NOAA/AVHRR NDVI를 이용한 북한지역 봄 가뭄 분석 (Analysis of Spring Drought Using NOAA/AVHRR NDVI for North Korea)

  • Different vegetation indices from satellite images have been used for monitoring drought damages, and this study aimed to develop a drought index using NOAA/AVHRR NDVI(Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) and to analyze the temporal and spatial distribution of spring drought severity in North Korea from 1998 to 2001. A new drought index, DevNDVI(Deviation of NDVI), was defined as the difference between a monthly NDVI and average monthly NDVI at the same cover area, and the DevNDVI images at all years except for 2001 demonstrated the drought-damaged areas referred from various domestic and foreign publications. The vegetation of 2001 showed high vitality despite the least amount of rainfall among the target years, and the reason was investigated that higher temperature above normal average would shift the growing stages of plants ahead. Therefore, complementary methods like plant growth models or ground survey data should be adopted in order to evaluate drought-induced plant stress using satellite-based NDVI and to make up far the distortion induced by other environments than lack of precipitation.

물이끼(Sphagnum palustre) 생육이 가능한 인공습지 사례보고 (A Case Report on the Constructed Wetland for the Growth of Sphagnum palustre)

  • Construction of an artificial wetland for the growth of Sphagnum palustre with emergent macrophytes (Phragmites australis, Typha angustifolia, and Zizania latifolia) was firstly tried and the growth of those plant components according to various environmental combinations has been monitored for three years. Above-ground dry weight of Z. latifolia ($1,500g/m^2$) was higher than T. angustifolia ($900g/m^2$) and P. australis ($500g/m^2$) under most environmental conditions. In overall, planted emergent macrophytes seemed to prefer polishing sand without moss peat as a substrate and relatively deep water-depth condition (20cm) rather than shallow water-depth (5cm). Despite of high calcium content in inflow water (> 15ppm) into the constructed wetland, S. palustre populations have survived in most experimental plots during the monitoring period. Substrate layer including moss peat with high surface-area might play a role as an ion-filter. After three years, relatively thicker litter-layer in Z. latifolia plots due to vigorous growth appeared to heavily depress S. palustre by physical compressing and complete shading processes. Most of all, for the continuous growth of S. palustre, physio-chemical characteristics of water and substrate must be carefully managed. In addition, companion emergent species should be also cautiously selected not to depress S. palustre by much litter production. We suggest P. australis and T. angustifolia as companion species rather than Z. latifolia.

농작물 생육환경정보와 생체정보 분석을 위한 빅데이터 모델 (Big Data Model for Analyzing Plant Growth Environment Informations and Biometric Informations)

  • 기후 변화에 대응하기 위한 농업분야의 연구활동이 활발하게 이루어지고 있는 가운데 4차 산업혁명에 맞춰 정보통신기술을 활용한 스마트농업이 새로운 트랜드가 되었다. 이에 따라 다양한 노지 환경과 토양 조건에서 농작물의 스트레스를 모니터링하여 생육 이상 징후를 미리 식별하고 대응하려는 연구가 진행되고 있다. 다양한 센서를 거쳐 실시간으로 수집되는 데이터들을 인공지능 기법이나 빅데이터 기술을 활용하여 분석하려는 시도도 있다. 본 논문은 빅데이터 분석을 위해 기존 관계형 데이터베이스를 이용하여 농작물의 생육환경정보와 생체정보 분석에 효과적인 빅데이터 모델을 제안한다. 모델의 성능은 데이터 양에 따른 쿼리에 대한 응답 시간으로 측정하였다. 그 결과 최대 23.8%의 시간 단축 효과가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

Inhibition of Submerged Macrophytes on Phytoplankton I. Field Evidence for Submerged Macrophyte Inhibition on Phytoplankton Biomass

  • It is known that phytoplankton biomass or turbidity are lower in waters with submerged macrophytes than those without submerged plants at a given nutrient level. We hypothesize that presence of submerged macrophytes would lower phytoplankton biomass below levels expected by total phosphorus levels through various mechanisms and that phytoplankton biomass would decrease more as the biomass increase of the submerged macrophytes. To find submerged macrophytes effectively lowering phytoplankton growth, we conducted spatial field surveys at 21 water bodies and a temporal monitoring at Seung-un 1 Reservoir, Anmyyeondo Island. We measured chlorophyll ${\alpha}$ concentrations and total phosphorus (TP) concentrations from waters in patches of submerged macrophytes with measurements of submerged plant biomass. Majority of our sites with submerged macrophytes showed much less chlorophyll a concentrations than the predicted ones from literature. Among submerged macrophytes studied, Myriophyllum spicatum and Hydrilla verticillata showed patterns of lowering chlorophyll ${\alpha}/TP$ ratios with increase of their biomass in both spatial and temporal surveys.

Quantitative Real-Time PCR Assay for Detection of Paenibacillus polymyxa Using Membrane-Fusion Protein-Based Primers

  • Paenibacillus polymyxa is known to be a plant-growth-promoting rhizobacterium. The present study describes a quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) assay for the specific detection and quantitation of P. polymyxa using a primer pair based on the sequence of a membrane-fusion protein for the amplification of a 268 bp DNA fragment. This study reports that the qPCR-based method is applicable for the rapid and sensitive detection of P. polymyxa and can be used as an alternative method for agricultural soil monitoring.

호안 녹화용 매트 시공 후 식생변화 모니터링 - 성남시 탄천을 중심으로 - (Monitoring Vegetation Changes after Constructing the Vegetation-mat Measures for Greening in Embankment - A Case Study of Tancheon, Seongnam -)

  • 본 연구는 탄천내 기존 콘크리트 호안블럭을 제거하지 않고 호안녹화용 매트를 적용하여 경관개선 및 생물서식기반을 조성하고자 하는 지역의 복원 효과 확인 및 관리방안을 제안하고자 하였다. 모니터링 결과 식물상은 2006년 18과 38종 3변종 총 41종류, 2007년 19과 56종 3변종 총 59종류, 2008년 29과 59종 8변종 총 64종류로 매년 식물종이 증가하고 있었다. 식물상 분포의 특징은 공법 적용지를 중심으로 식재한 물억새, 수크령 등이 세력을 형성하고 있었으며 범람시 토사 퇴적으로 자생종 중심의 다양한 종이 출현하고 있어 생태적으로 양호한 상태이었다. 현재는 자생종이 우점하고 있었으나 주기적인 범람에 의한 교란 유발 종과 외래종의 증가가 예상되므로 장기모니터링을 통해 관리가 이루어져야 양호한 수변생태계가 형성될 수 있을 것이다. 결국 하천천이 초기식생과 교란지 식생이 혼재되어 나타나는 생육양상이었다. 이와 같은 호안 녹화용 식생매트 공법은 콘크리트를 제거하지 않고 상부에 코이어 매트를 포설하여 불량경관을 개선할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 식물생육의 기반을 제공하여 계속적인 식물종의 증가에 따른 종다양성을 확보하는데 효과가 있는 것으로 분석되었다.

휴경논에서의 수질관리 연구 (A Study on the Water Quality Management in Fallow Paddy Fields)

  • Fallow paddy areas have been increased due to the import of cheap agricultural product, and the unbalance between farming cost and rice price since 1990. The increasing fallow paddy area needs to be protected from the devastation by weed breeding for the re-cultivation. In this study, two fallow paddy fields managed with different water depth were selected for monitoring and analysing of water quality, water balance and plant body change. The managed fallow paddy fields were more effective in water quality purification and plants growth control than non-managed fallow paddy fields. And the fallow paddy field managed with some degree of water depth was the most effective field in terms of weed control.

고수부지활용 수질정화 자유수면 인공습지의 초기처리수준 (Treatment Efficiency of a Surface - Flow Wetland System Constructed on Floodplain)

  • This paper presents treatment efficiency and plant growth of a surface-flow constructed wetland system (30 meter in length and 10 meter in width) over one year after its establishment on a floodplain of a stream. Cattails (Typha angustiflora) grown on pots were transplanted on one half of its area from inlets and reeds (Phragmites australis) on another half from an outlet. Effluent discharged from a secondary-level treatment plant was funneled into the system. The stems of cattails and reeds emerging in April 2001 grew up to 165.9 cm and 95.3 cm, respectively until July 2001. The number of stems of cattails arid reeds in July 2001 increased by 65% and 100%, respectively, compared with that just after their planting. The growth of cattails was better than that of reeds during study period. The removal rates for SS, $BOD_5$, T-N and T-P was 33%, 43%, 31%, and 51%, respectively. The system was inundated seven times by storms over the monitoring period, which disturbed its environment and led to its lower treatment rates. The increase of SS concentration in effluent after inundation of the system was attributed to the falls of soil particles onto its water surface, which had been attached to the emergent plants by floods. Purification rates for T-N were relatively low for the period of late fall through winter until early spring due to lower water temperature which may have retarded microbial nitrification and denitrification mechanisms. Reduction in T-P concentration during fall and winter was relatively higher than that during summer and spring, which may have resulted from no system perturbations by floods and heavy storms during fall and winter.

The Study of Applicability to Fixed-field Sensor for Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) Monitoring in Cultivation Area

  • The NDVI (Normalized difference vegetation index) is used as indicators of crop growth situation in remote sensing. To measure or validate the NDVI, reliable NDVI sensors have been needed. We tested new fixed-field NDVI sensor, "SRS (Spectral Reflectance Sensor)" developed by Decagon Devices, during Kimchi cabbage growing season at the cultivation area located in Gochang, Gangneung and Taebaek in Korea from 2014 to 2015. The diurnal variation of NDVI measured by SRS (SRS NDVI) showed a slight ${\cap}$-profile shape and was affected by water on the sensor surface. This means that SRS NDVI around noontime is resonable, except rainy day. Comparisons were made between the SRS NDVI and NDVI of used widely mobile sensor (Cropcircle NDVI). The comparisons indicate that SRS NDVI are close to Cropcircle NDVI (R=0.99). SRS NDVI time series displayed change of the plant height and leaf width of Kimchi cabbage. An obvious exponential relationship is found between SRS NDVI and the plant height ($R^2{\geq}0.92$) and leaf width ($R^2{\geq}0.92$) of Kimchi cabbage. Thus, SRS NDVI will be used as indicator of crop growth situation and a very powerful tool for evaluation of remote sensing NDVI estimates and associated corrections.

식물조직배양용 바이오리액터의 농도제어 시스템 개발 (Development of an Automated Control System for Bioreactor using the Plant Tissue Culture)

  • 식물조직배양용 바이오리액터 8개의 배양액 P보, DO 농도를 on-line으로 계측하고 pH 농도 및 주입공기 량을 제어할 수 있는 시스템을 개발하였다. 시스템 제어용 컴퓨터 프로그램은 나리구근의 성장단계에 맞는 주입공기량을 추종제어방식으로 제어하며, 바이오리액터 내부의 pH 변화를 감지하여 오염을 감시하는 오염경보기능이 포함되어있다. 성장단계에 따라 적절한 주입공기량의 선정을 위하여 시뮬레이션 한 결과 배양초기에는 300 cc/min, 20일 경과 후에는 400 cc/mim, 40일 경과 후에는 500 cc/min, 60일 경과 후에는 600 cc/min, 그리고 80일 경과 후부터는 700 cc/min의 공기를 주입할 경우 바이오리액터내 나리구근의 분포가 고르게 나타났으며, 이 결과를 바이오리액터 배양실험에 이용하였다 배양액의 pH 농도 제어 시스템은 배양 전 기간동안에 제어 목표 값 (5.5$\pm$0.5)로 제어할 수 있었다.
