This study was carried out to investigate the effect of red ginseng water extract (RGWE) on trypsin activity. After extraction of fat soluble and saponin component from red ginseng powder by methyl alcohol, the residue was extracted with distilled water, and manufactured to water extract. The extract was dialyzed with different molecular cut off membrane. Trypsin activity demonstrated the highest level at the RGWE concentration of 9${\times}$10$\^$-2/% in reaction mixture, and also increased to 15% at 2.9${\times}$10$\^$-3/%. Km value was decreased and Vmax was increased in the present of red ginseng water extract. Red ginseng water extract was partially purified by dialysis, Bio-Gel P-I0 and DEAE-cellulose column chromatography. The active fraction demonstrated positive reaction to ninhydrin, DNS and folin reaction.
2kg of the dried leaves of Thuja orientalis Linnaeus were ground, extracted with acetone-$H_2O$(7:3, v/v), concentrated, and fractionated with a series of hexane, $CH_2C1_2$ EtOAc and water on a separators funnel. Each fraction was freeze dried to give dark-brown powder and a EtOAc soluble portion. of the powder was chromatographed on a Sephadex LH-20 column using a series of aqueous methanol and ethanol-hexane mixture as eluents. Spectrometric analyses such as NMR and FAB-MS including TLC were performed to characterize the structures of isolated compounds. The leave of Thuja orientalis Linnaeus contained a large amount of flavononol derivatives such as quercetin-3-O-$\alpha$-L-rhamnopyranoside and myricetin-3-O-$\alpha$-L-rhamnopyranoside in addition to a small amount of flavan compounds such as (+)-catechin and (+)-gallocatechin. The antioxidative activities of each fractions and isolated compounds were done by DPPH radical scavenging test, and all of them were indicated strong antioxidative activities.

Direct tensile response of strain hardening cement composites(SHCC) depends primarily on the material's tensile response, which is a water cement ratio, direct function of fiber and matrix characteristics, the bond between them, and the fiber volume fraction. This paper discusses effect of aspect ratio of the direct tensile response of SHCC with PET and PVA fibers. The main variables considered include the aspect ratio of PET fibers(Aspect ratio, ${\ell}/d_f$ : 150, 300, 600). For the same mixture proportion, PET1.5+PVA0.5-300 and PET1.5+PVA 0.5-600(Aspect ratio 300, 600) showed better overall behavior(Pseudo strain-hardening, Multiple cracking) than specimens with PET1.5+PVA0.5-150(Aspect ratio 150). Tensile strain of PET1.5+PVA0.5-300 and PET1.5+PVA 0.5-600 at ultimate tensile stress were 0.5, 2.0% respectively.

As a basic study to find bioactive principles for the hypolipidemic effect from natural sources, various biological influences of MeOH extracts of Thuja accidentalis L. and Juniperus chinensis var. horizontalis Nakai on rats were examined. The concentrates obtained from the organic layer and aqueous layer fractions of each species were orally administered to rats and then their effect on the body weight, organ weight, serum lipids profile, and blood glucose concentration were examined. Among the samples tested, the organic layer of Juniperus chinensis var. horizontalis exhibited the possibility of the hypolipidemic effects. The corresponding layer was chromatographed to give three fractions and reexamined their effects on rats. The results demonstrated that the fraction corresponding for the R$_{f}$ 0.4~0.7 which was the mixture of many minor components showed the effect of lowering the blood-lipid bevel effectively without any side effects. Besides, communic acid, identified from and isolated as a major component of the species exhibited the possibe hypolipidemic effects.s.
micellar solution which is comprised of surfactant monomers, monodisperse micelles, and solvent(water) is studied from a statistical-mechanical point of view. The model examined in this article is for the ideal mixture of monomers, micelles, and solvent with the dielectric constant identical to that of solvent, which is an assumption common to continuum models. The model also reflects interactions between monomer and solvent molecule, and also between micelle and solvent molecule. The statistical-mechanical model under consideration yields ln $X_{CMC}=A+BT+C/T+D{\ln}T$ with $X_{CMC}$ being critical mcielle concentration (in mole fraction), being temperature, and A, B, C, D being constants which depend on the properties of the surfactant molecules. The statistical-mechanical model discussed in this article provides a theoretical basis on the thermal dependence of critical micelle concentration

Autoignited lifted flames in laminar jets with hydrogen-enriched methane fuels have been investigated experimentally in heated coflow air. The results showed that the autoignited lifted flame of the methane/hydrogen mixture, which had an initial temperature over 920 K, the threshold temperature for autoignition in methane jets, exhibited features typical of either a tribrachial edge or mild combustion depending on fuel mole fraction and the liftoff height increased with jet velocity. The liftoff height in the hydrogen-assisted autoignition regime was dependent on the square of the adiabatic ignition delay time for the addition of small amounts of hydrogen, as was the case for pure methane jets. When the initial temperature was below 920 K, where the methane fuel did not show autoignition behavior, the flame was autoignited by the addition of hydrogen, which is an ignition improver. The liftoff height demonstrated a unique feature in that it decreased nonlinearly as the jet velocity increased. The differential diffusion of hydrogen is expected to play a crucial role in the decrease in the liftoff height with increasing jet velocity.
Steam reforming of methane in the high temperature solar chemical reactor bas advantage in its heating method. Using concentrated solar energy as a heating source of the reforming reaction can reduce the $CO_2$ emission by 20% compared to hydrocarbon fuel. In this paper, the simulation result of methane-steam reforming on a high temperature solar chemical reactor(SCR) using Fluent 6.3.26 is presented. The high temperature SCR is designed for the Inha Dish-1, a Dish type solar concentrator installed in Songdo city. Basic SCR performance factors are referred to the former researches of the same laboratory. Inside the SCR porous metal is used for a receiver/reactor. The porous metal is carved like a dome shape on the incident side to increase the heat transfer. Also, ring-disc set of baffle is inserted in the porous metal region to increase the path length. Numerical and physical models are also used from the former researches. Methane and steam is mixed with the same mole fraction and injected into the SCR. The simulation is performed for a various inlet mass flow rate of the methane-steam mixture gas. The result shows that the average reactor temperature and the conversion rate change appreciably by the inlet mass flow rate of 0.0005 kg/s.
In this study, a high energy ball milling process was employed in order to improve the densification of direct nitrided AlN powder. The densification behavior and the sintered microstructure of the milled AlN powder were investigated. Mixture of AlN powder doped with 5 wt.% $Y_2O_3$ as a sintering additive was pulverized and dispersed up to 50 min in a bead mill with very small $ZrO_2$ beads. Ultrafine AlN powder with a particle size of 600 nm and a specific surface area of 9.54 $m^2/g$ was prepared after milling for 50 min. The milled powders were pressureless-sintered at $1700^{\circ}C-1800^{\circ}C$ for 4 h under $N_2$ atmosphere. This powder showed excellent sinterability leading to full densification after sintering at $1700^{\circ}C$ for 4 h. However, the sintered microstructure revealed that the fraction of yitttium aluminate increased with milling time and sintering temperature and the newly-secondary phase of ZrN was observed due to the reaction of AlN with the $ZrO_2$ impurity.

The purpose of this study is to verify the performance of a static mixer for mixing of biogas and town gas by numerical analysis and demonstration test. The reason for designing a static mixer is that there is a need to mix town gas with biogas when there is less production of biogas in biogas sites. Non-uniformity in the outlet section was calculated for investigating the performance of a static mixer. Non-uniformity was based on the mole fraction of methane in a mixture of biogas and town gas. Low non-uniformity means that biogas and town gas are mixed well through this static mixer. Also, pressure drop at the outlet section of a static mixer was calculated. The pressure drop is less than 0.2% in this static mixer. This static mixer is suitable for applying to a 5MW bio-gas turbine through the demonstration test in the field.

To evaluate the heat removal capability of a condenser tube in the PCCS of an advanced nuclear power plant, a steam condensation experiment in the presence of noncondensable gas on a vertical tube is performed. The average heat transfer coefficient is measured on a vertical tube of 40 mm in O.D. and 1.0 m in length. The experiments covers the pressures of 2-4 bar, and the mass fraction of air ranges from 0.1 up to 0.7. From the experimental results, the effects of the total pressure and the concentration of air on the condensation heat transfer coefficient are investigated. The measured data are compared with the predictions by Uchida's and Tagami's correlations, and it is revealed that these models underestimate the condensation heat transfer coefficient of the steam-air mixture.
