A cold gas blow-down hydraulic actuation system is widely used in missiles that require an actuation system with a fast response time under a limited space with a short operating time and large loads on the actuators. The system consists of a pneumatic part that supplies the regulated high-pressure gas to a reservoir, and a hydraulic part that supplies pressurized hydraulic oil to the actuators by the pressurized gas in the reservoir. This paper proposes a mathematical model to analyze and simulate the pneumatic part of an actuation system that supplies the operating power to the actuators. The mathematical model is based on the ideal gas equation and also considers the models for heat transfer. The model is applied to the pressure vessel and the gas part of the reservoir, and the model for the pneumatic part is established by connecting the two models for the parts. The model is validated through a comparison of the simulation results with the experimental results. The comparison shows that the suggested model could be useful in the design of the pneumatic part of a cold gas blow-down type hydraulic actuation system.
Eight tight sandstone reservoir samples from $He_8$ and $Shan_1$ Formations of the Sulige Gas field were selected to perform gas-water micro-displacement experiment based on authentic sandstone micro-model. The gas pressure-relief experiment was proposed for the first time to simulate the pressure change and gas-water percolation characteristics in the process of gas exploitation. The experiment results show that: (1) In the process of gas accumulation, the gas preferentially flows into the well-connected pores and throats with large radius, but rarely flows into the area without pores and throats. (2) Under sufficient gas drive, the water in pores and throats usually exists in the forms of 'thin water film', 'thick water film', and 'water column', but under insufficient gas drive, gas fails to flow into new pathways in time, so that the reservoirs with large pores and throats are high in water cut. (3) Under the same water saturation, the reservoirs with better petrophysical properties has higher gas recovery factor within unit time. Under the same petrophysical conditions, the reservoirs with lower water saturation show higher gas recovery factor within unit time. The higher the permeability, the stronger the liquid carrying capacity of reservoirs.

Development of a dynamic engine model is essential to predict and analyze of dynamic characteristics from a natural gas engine. Reducing the harmful exhaust emissions can be accomplished by a precise air-fuel ratio control. In this paper, the dynamic engine model was proposed and included mixture formation and intake process because the dynamic characteristics can be affected by the mixture components such as an air and a gaseous fuel. The air mass flow, the partial pressure ratio, and the gas constant are changed by variations of the components in the mixture formation and intake process. The dynamic engine model is applied to the natural gas engine for validation test. Experimental results show that the dynamic engine model is effective to predict the dynamic characteristics of the natural gas engine.
A simplified model of plastic layer and internal gas pressure In a coke oven is presented. We calculate internal gas pressure using presented model. And results are compared with calculated results using experimental data. Results show the difference of internal gas pressure by coal composition. The model is used to show that the permeability at the resolidification end of the plastic layer is a key determinant of the magnitude of the internal gas pressure.

ln this study, a natural gas pipeline network model was established using STONER. First a map of natural gas pipeline network was drawn on STONER and then the length and diameter of the pipe were inputted. And as the specific gravity of gas flowing in the pipeline which is the value of natural gas was inputted. Finally in order to decide the pipeline variables and gas temperature, through the verification with observed real data, the possible error was minimized. For the verification, the pipeline variables and gas temperature were assumed and the pipeline network analysis was accomplished with real demand data. The square deviation of analysed pressure from observed pressure was calculated and the minimum case was selected for the optimum pipeline variables and gas temperature. Thus a proper natural gas pipeline network model for real network was established.
Republic of Korea announced the reduction target to be around 30% of business as usual greenhouse gas emissions by 2020. College campuses were ranked at the 5th of high energy consumption areas in the building sectors. Target management scheme was designed to set greenhouse gas emissions target including several college campuses. Previous studies showed the amount of greenhouse gas emissions with several assumptions such as the applications of renewable energy systems and light emitting diode lamps, etc. Long-range Energy Alternatives Planning model was utilized to simulate future greenhouse gas emissions. This study sets standard model labs for energy saving action programs by applying guidance studies. It has been deduced that energy saving action programs was responsible for reducing 949.5 kWh for each standard model lab and the total reduction of all 59 model labs in the Engineering College building has been calculated to 56,020.5 kWh. The objective of the study is to provide guidelines on standard model laboratory for greenhouse gas emissions reduction on the campus.
A fundamental mathematical model for mass transfer processes has been used to understand the air pollution control process in biotrickling filtration and to evaluate the mass transfer coefficients of gas/liquid (trickling liquid), gas/solid (biomass) and liquid/solid based upon experimental results and mathematical model calculations for selected operating conditions. The mass transfer models for the utilization of the steady-state mass balance for gas/liquid, and dynamic mass balance model for gas/solid & liquid/solid in biotrickling filters were established and discussed. The mass transfer model considered the reactor to comprise finite sections, for each of which dynamic mass balances for gas/solid and liquid/solid system were solved by numerical analysis code (numerical iteration). To determine the mass transfer coefficients ($K_La$) of gas/liquid, gas/solid & liquid/solid in a biotrickling filter, the calculation results based upon mass balance equation was optimized to coincide with the experimental results for the selected operating conditions. Finally, this study contributed the development of experimental methods and discussed the mathematical model to determine the mass transfer coefficients in a biotrickling filtration for air pollution control.

Gas leak detection system is a key to minimize the loss of life due to the explosiveness and toxicity of gas. Most of the leak detection systems detect by gas sensors or thermal imaging cameras. To improve the performance of gas leak detection system using single-modal methods, the paper propose multimodal approach to gas sensor data and thermal camera data in developing a gas type identification model. MultimodalGasData, a multimodal open-dataset, is used to compare the performance of the four models developed through multimodal approach to gas sensors and thermal cameras with existing models. As a result, 1D CNN and GasNet models show the highest performance of 96.3% and 96.4%. The performance of the combined early fusion model of 1D CNN and GasNet reached 99.3%, 3.3% higher than the existing model. We hoped that further damage caused by gas leaks can be minimized through the gas leak detection system proposed in the study.
This study presents a numerical method for calculating gas flow around a sanitary landfill gas vent, when gas flows by pressure. The method described is a three-dimensional compartmental model and includes methods to determine the dimensions for the model. Using the numerical method, controll of press and gases flowing out to the air through final cover soil, and degine of sanitary landfill gas vents.
Shale gas formations exhibit strong mechanical and strength anisotropies. Thus, it is necessary to study the effect of anisotropy on the hydraulic fracture initiation pressure. The calculation model for the in-situ stress of the bedding formation is improved according to the effective stress theory. An analytical model of the stresses around wellbore in shale gas reservoirs, in consideration of stratum dip direction, dip angle, and in-situ stress azimuth, has been built. Besides, this work established a calculation model for the stress around the perforation holes. In combination with the tensile failure criterion, a prediction model for the hydraulic fracture initiation pressure in the shale gas reservoirs is put forward. The error between the prediction result and the measured value for the shale gas reservoir in the southern Sichuan Province is only 3.5%. Specifically, effects of factors including elasticity modulus, Poisson's ratio, in-situ stress ratio, tensile strength, perforation angle (the angle between perforation direction and the maximum principal stress) of anisotropic formations on hydraulic fracture initiation pressure have been investigated. The perforation angle has the largest effect on the fracture initiation pressure, followed by the in-situ stress ratio, ratio of tensile strength to pore pressure, and the anisotropy ratio of elasticity moduli as the last. The effect of the anisotropy ratio of the Poisson's ratio on the fracture initiation pressure can be ignored. This study provides a reference for the hydraulic fracturing design in shale gas wells.
