  • The mobile agent, which handles a given task while migrating between the sensor nodes, moves including the execution commands and task processing results. This increases the size of the mobile agent, causing the network to load, leading to the migration time delay and the loss of migration reliability. This paper presents the method of lightening the mobile agent using distributed object technology and the algorithm for exploring and providing the optimal migration path that is actively performed in the event of network traffic, and it proposes a method to ensure the reliability of the mobile agent migration by applying them. In addition, through the comparative analysis experiments based on agent size and network traffic for the migration time of mobile agent equipped with active rules in sensor network-based mobile agent middleware environment, applying the proposed methods proves to ensure the autonomy and migration reliability of the mobile agent.

  • While driving, the manual use of a mobile phone is heavily restricted due to the interference with the primary driving task. An alternative would be the use of speech interface. The current study aims to provide a guideline to implementation of a speech interface to the mobile phone. To do so, an expert evaluation was made and it revealed that a speech interface requires less workload, less performance degradation of the driving task than that of the keypad interface. To make speech interfaces more usable, new improvements are suggested. Subjective workload can be reduced and user satisfaction can be improved without degrading the primary task performance, for instance, by letting the user interrupt the speech of the phone, eliminating the repetitive words, letting the user know clearly what makes an error, providing a way to go back to the previous state, reducing the usage of keypad buttons and reducing the amount of the information on the screen.

  • Recently, due to the rapid development of IT (information technologies), a variety of attempts have been made to incorporate IT into other fields such as finance and manufacturing. Among them, a novel concept in the spotlight is FinTech, which is a combined word of finance and technology. FinTech is a line of business demonstrating an innovation development through IT in the financial service industry. One of the most popular types of FinTech is a third-party mobile payment service (MPS), the examples of which can be easily found in South Korea while the actual use of the service is relatively inactive. Therefore, the main purpose of this paper is to empirically investigate influencing factors of intention to use the third-party MPS. Based on individual characteristics and the task-technology fit model, the research model of the study is developed, with switching cost included as a moderating variable. The results of structural equation model testing with 316 potential users of Kakao Pay, one of the most popular business models of the third-party MPS, show that innate innovativeness, task characteristics, and technology characteristics are positively influencing task-technology fit, which in turn significantly affects intention to use the third-party MPS. The negative moderating role of switching cost is also found. These results could help managers develop better strategies to motivate potential users to participate in their services.

  • The crowdsourcing software development (CSD) is growing rapidly in the open call format in a competitive environment. In CSD, tasks are posted on a web-based CSD platform for CSD workers to compete for the task and win rewards. Task searching and assigning are very important aspects of the CSD environment because tasks posted on different platforms are in hundreds. To search and evaluate a thousand submissions on the platform are very difficult and time-consuming process for both the developer and platform. However, there are many other problems that are affecting CSD quality and reliability of CSD workers to assign the task which include the required knowledge, large participation, time complexity and incentive motivations. In order to attract the right person for the right task, the execution of action plans will help the CSD platform as well the CSD worker for the best matching with their tasks. This study formalized the task assignment method by utilizing different situations in a CSD competition-based environment in artificial intelligence (AI) planning. The results from this study suggested that assigning the task has many challenges whenever there are undefined conditions, especially in a competitive environment. Our main focus is to evaluate the AI automated planning to provide the best possible solution to matching the CSD worker with their personality type.

  • In this paper, we consider the resource allocation and offloading decisions of device-to-device (D2D) cooperative UAV-assisted mobile edge computing (MEC) system, where the device with task request is served by unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) equipped with MEC server and D2D device with idle resources. On the one hand, to ensure the fairness of time-delay sensitive devices, when UAV computing resources are relatively sufficient, an optimization model is established to minimize the maximum delay of device computing tasks. The original non-convex objective problem is decomposed into two subproblems, and the suboptimal solution of the optimization problem is obtained by alternate iteration of two subproblems. On the other hand, when the device only needs to complete the task within a tolerable delay, we consider the offloading priorities of task to minimize UAV computing resources. Then we build the model of joint offloading decision and power allocation optimization. Through theoretical analysis based on KKT conditions, we elicit the relationship between the amount of computing task data and the optimal resource allocation. The simulation results show that the D2D cooperation scheme proposed in this paper is effective in reducing the completion delay of computing tasks and saving UAV computing resources.

  • A mobile manipulator - a serial connection of a mobile robot and a task robot - is a very useful system to achieve various tasks in dangerous environment, because it has the higher performance than a fixed base manipulator in terms of its operational workspace size as well as efficiency. A method for estimating the position of an object in the Cartesian coordinate system based upon the geometrical relationship between the image captured by 2-DOF active camera mounted on mobile robot and the real object, is proposed. With this Position estimation, a method of determining an optimal path for the mobile manipulator from the current position to the position of object estimated by the image information using homogeneous matrices. Finally, the corresponding joint parameters to make the desired displacement are calculated to capture the object through the control of a manipulator. The effectiveness of proposed method is demonstrated by the simulation and real experiments using the mobile manipulator.

  • In recent years, convolutional neural network (CNN) has become the primary method for face detection. But its shortcomings are obvious, such as expensive calculation, heavy model, etc. This makes CNN difficult to use on the mobile devices which have limited computing and storage capabilities. Therefore, the design of lightweight CNN for face detection is becoming more and more important with the popularity of smartphones and mobile Internet. Based on the CPU real-time face detector FaceBoxes, we propose a multi-task lightweight face detector, which has low computing cost and higher detection precision. First, to improve the detection capability, the squeeze and excitation modules are used to extract attention between channels. Then, the textual and semantic information are extracted by shallow networks and deep networks respectively to get rich features. Finally, the landmark detection module is used to improve the detection performance for small faces and provide landmark data for face alignment. Experiments on AFW, FDDB, PASCAL, and WIDER FACE datasets show that our algorithm has achieved significant improvement in the mean average precision. Especially, on the WIDER FACE hard validation set, our algorithm outperforms the mean average precision of FaceBoxes by 7.2%. For VGA-resolution images, the running speed of our algorithm can reach 23FPS on a CPU device.
