Adaptive Random Access Algorithm for HIPERLAN/2 (HIPERLAN/2를 위한 적응적 랜덤 액세스 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we proposed and evaluated ARAH(Adaptive Random Access algorithm for HIPERLAN/2) to improve system performance. In this paper, HIPERLAN/2 uses OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) modulation scheme to select appropriate PHY mode by Radio Channel Quality, Proposed the ARAH scheme uses these 7 PHY mode when mobile terminal determines the RCH(Random CHannel) number for random access. In this paper, these 7 PHY mode divided into two group, good and bad, and will be given high priority to mobile terminals which are in a good group. In the result of performance evaluation. ARAH algorithm, ARAH has a better performance of throughput and delay than existing algorithm.

  • This paper propose a advanced technique for exciting and receiving the guided torsional wave to detect flaws in pipe systems. There are some difficulties in selecting and exciting of modes by using the nickel strip attached on pipe systems, such as qualification of residual magnetic field and multi-exciting of the unwanted modes etc. In order to there difficulties we propose the new sensor, so called Crossed-coils sensor. We will prove that it is possible to select the modes to be excited and to find a optimal excitation condition for torsional mode by using the proposed sensor.

  • In this study we focus on the effect of the interaction between humans and reactive television when emotion recognition through facial expression mechanism is used. Most of today's user interfaces in electronic products are passive and are not properly fitted into users' needs. In terms of the user centered device, we propose that the emotion based reactive television is the most effective in interaction compared to other passive input products. We have developed and researched next generation cognitive TV models in user centered. In this paper we present a result of the experiment that had been taken with Fraunhofer IIS $SHORE^{TM}$ demo software version to measure emotion recognition. This new approach was based on the real time cognitive TV models and through this approach we studied the relationship between humans and cognitive TV. This study follows following steps: 1) Cognitive TV systems can be on automatic ON/OFF mode responding to motions of people 2) Cognitive TV can directly select channels as face changes (ex, Neutral Mode and Happy Mode, Sad Mode, Angry Mode) 3) Cognitive TV can detect emotion recognition from facial expression of people within the fixed time and then if Happy mode is detected the programs of TV would be shifted into funny or interesting shows and if Angry mode is detected it would be changed to moving or touching shows. In addition, we focus on improving the emotion recognition through facial expression. Furthermore, the improvement of cognition TV based on personal characteristics is needed for the different personality of users in human to computer interaction. In this manner, the study on how people feel and how cognitive TV responds accordingly, plus the effects of media as cognitive mechanism will be thoroughly discussed.

  • Aircraft midair collisions are dangerous events that can cause massive casualties. To prevent this, civil aviation has mandated the installation of TCAS (ACAS), which is becoming more sophisticated with the help of new technologies. However, there are institutional problems in collecting data for TCAS research in Korea, limiting the ability to obtain data for personal research. ADS-B and Mode-S automatic broadcast various information about the flight status of the aircraft. This data also contains information about TCAS RA, which can be used by anyone to find examples of TCAS RA operation. We used the databases of ADS-B Exchange and Opensky-Network to acquire data and visually represent three TCAS RA cases through Python coding. We also identified domestic TCAS cases in the first half of 2023 and analyzed their characteristics to confirm the usefulness of the data.

  • As a measure of the center of data, arithmetical mean, median, mode, harmonic mean and geometric mean are generally used. Students must learn qualitative aspect of average values as well as its calculation for its adequate use. As the result of the learning, they should be able to select the appropriate average value according to the characteristic of data and problem context. For this object, the historical origin and visual interpretation of average values were introduced in this paper. And to help teaching several meanings of average values, several examples including context were suggested.

  • This paper presents a new algorithm to select optimal parameters and location of power system stabilizer (PSS). A new performance measure, which evaluates the share of a particular mode among state responses, is introduced. The gradient of the performance measure with respect to PSS parametes is derived in an explicit form, so optimal parameters of PSS can be obtained by the steepest descent method. The machine, with which it is most probable to reduce the performance measure, is identified as the optimum site for PSS application.

  • We describe here solid-extraction and derivatisation methods of ${\beta}$-adrenoceptor blocking drugs used for the treatment of various cardiovascular disorders such as hypertension, angina pectoris and cardiac arrhythmia: propranolol, metoprolol, sotalol, timolol, oxprenolol, alpranolol, atenolol, pindolol. Solid-extraction and derivatisation methods are described involving the use of Bond Elut Certify cartridges, MSTFA and MBTFA.   • In fluorescence mode confocal scanning microscope, level of detected signal is very low. In object scanning type confocal scanning microscope, the additional optical system with objective lens and plane mirror was proposed to increase signal intensity, but there was none for beam scanning type confocal scanning microscope. We propose reflecting optical systems which improve signal intensity in beam scanning type confocal scanning microscope. We choose one of the proposed optical systems and design the optical system, i.e., select optical components and assign distances between the selected components. To design the optical system, we use finite ray tracing method and make cost function to be minimized.

  • This paper investigates optimal locations of piezoelectric actuators and sensors on a thin plate. To locate actuators and sensors properly is important in controlling modal vibrations well. A piezoelectric sensitivity index is introduced to select optimal locations for vibration control of each mode. The sensitivity expresses the efficiency of actuating and sensing modal forces according to locations of a piezoelectric material on a plate. The piezoelectric sensitivities for two types of plate, an all-clamped plate, and a free-free plate, are derived theoretically and are verified experimentally. Also, its usefulness Is experimentally shown to control vibration of the all-clamped plate with piezoelectric materials.
