  • Eucephalobus oxyuroides (de Man, 1876) Steiner, 1936 belonging to the family Cephalobidae Filpijev, 1934 (Cephalobomorpha) is newly reported from South Korea. This species is distinguished from other Eucephalobus species by its pointed tail terminus, high lips and relatively longer female tail and body. From many previous studies, intraspecific variation in this species has been reported for body length, absence/presence of probolae, and number/position of papillae in the posterior region of male, posing an obstacle for identification and phylogenetic analysis. In this study, details of the morphological characters and morphometric of E. oxyuroides Korean population are described and illustrated based on optical microscopy.

  • A sea star was collected from the Korea Strait in the waters adjacent to eastern Jeju Island, Korea ($33^{\circ}39^{\prime}86^{{\prime}{\prime}}N$, $127^{\circ}33^{\prime}12^{{\prime}{\prime}}E$) at a depth of 92 m on November 5, 2016. This specimen was identified as Marginaster paucispinus Fisher, 1913, from the family Poraniidae of the order Valvatida, based on morphological characteristics. The genus Marginaster Perrier, 1881 and M. paucispinus, which were first reported in the South China Sea, are new to the Korean fauna. Partial sequences of mitochondrial COI and 16S ribosomal RNA of M. paucispinus were have been determined for the first time and were deposited in GenBank. They are the first molecular records for the genus Marginaster.

  • The opossum shrimp, Siriella Dana, 1850 belongs to the family Mysidae Haworth, 1825. It is the genus of an enormous number of species with frequent morphological variations comprising 84 valid species to date. Among the species, Siriella trispina Ii, 1964 has been recorded from the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea is reported from Korean water for the first time. Siriella trispina is characterized by its exceedingly elongated 5th pair of thoracopods, the spines on the inner ventral margin of the uropodal endopod armed with secondary spinules, and 4-5 pairs of spines on the base of the telson. In the present study, we describe Korean specimens of the species in detail with photographs and illustrations. Siriella trispina is the 8th Siriella species found in Korean fauna.

  • The first zoeas of Nursia rhomboidalis and Pyrhila carinata were obtained from laboratory condition. They are described and illustrated for the first time. Morphological comparison with those of other Korean described species of the family Leucosiidae reveals that the zoea of N. rhomboidalis is very similar to those of Myra fugax and Arcania undecimspinosa based on characteristics of the carapace spines length, the antenna morphology, the maxilla endopod setation, and the telson, whereas, the zoea of Py. carinata coincides well with those of Philyra kanekoi and Pyrhila pisum based on characteristics of the carapace spines length, the antenna morphology, the maxilla endopod setation, and the telson. Furthermore, we find that at least two groups of zoeas exist in the Korean species of the subfamily Ebaliinae. A provisional key to the known zoeas of ten leucosiid species from Korean waters is provided.

  • A halacarid species of the genus Copidognathus is newly reported from Korea: C. daguilarensis Bartsch, 1997, which was described from Hong Kong. It is redescribed herein with detailed illustrations. Korean specimens coincide well with the original description, however, they showed two minor morphological discrepancies from it: quite shorter second palpal segment than the fourth and a modified dorsal seta on the second palpal segment. Korean specimens were rather smaller than the type specimens from Hong Kong, however, they did not show significant differences in the length to width ratios of important body parts. The number of perigenital setae was more variable in the Korean males, ranged 24-29 setae, versus 25-26 in Hong Kong's. Copidognathus daguilarensis is reported for the first time outside the type locality, and joins as the second member of the gibbus group in the northwest Pacific.

  • A new genus Parkiana Cho, gen. nov., belonging to Torodorinae of Lecithoceridae, is described from Madagascar, with two new species: P. matutinalis Cho & Agassiz, sp. nov. and P. andasibensis Cho & Agassiz, sp. nov. Although superficially similar to Thubdora Park, 2018, some of their morphological characters, such as wing venation, are unique and the species of the genus are grouped apart from Thubdora in a preliminary phylogenetic analysis based on COI barcode sequences. In addition to the specific descriptions, adults and genitalia for the two new species are illustrated.

  • Microstructural features were comparatively investigated in AZ91 (Mg-9%Al-1%Zn) and AZ91-0.5%Sn alloys, in order to clarify the reason for the enhancement in room temperature tensile properties by the addition of small amount of Sn in Mg-Al-based alloy. In as-cast state, the Sn-containing alloy showed increased YS, UTS and elongation than the Sn-free alloy. The microstructural examination revealed that various factors including finer cell size, reduction of lamellar (${\alpha}+{\beta}$) phase and morphological change of bulky ${\beta}$ phase from partially divorced shape to fully divorced shape, are likely to be responsible for the improvement in tensile properties for the Sn-containing alloy. It is noted that two alloys showed similar tensile properties after solution treatment. This implies that microstructural evolution related to the ${\beta}$ phase plays a key role in better tensile properties in the Sn-containing alloy.
