GMT 평판의 볼트조인트 강도 평가 (Estimation of Bolted Joint Strength of Flat Plate of Glass-Mat Reinforced Thermoplastics)

  • In this study, bolted joint made of Glass-Mat Reinforced Thermoplastics (GMT) specimen was under tensile loading to investigate the relation between joint strength and glass-fiber weight fraction of the flat plate specimen. The effect of molding conditions such as the initial size of a GMT charge and molding temperatures was investigated under plane strain condition. In consideration of the specimen geometry, minimum end distance and width of the specimen to induce the bearing fracture mode of the bolted joint were determined. And finally, the effect of the outer diameter of washer and clamping pressure on joint strength was also investigated. Since joint strength is dependent on the local glass-fiber weight fraction, experimentally measured strength was modified, considering its irregular values of the specimen molded under various processing conditions in order to obtain a reasonable correlation between the two.

샌드위치 사출성형의 충전 공정 해석에 대한 수치모사 연구 (A Numerical Study of Sandwich Injection Mold Filling Process)

  • 샌드위치 사출성형 공정은 기존의 사출성형 공정이 가지지 못하는 여러 장점들로 인해 최근 산업적으로 주목 받고 있는 고분자 가공 공정이다. 이 공정의 해석적인 접근은 거의 불가능하므로, 본 연구에서는 수치모사를 통해서 샌드위치 사출성형의 충전 공정을 연구하였다. 수치모사는 기본적으로 유한요소법을 사용하였고 Flow Analysis Network(FAN)/관할체적(Control Volume)법 등을 함께 이용하였다. 그리고 skin polymer의 선단을 확인할 수 있는 기존의 충전율 변수와 함께 skin polymer와 core polymer의 경계를 표시하는 새로운 충전율 변수를 도입하였고 이것을 이용하여 core polymer의 선단을 추적하였다. 새로운 충전율 변수는 두께 방향으로 온도장을 풀기 위해 나눈 각 층에서 정의되었다. 수치모사에 사용된 skin polymer와 core polymer로는 물성이 다른 두 고분자 물질을 주입시켜서 나타나는 충전 형태를 비교했다. 즉, 점도 상수, power-law 지수 등과 같은 유변 물성이 다른 두 고분자 물질을 충전시키기 위해 공정상 필요한 입구에서의 압력 등을 계산했으며 나중에 들어가게 되는 core polymer의 충전 완료 후 금형 내에서의 두께 방향과 흐름 방향으로의 분포 등을 구하였다. 또한 실제 공정 상에서 가공조건에 해당되는 switchover time과 벽 온도 등의 조건을 바꿔가면서 수치모사를 진행하였다. 사례 연구를 통하여 얻어진 물성과 가공 조건에 따른 core polymer의 충전 형태와 입구에서의 압력 등은 샌드위치 사출성형의 산업적 이용에 매우 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.

  • 본 논문은 EPP 비드폼에 대한 증기실 조형공정의 기본 원리들과 과정들에 대해 다루고 있습니다. 증기실 조형은 EPP 기술을 위한 필수적인 공정입니다. 그러나 증기실 조형의 공정조건에 대해 연구가 거의 이루어져 있지 않습니다. EPP 폼의 특징들은 에너지흡수, 다양한 충격보호, 가벼운 무게, 구조상의 견고성과 내구성 등이다. 본 연구에서는 증기실 조형에서 증기압을 변화시켜 EPP 폼 제작을 위한 최적조건을 찾고자 노력하였으며, 무엇보다 증기조형 제품의 수축을 방지하기 위하여 EPP 폼 조형후 노내 가열을 수행하였다. 다른 노내 가열 온도들에서 시간에 따라 무게가 바뀌는 것을 관찰함으로써 폼수축의 메커니즘을 확인하는 것이 가능하였다. 인장시험과 SEM 해석을 수행하여 이들 실험결과들을 뒷받침할 수 있었고, 다른 증기압들에서 조형된 제품들에 대해 치수안정성을 조사하였다.

금속분말 사출성형된 Ti-6Al-4V 합금의 미세조직 및 기계적 물성 (Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Ti-6Al-4V Alloy Processed by Metal Injection Molding)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of sintering condition on the microstructure evolution and tensile properties of the Ti-6Al-4V alloy sample processed by metal injection molding (MIM) in terms of the sizes of the alpha morphology and pore found in the matrix. For this purpose, a series of MIM were conducted on this sample at various sintering temperatures ranging from 1173 to 1373 K for three hours followed by furnace cooling, observed by the scanning electron microscopy. The microstructures sintered in this study showed that, with increasing sintering temperature over beta transus temperature, the transformation of the equiaxed alpha into transformed beta was attained while the size of pores would tend to decrease. Thus, the strength remained unchanged significantly in the tension while ductility increased to some extent as sintering temperature increased. Such mechanical behavior would be explained in relation to the microstructure evolution of the Ti-6Al-4V sample via the MIM.

  • In this study, to achieve good electrical conductivity of a charging terminal component in electric vehicles, we investigated the microstructure evolution of pure-Cu subjected to metal injection molding by controlling the sintering variables, such as temperature and time. Thus, three samples were sintered at temperatures ranging from 1000 ℃ to 1050 ℃ near to the melting temperature of 1085 ℃ for 1 and 10 h after thermal evaporation of binder at 730 ℃. Both procedures were made using a unified furnace under Ar+H2 gas with high purity. The structural observation displayed that the grain size as well as the compactness (a reciprocal of porosity) increased simultaneously as temperature and time increased. This gave rise to high thermal conductivity of 90% IACS together with high density, which was mainly attributed to decrease in fractions of grain boundaries and micro-pores working as effective scattering center for electron movement.

비구면 유리 어레이 렌즈 성형용 초경합금 코어 초정밀 연삭 가공에 관한 연구 (Study on Ultra-Precision Grinding Processing for Aspheric Glass Array Lens WC Core)

  • Plastic array lens are cheap to manufacture; however, plastic is not resistant to high temperatures and moisture. Optical glass represents a better solution but is a more-expensive alternative. Glass array lens can be produced using lithography or precision-molding techniques. The lithography process is commonly used, for instance, in the semiconductor industry; however, the manufacturing costs are high, the processing time is quite long, and spherical aberration is a problem. To obtain high-order aspherical shapes, mold-core manufacturing is conducted through ultra-precision grinding machining. In this paper, a $4{\times}1$ mold core was manufactured using an ultra-precision machine with a jig for the injection molding of an aspherical array lens. The machined mold core was measured using the Form TalySurf PGI 2+ contact-stylus profilometer. The measurement data of the mold core are suitable for the design criterion of below 0.5 um.

액체생검용 Lab-on-a-Disc의 평탄도 향상을 위한 최적화 (Design Optimization to achieve an enhanced flatness of a Lab-on-a-Disc for liquid biopsy)

  • Lab-on-a-disc is a circular disc shape of cartridge that can be used for blood-based liquid biopsy to diagnose an early stage of cancer. Currently, liquid biopsies are regarded as a time-consuming process, and require sophisticated skills to precisely separate cell-free DNA (cfDNA) and circulating tumor cells (CTCs) floating in the bloodstream for accurate diagnosis. However, by applying the lab-on-a-disc to liquid biopsy, the entire process can be operated automatically. To do so, the lab-on-a-disc should be designed to prevent blood leakage during the centrifugation, transport, and dilution of blood inside the lab-on-a-disc in the process of liquid biopsy. In this study, the main components of lab-on-a-disc for liquid biopsy are fabricated by injection molding for mass production, and ultrasonic welding is employed to ensure the bonding strength between the components. To guarantee accurate ultrasonic welding, the flatness of the components is optimized numerically by using the response surface methodology with four main injection molding processing parameters, including the mold & resin temperatures, the injection speed, and the packing pressure. The 27 times finite element analyses using Moldflow® reveal that the injection time and the packing pressure are the critical factors affecting the flatness of the components with an optimal set of values for all four processing parameters. To further improve the flatness of the lab-on-a-disc components for stable mass production, a quarter-disc shape of lab-on-a-disc with a radius of 75 mm is used instead of a full circular shape of the disc, and this significantly decreases the standard deviation of flatness to 30% due to the reduced overall length of the injection molded components by one-half. Moreover, it is also beneficial to use a quarter disc shape to manage the deviation of flatness under 3 sigma limits.

Structure -Properties Relations of Polypropylene/ Liquid Crystalline Polymer Blends

  • The blends of polypropylene (PP) with glass filled thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer (LCP-g) have been prepared by melt mixing techniques at different blend ratios. The thermal, dynamic mechanical, crystalline and morphological characteristics of these blends were investigated. Higher percent crystallinity was observed for 10% level of LCP-g in the blend in comparison to that of other blend ratios. The thermal stability increased with LCP-g concentration in the blend with PP. The variation of storage modulus, stiffness and loss modulus as a function of blend ratios suggested the phase inversion at the 50% level of LCP-g in the blend. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) photographs showed the creation of voids and destruction of the fiber structures during the dynamic mechanical measurements. Processing behavior of the blends depended on the fiber forming characteristics of LCP-g, which again varied with the molding temperatures.

제조조건에 따른 두부의 물성연구 (Rheological Studies of the Tofu upon the Processing Conditions)

  • 두부의 제조공정(응고제 종류 및 양, 두유가열온도, 성형압력)에 따른 두부의 물성학적 성질의 변화를 파손강도와 응력완화현상을 이용하여 측정, 분석하였다. 각 응고제$(CaCl_2,\;MgCl_2,\;CaSO_4,\;GDL)$ 중에서 $CaCl_2$가 가장 뛰어난 파손강도를 보였으며 대부분 0.3%에서 최대치를 보였다. 가열온도는 $95^{\circ}C$에서 최대의 강도를 나타내었고 성형압력 15 kgf에서 모든 응고제를 이용한 두부는 성형되었으며, 일반적으로 성형압력이 높을수록 두부조직의 강도도 증가하였다. 각 제조조건에 따른 응력완화 실험에서는 초기응력 값이 파손강도의 결과와 일치하는 경향을 보였고 탄성성분과 점성성분 또한 파손강도의 변화와 같은 경향을 나타내었다. 응력완화실험을 통하여 측정한 두부조직의 물성을 수학적 모델에 적용하여 조직의 변화를 수치화하여 설명하였다.

TRIP1180 판재의 냉간 스탬핑공정에서 금형강의 경도 특성에 따른 내마모성 평가 (Quantitative Evaluation of Wear Resistance of Stamping Tool with Respect to Hardness of Tool Materials in Cold Stamping of TRIP1180 Steel Sheets)

  • The purpose of this study was to quantitatively evaluate the influence of hardness of tool materials on wear resistance in the sheet metal forming process. Punches used in the wear test were made of STD-11 and K340 tool material, and the tempering temperature was set to 530℃ and 500℃, respectively, to control the hardness of the tool materials. The punches mimic the shape of stamping tool of automotive body component to reflect its plastic deformation, and are designed to concentrate wear on the curvature region of punches. Progressive die and coil sheet were used to save time, cost, and raw sheet materials. By quantitatively measuring the wear depth of the punches, the wear behavior and mechanism of the punches were investigated, and characteristics of hardness and wear resistance according to tool materials and tempering temperatures were evaluated. Testing results indicate that the punch made of K340 tool steel with higher hardness had better wear resistance than that of STD-11 tool steel, and the hardness and wear resistance of tool steel were significantly impacted by the tempering temperature.
