이동로봇을 위한 IR 랜드마크 기반의 실시간 실내 측위 시스템 (A Real-time Localization System Based on IR Landmark for Mobile Robot in Indoor Environment)

  • The localization is one of the most important issues for mobile robot. This paper describes a novel localization system for the development of a location sensing network. The system comprises wirelessly controlled infrared landmarks and an image sensor which detects the pixel positions of infrared sources. The proposed localization system can operate irrespective of the illumination condition in the indoor environment. We describe the operating principles of the developed localization system and report the performance for mobile robot localization and navigation. The advantage of the developed system lies in its robustness and low cost to obtain location information as well as simplicity of deployment to build a robot location sensing network. Experimental results show that the developed system outperforms the state-of-the-art localization methods.

페이징 에이전트를 이용한 페이징 방법의 성능 개선 (Performance Improvement of Paging Scheme Using Paging Agent)

  • Due to limited radio resource, an effective paging strategy is essential for improving the utility of radio channels. In current mobile communication networks, when a mobile-terminated call occurs, the network locates the mobile by paging all cells within the location area simultaneously. In this study, we introduces paging strategies that can page some cells or only one cell within the location area to reduce paging cost on radio channels using paging agents. We propose another new paging strategy that can page only one cell within the location area and may have better performance. We also compare the performance of our proposed paging strategy with the performance of the current simultaneous paging strategy and some new paging strategies using paging agents. This paper suggests the most effective paging strategy using mathematical models. The result of this research will be used to select a proper paging strategy in the mobile communication networks.

  • RSSI기반의 실내위치인식 시스템과 무선센서네트워크를 이용한 자율 이동 로봇의 기능 중에서 선행적으로 요구되는 지능형 실내위치추정 로봇을 설계, 구현하였다. 지능형 실내위치추정 로봇은 주제어장치로서 Spartan III를 사용하였으며, 현재의 위치 데이터는 계속적으로 Zigbee /IEEE802.15.4 무선통신을 사용하여 블라인드노드로 전송된다. 그리고 로봇에 탑재된 베이스스테이션노드는 블라인드 노드를 통해 수신된 위치 데이터를 수집하여 로봇을 제어하였고 서버로 전송하였다. 이동 중인 로봇은 Magnetic Compass를 사용하여 목적지의 방향을 인식하여 최종 목적지로 이동하였다. 또한 프로그램 내에 장애물회피 알고리즘을 이용하여 효율적이고 능동적으로 목적지에 도달하였다. 로봇에 부착된 베이스스테이션노드를 아용하여 서버프로그램에서 환경 데이터와 위치를 실시간으로 모니터링 할 수 있었으며, 서버프로그램에서의 능동적인 로봇제어가 가능하였다.

  • In the Reporting Cell Location Management (RCLM) system, a subset of cells in the network is designated as the reporting cells. Each mobile terminal performs location update only when it enters one of these reporting cells. When a call arrives, the paging is confined to the reporting cell the user last reported and the neighboring bounded non-reporting cells. Frequent location update may result in degradation of quality of service due to interference. Miss on the location of a mobile terminal will necessitate a search operation on the network when a call comes in. We must decide the number of reporting cells and which cell should be reporting cell to balance the registration (location update) and search (paging) operations to minimize the cost of RCLM system. This paper proposes a simulated annealing (SA) for optimization of RCLM system.

  • The location of mobile terminals in cellular networks is an important problem in the field of information technology with applications in resource allocation, location sensitive browsing, and emergency communications. Finding location estimation techniques that are robust to non-line of light (NLOS) propagation is a key problem in this area. Time of arrival (TOA) and pattern matching (PM) measurements can be made simultaneously by CDMA cellular networks at low cost. The different sources of errors for each measurement type cause TOA and PM measurements to contain independent information about mobile station (MS) locations. This paper combines the information of PM and TOA measurements to calculate a superior location estimate. The proposed location estimator is robust, provides lower error than the estimators based on the individual measurements, and has low implementation costs.

  • In this study, we propose an improved group location tracking scheme (GLS) called integrated GLS (IGLS) which, in addition to the group location registration of the GLS, sends an integrated group registration message to a virtual visitor location register (VVLR) instead of sending an individual group registration message. This integrated procedure of proposed scheme leads registration cost of group registration and group location registration to be reduced significantly. Numerical results demonstrate that our proposed IGLS outperforms conventional GLS and delayed GLS (dGLS). The IGLS can be applied effectively on public transportation systems such as subway, train and bus.

  • This paper proposes a realtime tracking algorithm of mobile object in indoor or outdoor environment. For this purpose the proposed system selects location data closer to mobile objects in real time using Triangulation method and DCM (Database Correlation Method). Also, this system utilizes the adjusted location data selected by using Kalman filter to improve the location accuracy of transfer object. Be studied in existing the Kalman filter have unstable location data until its settlement because of it extracts current values by using the past the information. However, proposed location tracking system don't apply existent Kalman filter to this system and it permits precisional tracking location by using more effective methods.

  • 이동 통신 시스템의 설계에 있어서 기지국의 위치를 선정하는 문제는 기본적으로 셀 내부 및 외부의 간접전파에 의한 최소 SIR을 만족하면서 최대한의 사용자를 최소의 기지국에 할당하는 문제로서 NP-hard 이다. 기존에 주로 사용된 목적함수는 창고위치문제에서 사용하던 것으로 CDMA 이동통신 시스템으로 직접 이용하는 단계에서 문제점이 발생한다. 그 문제점들을 해결하는 목적함수와 최적해 및 근사해를 구하는 알고리즘을 제안하고, 그에 따른 시뮬레이션을 하여 본 논문의 제안이 타당성이 있는지 평가 및 분석하였다. 본 논문에서는 기지국의 위치문제를 경험적 탐색방법을 사용하지 않고 혼합정수계획법의 완전해를 이용하여 최적해 및 근사해를 구하였다.

A Step towards User Privacy while Using Location-Based Services

  • Nowadays mobile users are using a popular service called Location-Based Services (LBS). LBS is very helpful for a mobile user in finding various Point of Interests (POIs) in their vicinity. To get these services, users must provide their personal information, such as user identity or current location, which severely risks the location privacy of the user. Many researchers are developing schemes that enable a user to use these LBS services anonymously, but these approaches have some limitations (i.e., either the privacy prevention mechanism is weak or the cost of the solution is too much). As such, we are presenting a robust scheme for mobile users that allows them to use LBS anonymously. Our scheme involves a client side application that interacts with an untrusted LBS server to find the nearest POI for a service required by a user. The scheme is not only efficient in its approach, but is also very practical with respect to the computations that are done on a client's resource constrained device. With our scheme, not only can a client anonymously use LBS without any use of a trusted third party, but also a server's database is completely secure from the client. We performed experiments by developing and testing an Android-based client side smartphone application to support our argument.
