This paper presents an architecture and control logic of a Flexible Manufacturing Cell (FMC) which is one of the important elements under Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) environment. To implement FMC, it is very important to develop a software which can control and monitor the overall system in an integrated environment. Our primary concern in this research is not to develop individual systems, but to integrate them in the hierarchical control level. Progress on the research of integrating CAD/CAM, Process Planning, Off-line Robot Programming and Simulation module into FMC control system is reported. FMC hardware system used here has an Automated Storage & Retrieval System (AS/RS), a conveyor system, a transfer robot, a CNC milling machine, a bar-code system, and an IBM PC/AT as Cell Control System (CCS). In order to demonstrate the operational result, the name plates, text-carved aluminium plates, are manufactured by this system.

Structural health monitoring is concerned with the safety and serviceability of the users of structures, especially for the case of building structures and infrastructures. When considering the safety of a structure, the maximum stress in a member due to live load, earthquake, wind, or other unexpected loadings must be checked not to exceed the stress specified in a code. It will not fail at yield, excessively large displacements will deteriorate the serviceability of a structure. To guarantee the safety and serviceability of structures, the maximum displacement in a structures must be monitored because actual displacement is a direct assessment index on its stiffness. However, no practical method has been reported to monitor the displacement, especially for the case of displacement of high-rise buildings because of not to easy accessive. In this paper, it is studied displacement measuring method of high-rise buildings using LiDAR The method is evaluated by analyzing accuracy of measured displacements for existing building.

This paper presents the simulation environment that verifies whether a new microprocessor described with HDL is compatible with MS-DOS. The phrase 'compatible with MS-DOS' means that the microprocessor can execute MS-DOS without any modification of MS-DOS's binary code. The proposed verification environment consists of HDL simulator and user interface module. And the communications between them are performed by using sockets which UNIXprovide. The HDL simulator is equipped with several functions, which use PLI to emulate ROM-BIOS facilities. The ROM-BIOS emulation routine is described by using these functions. User interface module utilizes S/MOTIF and participates in emulating PC monitor and keyboard. The verification environment is tested by executing the MS-DOS commands (DIR, FORMAT, DATE, TIME etc.) with the HDL model of microprocessor, and the display of user interface module verifies that the environment works correctly. In this paper, the method of constructing the verification environment is presented, and the simulation results are summarized.

Low back disorders (LBDs) have been the most common musculoskeletal problem in Korean workplaces. It affects many workers, and is associated with high costs to many companies as well as the individual, which can negatively influence even the quality of life of workers. The _evaluation of low back disorder risk associated with manual materials handling tasks can be performed using variety of ergonomic assessment tools such as National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Revised Lifting Equation (NLE), the Washington Administrative Code 296-62-0517 (WAC), the Snook Tables etc. But most of these tools provide limited information for choosing the most appropriate assessment method for a particular job and in finding out advantage and disadvantage of the methods, and few have been assessed for their predictive ability. The focus of this study was to _evaluate spinal loads in real time with lifting and pulling heavy cow leathers in variety of postures. Data for estimating mean trunk motions were collected as employees did their work at the job site, using the Lumbar Motion Monitor. Eight employees (2 males, 6 females) were selected in this study, in which the load weight and the vertical start and destination heights of the activity remained constant throughout the task. Variance components (three dimensional spaces) of mean trunk kinematic measures were estimated in a hierarchical design. They were used to compute velocity and acceleration of multiple employees performing the same task and to repetitive movements within a task. Therefore, a results of this study could be used as a quantitative, objective measure to design the workplace so that the risk of occupationally related low back disorder should be minimized.
It is essential in commercial reactors that the safety limits imposed on the fuel pellets and fuel clad barriers, such as the linear power density (LPD) and the departure from nucleate boiling ratio (DNBR), are not violated during reactor operations. In order to accurately monitor the safety limits of current reactor states, a detailed three-dimensional (3D) core power distribution should be estimated from the in-core detector signals. In this paper, we propose a calculation methodology for detailed 3D core power distribution, using in-core detector signals and core monitoring constants such as the 3D Coupling Coefficients (3DCC), node power fraction, and pin-to-node factors. Also, the calculation method for several core safety parameters is introduced. The core monitoring constants for the real core state are promptly provided by the core design code and on-line MASTER (Multi-purpose Analyzer for Static and Transient Effects of Reactors), coupled with the core monitoring program. through the plant computer, core state variables, which include reactor thermal power, control rod bank position, boron concentration, inlet moderator temperature, and flow rate, are supplied as input data for MASTER. MASTER performs the core calculation based on the neutron balance equation and generates several core monitoring constants corresponding to the real core state in addition to the expected core power distribution. The accuracy of the developed method is verified through a comparison with the current CECOR method. Because in all the verification calculation cases the proposed method shows a more conservative value than the best estimated value and a less conservative one than the current CECOR and COLSS methods, it is also confirmed that this method secures a greater operating margin through the simulation of the YGN-3 Cycle-1 core from the viewpoint of the power peaking factor for the LPD and the pseudo hot pin axial power distribution for the DNBR calculation.

As growing up of elderly population, the interesting on healthcare system in normal life using W is increasing. An integrated u-healthcare service architecture with IEEE 802.11 and IEEE 802.15.4 based sensor network and code divisi(m multiple access(CDMA) public mobile telecommunication networks was designed and developed. Sensor nodes with electrocardiogram(ECG), body core temperature sensors are attached on the patients' body. The healthcare parameters are transferred to web server via CDMA mobile network or through existed LAN network. The existed LAN network is suggested to be used for continuous monitoring of patient's health status in hospital while mobile networks can be used for general purpose at home or outdoor where infra networks unavailable. This system enable healthcare personal to be able to continuously access, review, monitor and transmit the patients information whereever they are, whenever they want. And immediately check their status by using cellular phone and obtain detail information by communication with medical information server through CDMA. By using this developed integrated u-healthcare service architecture, we can monitor patients' health status for 24 hours.

In this paper, we propose a context-aware system using wireless multi sensor module to monitor the state for industrial factory environment. Wireless multi sensor module combines sensing values which are collected from each acceleration, pressure, temperature and gas sensors. Moreover, it delivers this data to server after being encoded by RS code. Thereafter, RS decoder decodes the values that are received from wireless multi sensor module and fixes errors which occur in wireless communication. Based on decoded data, context-aware algorithm sets critical range and compares it to the sensing values, if the sensing values are out of the range, an event occurs by the algorithm. At the same time, if there is another sensing value which is out of the range for standby time T seconds, the algorithm orders 3 steps-alarm to occur depending on each situation. Through this system, it becomes eventually possible to monitor machines' condition effectively. From the simulation, we confirm that this system is efficient to status monitoring of industrial automation equipment.

Abstract To cope with the complexity of handling integrity constraints, numerous researchers have suggested to use a rule-based system, where integrity constraints are expressed as rules and stored in a rule base. A rule manager and an integrity constraint manager cooperate to check the integrity constraints efficiently. In this approach, however, the integrity constraint manager has to monitor the activity of an application program constantly to catch any database operation. For each database operation, it has to check relevant rules with the help of the rule manager, resulting in considerable delays in database access. We propose to insert the constraints checking code in the application program directly at compile time. With constraints checking code inserted, the application program can check integrity constraints by itself without the intervention of the integrity constraint manager. We investigate what kind of statements require the checking of constraints, show how the compiler can detect those statements, and show how constraints checking code can be inserted into the program, by modifying the GCC YACC file for Objectivity/C++, an object-oriented database programming language.

The facilities with new technologies in the recent power plants become larger and need a lot of high cost for maintenance due to stop operations and accidents from the operating machines. Therefore, it claims new systems to monitor the operating status and predict the faults of the machines. This research classifies the normal/abnormal status of the machines into 5 levels which are normal-level/abnormal-level/care-level/dangerous-level/fault and develops the new system that predicts faults without stop operation in power plants. We propose the regional segmentation technique in the frequency domain from the data of the operating machines and generate the Peak-codes similar to the Bar-codes, The high efficient and economic operations of the power plants will be achieved by carrying out the pre-maintenance at the care level of 5 levels in the plants. In order to be utilized easily at power plants, we developed the algorithm appling to a notebook computer from signal acquisition to the discrimination.
