  • In this paper, we implement an unmanned delivery robot system with Robot Operating System(ROS)-based mobile manipulator, and introduce the technologies employed for the system implementation. The robot consists of a mobile robot capable of autonomous navigation inside the building using an elevator and a Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm(SCARA)-Type manipulator equipped with a vacuum pump. The robot can determines the position and orientation for picking up a package through image segmentation and corner detection using the camera on the manipulator. The proposed system has a user interface implemented to check the delivery status and determine the real-time location of the robot through a web server linked to the application and ROS, and recognizes the shipment and address at the delivery station through You Only Look Once(YOLO) and Optical Character Recognition(OCR). The effectiveness of the system is validated through delivery experiments conducted within a 4-story building.

  • The use of infrared range-finder sensor as the environment recognition system for mobile robot have the advantage of low sensing cost compared with the use of other vision sensor such as laser finder CCD camera. However, it is not easy to find the previous works on the use of infrared range-finder sensor for a mobile robot because of the non-linear characteristic of that. This paper describes the error due to non-linearity of a sensor and the correction of it using neural network. The neural network consists of multi-layer perception and Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm is applied to learning it. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified from experiment.

  • This paper represents the stable path recognition by the ultrasonic sensor which gathers navigation environments and the monocular image sensor which generates the self localization information of mobile robot. The proposed ultrasonic sensor and vision camera system recognizes the target and extracts parameters for generating the world map and self localization. Therefore, this paper has developed an indoor mobile robot and has stably demonstrated in a corridor environment.

  • We proposes integrated information system, Service Robot Information System(SRIS), for mobile robot. The system has objectives that can heir efficient management and sharing as support information for mobile service robot like recognition, navigation, manipulation and modeling. This paper introduces the concert and architecture of SRIS. An Implementation is done by using ER based database and CAD modeling which is DXF format. The experimental shows the result of object and environment map matching by SLAM. This system is expected that can help reduce the cost and efforts of information management under multiple mobile robot environment.

  • For an autonomous mobile robot localization, it is very important for the robot to be able to recognize indoor environment and match a detected object to an object defined within a map developed either online or of offline. Given the map defining the locations of geometric beacons like wall and corner existing in the robot operation environment, this paper presents a stereo ultrasonic sensor based method practically applicable in recognizing the geometric beacons in real-time. The stereo ultrasonic sensor used in the experiment consists of an ultrasonic transmitter and two ultrasonic receivers placed symmetrically about the transmitter Experimental results are provided to demonstrate that the proposed method is more efficient in recognizing wall and coner than the conventional method of using multiple number of transmitter-receiver pairs.

  • We implement an educational indoor autonomous mobile robot system that integrates LiDAR sensing information with RGB-D camera image information and exploits the integrated information. This system uses the existing sensing method employing a LiDAR with a small number of scan channels to acquire LiDAR sensing information. To remedy the weakness of the existing LiDAR sensing method, we propose the 3D structure recognition technique using depth images from a RGB-D camera and the deep learning based object recognition algorithm and apply the proposed technique to the system.

  • This paper proposes a hybrid visual servoing algorithm for the object tracking by a mobile robot with the stereo camera. The mobile robot with the stereo camera performs an object recognition and object tracking using the SIFT and CAMSHIFT algorithms for the hybrid visual servoing. The CAMSHIFT algorithm using stereo camera images has been used to obtain the three-dimensional position and orientation of the mobile robot. With the hybrid visual servoing, a stable balance control has been realized by a control system which calculates a desired angle of the center of gravity whose location depends on variations of link rotation angles of the manipulator. A PID controller algorithm has adopted in this research for the control of the manipulator since the algorithm is simple to design and it does not require unnecessary complex dynamics. To demonstrate the control performance of the hybrid visual servoing, real experiments are performed using the mobile manipulator system developed for this research.

  • In this paper, the implementation of creative engineering robot with MCU platform is described. This robot, as a platform of robot system to be used as creative engineering education, has to satisfy restrictions in many aspects in order to study algorithm and apply for the processor based function and pattern recognition application. Considering many restrictions of the mobile platform for creative robot system, we made this robot autonomous by using efficiently the LINUX embedded system. And we choose Marvell Monahan processor(PXA320) as MCU flatform, and used CentOS5.2 as an embedded OS that has the function of robustness and optimality. For flexibility and modularity, the platform has expansion ports. The results of experiment are described to show the pattern matching of creative engineering mobile robot with LINUX programming environments.

  • In this paper, we confirm that the two properties, 'existence of obstacles' and 'connectivity between obstacles', involved in information acquired by a robot can be used efficiently for location recognition of the robot by using rough sets. Moreover, we propose a method which can reduce ambiguity of the location recognition by applying the properties and recognize the robot's location with distrustful information of the environment where the robot moves. We confirmed it through computer simulation that a robot moves to a goal with only the map containing not enough information on the real environment.
