  • Although it has been known though many morphological and physiological studies, its genetic diversity and population structure have not yet been investigated in this species. Therefore, detailed studies, in particular at the DNA level, on genetic diversity of natural populations of wild sea lettuce, and genetic relationships between natural sea lettuce and cultivated sea lettuce are necessary from the viewpoint of plant evolution. • Protogeton incertus Mayer, 1903 belonging to the family Caprellidae was collected from the South Sea, Korea. This species is very similar to Protogeton inflatus Mayer, but it is only distinguishable by the presence of biarticulate mandibular palp. Previous studies provided a very brief description of the species and lacked detailed illustration. In this study, the Korean Protogeton incertus is fully illustrated based on the mature and immature specimens.

  • We here report Apocorophium acutum (Chevreux, 1908) with description and illustrations for the first time in Korea. Specimens of present study show morphological differences in ventral processes of peduncular segment 5 of antenna 2 with the same species from Europe and Atlantic coast of North America.

  • Some sea stars were collected from the coast of Seogwipo, Jejudo Island by using the fishing net at April 2003, and were identified on the basis of their morphological characteristics. Among them, Paragonaster ctenopes Sladen, 1889 belonging to family Goniasteridae, order Phanerozonia is newly recorded from Korea. Twenty two species of asteroids are reported to be distributed in the Jejudo Island of Korea.

  • The first zoeal characters of plagusiine crab Plagusia dentipes De Haan, 1835, belonging to the family Grapsidae, is described and illustrated in detail based on laboratory-hatched material from an ovigerous female collected from Bomok, Seogwipo in the Jejudo Island. Morphological comparison is made with previous description of Plagusia dentipes from Japan. The first zoea of Plagusia dentipes can be readily distinguished from those of two species of Plagusia chabrus and Plagusia depressa by having 2 aesthetascs and 3 simple setae on the antennule, and 8 setae on the coxal endite of the maxilla.

  • We investigated the galaxy morphology of 6 Abell clusters at z = 0.0784 - 0.145 based on deep images obtained using MegaCam on the CFHT. For hundreds of galaxies in our data, we classified their morphology based on criteria related to secular or merger related evolution. We found that the morphological mixture of galaxies varies considerably from cluster to cluster. This article contains a general description of our deep imaging campaign and preliminary results for galaxy morphologies in cluster environments.

  • The first three zoeal stages of fat-handed snapping shrimp Synalpheus tumodomanus (Paulson, 1875) are described and illustrated in detail based on laboratory-reared material. Morphological comparison is made with previous description of S. tumidomanus from Indian waters. Three segmented scale of the antenna and the length of the endopod of antenna readily distinguish the first zoeas of S. tumidomanus from those of S. neomeris, the other known species of the genus Synalpheus from Korea.

  • Two species of Pareurystheus belonging to the family Corophiidae are added to the Korean fauna: Pareurystheus latipes Tzvetkova, 1977 and P. anamae (Gurjanova, 1952). P. latipes is similar to the P. anamae in the most of morphological characteristics. However, two species differ in the forms of antenna 1, gnathopod 2, pereopods 5-7 and telson. This genus Pareurystheus is reported for the first time from Korea. They are described and figured in detail.
