  • Modern Ocean wave forecasting systems predict the mean sea state, as characterized by the wave spectrum, in a box of size ${\Delta}x{\Delta}y$ surrounding a grid point at location x. It is shown that this approach also allows the determination of deviations from the mean sea state, i.e. the probability distribution function of the surface elevation. Hence, ocean wave forecasting may provide valuable information on extreme sea states.

  • 현대사회의 환경오염 문제는 공업화에 따라 급격하게 변화하고 있기 때문에, 환경오염 문제는 다양한 분야에 직간접적인 영향을 미치고 있다. 특히 중공업 오염원은 입지 선택과 부동산 가치에 주요한 변수로 작용될 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 중국의 대표적인 철강 도시인 마안산시에 있는13개 아파트 단지의 거래 데이터에 기반하고 헤도닉 가격 모형 (Hedonic Price Model)을 이용해서 환경오염 중에 중공업 오염을 중심으로 부동산 가격에 대해서 미친 영향을 연구했고 결론을 내렸다. 연구 결과는 주택에서 오염원의 거리가 멀어 질수록 주택 가격에 인상 효과가 있다.

  • The $18^{th}$ century's Industrial Revolution brought about influx of commerce, industry, and agricultural population into the urban areas, entering the $19^{th}$ century. Quality of rural communities declined, and the exploding population in the cities gave rise to various problems. 'Mietskaserne' Blockhousing was constructed by the 'Hobrechtplan', but led to social problems such as poor living conditions, insufficient sunshine due to overcrowding, slums due to incomplete urban infrastructure, epidemics, and so on. Starting in the early $20^{th}$ century, Berlin has driven forward a remodeling plan under the motto of 'critical reconstruction (kritische Rekonstruktion)'. It is performed in the place, which represents the vicissitudinous history of Berlin with site plans coexisting past with presence, using modern vocabulary of architectural forms. Reconstructing a city is a process which not only raises the economic value of each building consisting a city, but also a redevelopment process that brings out cultural value of an era. When a new era emerges buildings get reconstructed or rebuilt, and thereby form the identity of a city by reflecting its society, culture, politics, economy, and history. Old German architecture were not destroyed or rebuilt recklessly just by the fact that they are functionally or aesthetically outdated. Each building is treated as precious cultural heritage reflecting the history. This is how Berlin is being transformed today.

Coreless Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Transformers - Fundamental Characteristics and Application Potential

  • In this article, the fundamental concept, characteristics and application potentials of coreless printed-circuit-board (PCB) transformers are described. Coreless PCB transformers do not have the limitations associated with magnetic cores, such as the frequency limitation, magnetic saturation and core losses. In addition, they eliminate the manual winding process and its associated problems, including labor cost, reliability problems and difficulties in ensuring transformer quality in the manufacturing process. The parameters of the printed windings can be precisely controlled in modern PCB technology. Because of the drastic reduction in the vertical dimension, coreless PCB transformers can achieve high power density and are suitable for applications in which stringent height requirements for the circuits have to be met. A transformer's power density of $24W/cm^2$ has been reported in a power conversion application. When used in an isolation amplifier application, coreless PCB transformers tested so far enable the amplifier to achieve a remarkable linear frequency range of 1MHz, which is almost eight times higher than the frequency range of 120kHz in existing Integrated-Circuit products. PCB materials offer extremely high isolation voltage, typically from 15kV to 40kV, which is higher than many other isolation means such as optocouplers. It is envisaged that coreless PCB transformers can replace traditional core-based transformers in some industrial applications. Their application potentials deserve more attention and exploration.

Research on the Evaluation of Communication Activities Space in City Park

  • With the methodology of AHP, this paper focuses on communication activities and their constituents in city parks, selecting 11 constituents, natural or artificial, and establishes an evaluation model on the basis of the analysis of the characteristics of tourists' communication activities in order to obtain the weight and order of importance of the constituents of communication activities space. First-grade indicators influence weight and the order of the constituents of communication activities space are: artificial constituents (0.6614) > natural constituents (0.3386). The weight and order of five secondary indicators attached to natural constituents: private space (0.1538) > shade tree (0.0955) > gentle slope mound (0.0474) > beautiful waterscape (0.0270) > sunshine lawn (0.0149); the weight and order of six secondary indicators attached to artificial constituents: field boundary (0.2865) > Leisure chairs (0.1843) > resting areas (0.0795) > appropriate square (0.0533) > tree-lined road (0.0352) > landscape sketch (0.0227).Using modern decision analysis methodology to research the relationship of environment constituent elements has great theoretical and practical significance for the scientific design and construction of suitable environment for human needs.

동해 구 삼척개발 사택의 건립과 건축적 특징에 관한 조사연구 -등록문화재 A호와 2·3호 사택을 중심으로- (A Research Study on the Architectural Characteristics of old Samcheok Construction Company Housing in Donghae City -focused on A and No. 2·3 Houses as Registered Cultural Properties-)

  • The old Samcheok construction company housing in Donghae City was built for employees of Nitrogenous lime factory with railway construction in 1939. The 31 company houses are arranged in a rows including a House A, two No. 2 and 3 Houses, a dormitory, 12 row houses of two households, and 15 row houses of four households. At present, they are preserved with prototype at that time of building as a private company. Researching the architectural characteristics from A and No. $2{\cdot}3$ detached houses of them, the results are as follows. The tea room, living room, and kitchen are centralized and connected with toilet, bathroom, and maid's room by corridor. The exterior wall was finished with paintwork on cement mortar on stud wall framing plastered. The key exterior elements such as diamond shaped asbestos slate, large openings, corner bay window, lintel cornice are in accordance with drawings that they were first designed. The wooden roof structure is based on the structure that supports transverse load with a beam and beam plate instead of thrust. The kitchen and toilet are remodelled and only seem to be a mere shadow of their former self, but the position of sink and toilet bowl is the same as before.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze about the extension of user experience in the digital space. Through the digital technology and virtual space, the city's new environment is being changed. it makes people activate their aesthetic experience. Simultaneously, it elevates satisfaction levels regarding people's aesthetic experience. Research methods and settings of the range to study on the Extension of User Experience are as follows: First, establish digital space's characteristics comparing digital space at the structural change-points in modern society. Second, experience's approch way through the digital media in the contemporary space. And understand the concept about a variety of User Experience. Third. to classify the elements of access control for the user experience. Experience is being expanded through the generation process. Fourth, investigate analysis of the case studies, focused on the architecture and space design_Media installations that appear in the city park, the city's landmark buildings facade, the building facade by offering commercially applied for brand marketing_ announced through the media recently. Also, it is to look at the physical elements through digital media and to analyze the applicability of the public space. Therefore, the new approach to digital implementation shall be determined by looking in the direction of the user approaches.

수도 서비스의 진화! 소비자 중심의 스마트 물 관리 - Smart Water City 시범사업 - (Evolution of Water supply system! Smart Water Management for customer - Smart Water City Pilot Project -)

  • Korea's modern waterworks began with construction of DDukdo water treatment plant in 1908 and has been growing rapidly along with the country's economic development. As a result, water supply rates have reached 98.5% based on 2013. Despite multilateral efforts for high-quality water supply, such as introduction of advanced water treatment process, expansion of waterworks infrastructure and so on, distrust for drinking tap water has been continuing and domestic consumption rate of tap water is in around 5% level and extremely poor comparing to advanced countries such as the United States(56%), Japan(52%), etc. Recently, the water management has been facing the new phase due to water environmental degradation caused by climate change, aging facilities, etc. Therefore, K-water has converted water management paradigm from the "clean and safe water" to the "healthy water" and been pushing the Smart Water City(SWC) Pilot Project in order to develop and spread new water supply models for consumers to believe and drink tap water through systematic water quality and quantity management combining ICT in the whole water supply process. The SWC pilot projects in Pa-ju city and Go-ryeong county were an opportunity to check the likelihood of the "smart water management" as the answer to future water management. It is needed to examine the necessity of smart water management introduction and nationwide SWC expansion in order to improve water welfare for people and resolve domestic & foreign water problems.

한국 대도시의 도시화 특성 : 이동, 통근자 자료 분석을 통한 도시화 단계의 실증적 검토 (Urbanization of Large Cities in Korea : Assessing Development Stages using Migration and Commuting data)

  • 최근 산업도시 성장 이후 탈산업화 시대에 전개되는 새로운 도시화에 대한 논의가 포스트모던 도시, 소비도시 등으로 다양하게 전개된다. 도시화의 단계적 접근에서는 인구 변화와 이동에 기초하여 거대도시는 도시화의 후기 단계인 재도시화를 경험하고 있으며, 이러한 도시화 단계는 시차를 두고 점진적으로 하위 규모 도시에서 나타날 것으로 추정된다. 그러나 산업 재구조화는 인구 규모만으로는 포착되지 않는 새로운 도시화 특성을 유발할 것으로, 본 연구는 한국 대도시의 도시화 특성을 이동, 통근 인구 그리고 이들의 지리적, 사회적 특성에 기초하여 검토하였다. 대도시별 도시화 경험은 다르게 나타나는데, 서울은 단계적 도시화 과정을 거치지만, 다른 대도시들은 산업도시와 탈산업도시로의 전이에서 다양한 모습을 드러낸다. 특히, 지방 대도시의 경우 산업 기반의 교외화가 이루어졌으나 중심 도시의 편리한 주거, 생활 환경으로 중심 도시에 거주하며 주변으로 역통근하는 인구가 늘고 중장년층의 경제활동 가구가 대도시로 유입되며 주거 기능이 새로운 도시의 역할로 확대되는데, 이는 한국 대도시의 새로운 도시화 특성이라 하겠다.
