Effect of SiC Dispersion of $\beta$-Sialon Prepared from Wando Pyrophylite (완도납석으로부터 제조한 $\beta$-Sialon에 대한 SiC의 복합화 효과)

  • $\beta$-Sialon powder was prepared by the reduction-nitridation reaction from the mixture of Wando Pyrophyllite and carbon black at 135$0^{\circ}C$ in $N_2$ atmosphere. $\beta$-SiC powder was added to the prepared $\beta$-Sialon powder to make $\beta$-Sialon-SiC composite. The $\beta$-Sialon-SiC composites were sintered pressurelessly at 175$0^{\circ}C$ for 2h, using $Y_2O_3$ and $ZrO_2$(monoclinic) as sintering aids. Comparatively higher values of the fracture toughness (3.8 MN/㎥/2), M.O.R. (470 MN/$m^2$) and vickers microhardness (13.7 MN/$m^2$) were obtained when 10 wt% $Y_2O_3$ was added as a sintering aid. The improved fracture toughness and M.O.R. are assumed to be the results of crack deflection and crack branching by the second phase SiC particles.

Dielectric Properties of Zr-doped (Ba,Sr,Ca)TiO3 Thick Films for Microwave Phase Shifters

  • (Ba,Sr,Ca)TiO$_3$ powders, prepared by the sol-gel method, were mixed with organic binder and the BSCT thick films were fabricated by the screen printing techniques on alumina substrates. All the BSCT thick films, sintered at 1420$^{\circ}C$, showed the typical XRD patterns of a perovskite polycrystalline structure. The average grain sizes decreased with increasing amounts of ZrO$_2$, and the BSCT(40/40/20) thick films doped with 2wt% MnO$_2$ showed a value of 8$\mu\textrm{m}$. The thickness of thick films by four-cycle on printing/drying was approximately 951$\mu\textrm{m}$. The relative dielectric constant decreased with increasing Ca content and MnO$_2$ doping amount. The relative dielectric constant, dielectric loss and tunability of the BSCT(50/40/10) thick films doped with 2.0wt% ZrO$_2$ were 772, 0.184% and 15.62%, respectively.

  • In this study, in order to improve the electrical properties of low temperature sintering piezoelectric ceramics, $[0.05Pb(Zn_{1/2}W_{1/2})-0.07Pb(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})-0.088Pb(Zr_{0.48}Ti_{0.52})]O_3$(abbreviated as PZW-PMN-PZT) ceramic systems were fabricated using $Bi_2O_3$, CuO and $Li_2CO_3$ as sintering aids and then their piezoelectric and dielectric properties were investigated according to the amount of $Li_2CO_3$ and post-annealing process. Post-annealing process enhanced all physical properties except for mechanical quality factor (Qm). 0.2 wt% $Li_2CO_3$ added and post-annealed specimen showed the excellent values suitable for low loss piezoelectric actuator application as follow: the density = 7.86 $g/cm^3$ electromechanical coupling factor (kp) = 0.575, piezoelectric constant $d_{33}$ = 370 pC/N, dielectric constant ($\varepsilon_r$) = 1546, and mechanical quality factor (Qm) = 1161, respectively.

  • 본 연구에서는 (1-x) Pb(Zr0.515Ti0.485)$O_3$ - x Pb$(Sb_{1/2}Nb_{1/2})O_3$ + 0.5wt% $MnO_2$ 조성에 Pb$(Sb_{1/2}Nb_{1/2})O_3$ (PSN) (x=0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08) 변화에 따른 미세구조 및 압전, 유전특성에 관해 고찰하였다. PSN 치환량이 증가함에 따라 정방정 (tetragonal)구조에서 삼방정(rhombohedral)구조로 상전이가 일어났으며, 결정립의 크기가 작아지는 것을 확인하였다. 전기기계결합계수 (kp) 는 PSN이 4 mol % 치환됨에 따라 증가하였으며, 더 이상 치환 시 감소하였다. PSN 치환에 따른 전기적 특성은, 결정구조, 결정립의 크기 및 2 차상 등의 미세구조와 긴밀한 관계가 있는 것으로 보여진다. 상경계(Morphotropic Phase Boundary) 영역인 0.96 Pb(Zr0.515Ti0.485)$O_3$ - 0.04 Pb$(Sb_{1/2}Nb_{1/2})O_3$ + 0.5wt% $MnO_2$ 조성에서 $\varepsilon{^T}_{33}/\varepsilon_o$ = 1109, $k_p$= 70.8 (%), $d_{33}$= 325 (pC/N)의 우수한 특성을 나타내었다.

  • [ $MnO_2$ ]가 첨가된 $0.9Pb(Zr_{0.5}Ti_{0.5})O_3-0.2Pb[(Zn_{0.8}Ni_{0.2})_{1/3}Nb_{2/3}]O_3$(0.8PZT-0.2PZNN) 세라믹스는 그 압전특성과 유전특성이 뛰어나지만 $1000^{\circ}C$ 이하의 낮은 소결 온도에서는 소결되지 않는다. $1000^{\circ}C$이하의 낮은 소결온도에서 소결하기 위해 CuO를 첨가한 결과, 소결온도 $920^{\circ}C$에서 소결성은 우수하였으나 그 압전 특성의 저하가 두드러졌다. 이는 XRD에서 확인한 결과에 따르면 CuO의 첨가가 우수한 MPB 조성으로 판명된 $MnO_2$ 가 첨가된 0.8PZT-0.2PZNN 세라믹스의 결정구조를 Rhombohedral 구조로 바꾸기 때문인 것으로 보였으며 이러한 문제는 PZNN의 비율을 조절하여 0.875PZT-0.125PZNN 세라믹스를 선택함으로 인해 해결할 수 있었다. 그러나 여전히 낮은 $Q_m$값을 높이기 위해서 $Al_2O_3$를 첨가하였고 그 결과 시편의 tetragonality 감소와 $Q_m$값의 증가를 확인할 수 있었으나 그 첨가량이 0.2wt% 이상일 경우에는 밀도의 감소로 인한 압전특성의 저하가 나타났다. 밀도의 향상을 위해 Zn and Ni excess 조성을 선택하였고 그 결과 0.5wt% $MnO_2$와 0.2wt% CuO 그리고 0.3wt% $Al_2O_3$를 첨가한 0.875PZT-0.125PZNN 세라믹스(Zn and Ni excess 조성)를 $920^{\circ}C$에서 소결한 경우 $k_p=0.581,\;Q_m=809,\;d_{33}=345\;pC/N\;and\;{\varepsilon}_{33}/{\varepsilon}_0=1345$의 빼어난 압전 및 유전특성과 $330^{\circ}C$의 높은 $T_c$를 보였고 그 조성의 vibration velocity는 약4.5 m/s로 나타났다.

  • Dielectric and Piezoelectric properties of complex perovskite 0.92Pb($Zr_{1/2}Ti_{1/2})O_{3}-(0.08-x)Pb(Cu_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_{3}-xPb(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_{3}(0{\leq}x{\leq}0.080$) (PZT-PCN-PMN) system were investigated as a function of PMN content. With the increase of PMN content of the sintered specimens, tetragonal phase was coexisted with rhombohedral phase, the dielectric constant was decreased, mechanical quality factor ($Q_{m}$) was inceased, and optimal sintering temperature was increased up to 1050$^{\circ}C$. For the composition of x = 0.064 sintered at 1050$^{\circ}C$ for 2 h, 1939 of maximum mechanical quality factor ($Q_{m}$), 57$\%$ of electromechanical coupling factor ($k_{p}$), and 1100$^{\circ}C$ of dielectric constant, 0.37$\% $ of dielectric loss (tan $\delta$) were obtained.

  • Gd1-xSrxMnO3(0$\leq$X$\leq$0.6) as the cathode for solid oxide fuel cell was synthesized by citrate process and studied for its crystal structure, electrical conductivity, thermal expansion coefficient (TEC), and investigated reactivity with 8 mol% yttria stabilized zirconia(8YSZ) or Ce0.8Gd0.2O1.9 (CGO). The crystal structure of Gd1-xSrxMnO3 changed from orthorhombic (0$\leq$X$\leq$0.3) through cubic (0.4$\leq$X$\leq$0.5) to tetragonal structure (X=0.6). When Sr contents was increased, the electrical conductivity of Gd1-xSrxMnO3 was inthose of La1-xSrxMnO3, 8YSZ and CGO if Sr content was above 30mol%. TEC of Gd1-xSrxMnO3 was increased with Sr content. After heat treatment at 1300$^{\circ}C$ for 48 hours, reaction product of Gd1-xSrxMnO3 and 8YSZ was SrZrO3. However CGO had no reaction product with Gd1-xSrxMnO3.

  • Dieletric ailed piezoelectric properties of Pb[$Zr_{0.45}$/ $Ti_{0.5-x}$/L $u_{x}$ (M $n_{1}$3//S $b_{2}$3)$_{0.05}$] $O_3$(0$\leq$x $\leq$0.03) were investigated. The partial substitution of $Ti^{4+}$ by a L $u^{3+}$ permitted improvement of the piezoelectric constant( $d_{33}$ ), electromechanical coupling factor ( $k_{p}$ ) and dielectric constant($\varepsilon$$_{33}$ /Sup T/). The dielectric loss(tan $\delta$ ) increased and mechanical quality factor(Qm) decreased with an increase of x were observed. A new piezoelectric material for actuator application was developed at x=0.02 with $d_{33}$ =370$\times$10$^{-2}$ /C/N, $k_{p}$ =58.5%, $\varepsilon$$_{33}$ $^{T}$ =1321, $Q_{m}$ =714 and tan $\delta$ =0.98%.%..%.%.

  • In this study, electrical properties and TCFr of Pb(Sb$_{1}$2/Nb$_{1}$2/)O$_3$-Pb(Mn $_{1}$3/Nb$_{2}$3/)O$_3$-Pb(zr, Ti)O$_3$ composition ceramics were investigated wish the Zr/Ti ratio and the additions of Y2O3. and Fe$_2$O$_3$ Electromechanical coupling factor(Kp) showed the highest value of 0.555 in the Zr/Ti=0.50/0.50 ratio ,however, dielectric constant showed the highest value of 1,217 in the Zr/Ti = 0.49/0.51 ratio. Excellent TCFr vague of 421ppm/$^{\circ}C$] at-30~9O$^{\circ}C$ was appeared in the Zr/Ti=0.50/0.50 ratio and electro-mechanical coupling factor(Kp) , mechanical quility factor(Qm) and dielectric constant was 0.496, 1,286 and 1,085 ,respectively ,in the composition ceramics of lwt%Y$_2$O$_3$ and 0.3wt%Fe$_2$O$_3$.
