contact is discussed. Finally, it is shown that even in the simplest case of dual single D.O.F manipulators there exists a sensory feedback from sensing data of the rotational angle of the object to command inputs to joint actuators and this feedback connection from sensing to action eventually realizes secure grasping of the object, provided that the object is of rectangular shape and motion is confined to a horizontal plane.

InSAR-based Glacier Velocity Mapping in the Parlung Zangbo River Basin, Tibetan Plateau, China

  • By applying the method of SAR interferometry to X-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image of COSMO-SkyMed, detailed motion patterns of five glaciers in the Parlung Zangbo River basin, Tibetan Plateau, in January 2010 have been derived. The results indicate that flow patterns are generally constrained by the valley geometry and terrain complexity. The maximum of $123.9ma^{-1}$ is observed on glacier No.1 and the minimum of $39.4ma^{-1}$ is found on glacier No.3. The mean values of five glaciers are between 22.9 and $98.2ma^{-1}$. Glaciers No.1, No.2, No.4 and No.5 exhibit high velocities in their upper sections with big slope and low velocities in the lower sections. A moraine lake accelerates the speed of mass exchange leading to a fast flow at the terminal of glacier No.3. These glaciers generally move along the direction of decreased elevation and present a macroscopic illustration of the motion from the northwest to the southeast. The accuracy of DEM and registration conditions of DEM-simulated terrain phases has certain effects on calculations of glacier flow direction and velocity. The error field is relatively fragmented in areas inconsistent with the main flow line of the glaciers, and the shape and uniformity of glacier are directly related to the continuous distribution of flow velocity errors.

Temporal Variation in Tiger Population in a Semi-Arid Habitat in India

  • Understanding temporal variations in wildlife populations is a prerequisite for conservation planning of wide-ranging species such as tigers (Panthera tigris). We determined the temporal variation in abundance, population growth, and sex ratios at different age and sex stages for a tiger population in Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve, India from November 2007 to February 2011 using motion-sensing cameras. We identified 19 male and 21 female tigers from stripe patterns during 16,110 trap nights within an area covering 233 km2. The annual abundance of the population varied from 34.9 (mean)±3.8 (SE) to 23.9±1.5, with a declining trend in the mean annual change of abundance (-12%). The density of adult females remained stable across the study duration, but the densities of adult males and non-breeding tigers fluctuated. The sex ratio was female-biased (0.58 males/female) for breeding tigers and male-biased (1.74 males/female) for non-breeding tigers. Our results reinforce the importance of long-term studies for monitoring the naturally occurring processes in populations to develop population indicators and identify reliable baseline information for conservation and management planning of populations.

Aircraft Motion Identification Using Sub-Aperture SAR Image Analysis and Deep Learning

  • With advancements in satellite technology, interest in target detection and identification is increasing quantitatively and qualitatively. Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) images, which can be acquired regardless of weather conditions, have been applied to various areas combined with machine learning based detection algorithms. However, conventional studies primarily focused on the detection of stationary targets. In this study, we proposed a method to identify moving targets using an algorithm that integrates sub-aperture SAR images and cosine similarity calculations. Utilizing a transformer-based deep learning target detection model, we extracted the bounding box of each target, designated the area as a region of interest (ROI), estimated the similarity between sub-aperture SAR images, and determined movement based on a predefined similarity threshold. Through the proposed algorithm, the quantitative evaluation of target identification capability enhanced its accuracy compared to when training with the targets with two different classes. It signified the effectiveness of our approach in maintaining accuracy while reliably discerning whether a target is in motion.

  • There are a lot of sports when you left the victory and the defeat of the match the referee subjective judgment. In particular, TaeKwonDo pumse How accurate a given action? Is important. Objectively evaluate the subjective opinion of victory and defeat in a sporting event and the technology to keep as evidence is required. This study was implemented a system for recognizing Taekwondo executed through the number of motion recognition device. Step Sensor also used to detect a user's location. This study evaluated the rate matching the standard gesture data and the motion data. Through multiple gesture recognition equipment was more accurate assessment of the Taekwondo action.

  • The 2nd KOrea Multi-Purpose Satellite (KOMPSAT -2) has been developed by Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) since 2000. Multi Spectral Camera (MSC) is the payload for KOMPSAT -2, which will provide the observation imagery around Korean peninsula with high resolution. KOMPSAT-2 has adopted X-band Tracking System (XTS) for transmitting earth observation data to ground station. For this, data which describes and controls the pre-defined motion of each on-board X-Band antenna in XTS, must be transmitted to the spacecraft as S-Band command and it is called as Tracking Parameter Files (TPF). In this paper, the result of the development of TPF Generation S/W for KOMPSAT-2 X-Band Antenna Motion Control.

  • MEMS 가속도계는 운동측정을 위하여 가속도신호를 해석하는 저비용의 방안이다. 이론적으로 변위는 가속도신호를 두 번 적분함으로서 계산될 수 있으나 실제적으로는 실제 존재하는 여러 가지 원인에 의해서 이 방법으로는 계산 될 수가 없다. 본 실험은 실제적인 가속도신호를 획득하여 저주파 운동해석을 위하여 처리하는 과정에 대하여 보여준다.

  • This paper presents a implementation of digital motion control system for induction motor vector drives using the 16bit DSP TMS320F240. The DSP controller enable enhanced real time algorithm and cost-effective design of intelligent controllers for motors which can be yield enhanced operation, fewer system components, lower system cost, increased efficiency and high performance. The system presented are speed and current sensing, sine look-up table and generated SVPWM by fully integrated control software. The developed system in a implementation are shown a good speed response and motion control characteristic results, and high performance features in general purposed 2.2[kW] machine. The system can be adapted variform motor drive system.

  • Wii의 기본 컨트롤러인 위 리모트(Wii Remote)는 모션센서(Motion Sensor)를 내장하고 있어 컨트롤러 사용자의 움직임을 3차원 좌표로 인식한다. 또한, 블루투스(Bluetooth)를 통해 컨트롤러의 확장이 가능하여 PC에서 마우스처럼 다른 응용프로그램을 제어하는데 사용할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 모션센서와 블루투스 기능을 이용하여 위 리모트를 쥐고 있는 사용자가 화면에 가르키고 있는 좌표 값에 대한 정보를 받아 화면에 나타내는 드로잉을 구현하였다.
