Microwave was designed for lipid extraction from green algae (Spirulina platensis). Microalgae-solvent (various solvents) were extracted and heated using microwave at 600 W for around 40 min. The maximum yield obtained within this period was 12.530% of lipid compared to just 1.293% for Soxhlet extraction. Lipid analysis revealed that those with higher essential fatty acid content consist of saturated fatty acid (SAFA) and polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) which could be used for biodiesel production.

Silybin is the main component of Cardus marianus extracts (Silymarin) originated from Silybum marianum, called as milk thistle. It has a hepato-protective effect and is used clinically for the treatment of liver disease. But it is water-insoluble and is poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, resulting in very low oral bioavailability. Polymeric mixed-micelle precursor formulation containing surfactants, co-solvents, and block-co polymers with Cardus marianus extracts was made to enhance the dissolution rate of silybin and encapsulated with soft gelatin capsule. Various studies for QLEDs using inkjet printing has been actively conducted. Multilayers in QLEDs need an orthogonal process inevitably using different solvents and it makes the inkjet printing process more difficult and expensive. Therefore, coating two layers in a single process can reduce the fabrication step, resulting in the process time. In this study, we fabricated QLEDs of standard structure using a mixture of emission layer and hole transport layer. The mixed layer was fabricated by dissolving TFB and QDs in chlorobenzene, and the maximum luminance of the device was 45,850 cd/m2. It shows the bright future of the electroluminescence devices applied with inkjet printing process.
Highly conducting Polypyrroles soluble in organic solvents were synthesized using functional doping agents, such as mixed dopants [sodium di(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate (DEHSNa) Naphthalenesulfonic acid (NSA), DEHSNa Toluenesulfonic acid (TSA), DEHSNa Dodecylbenzensulfonic acid (DBSA)] and mixed oxidants [$(NH_4)_2S_2O_8{\cdot}FeCl_3$, $(NH_4)_2S_2O_8{\cdot}Fe_2(SO_4)_3$]. Ppy-DEHS powder using an oxidant, such as $(NH_4)_2S_2O_8$ (10 wt%/vol.) showed higher solubility than the mixed dopant (DEHSNa NSA, 3 wt%/vol.) and mixed oxidant [$(NH_4)_2S_2O_8{\cdot}Fe_2(SO_4)_3$, 4 wt%/vol.] in DMF solvent. But Ppy-DEHS free standing film using a mixed dopant, such as DEHSNa NSA (16 S/cm) and a mixed oxidant, such as $(NH_4)_2S_2O_8{\cdot}Fe_2(SO_4)_3$ (13 S/cm) cast from DMF solvent showed higher electrical conductivity than $(NH_4)_2S_2O_8$ (2 S/cm). For the Ppy-DEHS films using various condition cast from DMF solvent, three dimensional various range hopping model (3D VRH ; $\{{\sigma}_{dc}(T)={\sigma}_oexp[-(T_o/T)^{1/4}]\}$) provided fit to the results of temperature dependence of electrical conductivity measurement.

Process conditions for the impregnation of polycarbosilane preceramic polymer into SiC-based composites were investigated. Two kinds of preceramic polymer (PCP) was impregnated into SiC-fiber fabrics with different solvents of n-hexane and divinylbenzene (DVB). Both microstructural observations and mechanical tests were conducted to evaluate the impregnation. The matrix phases were particulated in the case of hexane solvents. Apparent relative density of the matrix was about 78.8%. The density of matrix was increased to about 96.1-98.8% when the DVB was used; however, brittle fracture was observed during a bending test. The modulus of toughness was less than $0.74J/m^3$. The fabric impregnated with a mixed PCP-dissolved solution showed intermediate characteristics with relative high density of filling (apparent density of ~96.1%) as well as proper bending behavior. The modulus of toughness was increased to about $5.31J/m^3$. The composites developed by changing the precursor and solvent suggested the possibility of fabricating SiCf/SiC composites without a fiber to matrix interphase coating.

This study was performed to evaluate the working conditions In construction workers through measurements of working environments and to improve the working conditions and to design the appropriate environmental and health management system. The results of measurement for working environments in construction work are as following: 1. The excess rate of noise and dust concentration in express highway construction, road construction, building construction and interior painting was 28.6% and 24.5% respectively. 2. The excess rate of mixed organic solvents concentration in interior painting was 39.3%. 3. The chain type bulldozer has the highest level of vibration; the excess rate was 85.7%, and among the vibration instruments, the level of left hand's vibration of all vibrators exceeded the criterion and in the case of drilling all the level of vibration exceeded the criterion in both hands. On the basis of the results in this research the environmental and health management system for construction workers must be considered. Therefore, it is necessary to be introduced the special medical examination and measurement of working environments in construction industry. In defining "the working place" of Article 39 of Enforcement regulations of industrial safety and health act, the word "indoors" should be deleted. Then the eligible industry for measurement of working environment must be extended. And it is also necessary for construction industry to be performed group health management service by agencies such as other manufacturing industry.
Liquid-liquid equilibrium data for the quaternary system water +tetrahydrofuran + butyl acetate + isoamyl alcohol mixture were measured at 298.15 K and atmospheric pressure. Binodal curves, tie-lines, distribution, and selectivity for the quaternary system have been determined in order to investigate the effect of using binary solvents, butyl acetate and isoamyl alcohol, on extracting tetrahydrofuran from aqueous solution. In addition, these experimental tie-line data were also compared with the values predicted by the UNIFAC model. For the quaternary system, an average root-mean-square deviation for the system in 75/25, 50/50, and 25/75 mass ratios as mixed solvents are(3.35, 5.21 and 5.65) %, respectively.
Separation of fructose from glucose-fructose mixture was studied by utilizing the solubility differences of both sugars in the mixed solvents of water and alcohols with or without the presence of NaCl and $CaCl_2$. Better separation of fructose was obtained in ethanol-water solvent than other solvent-water systems. The addition of NaCl to the ethanol-water solvent system improved the separation factor based on the relative composition of two sugars in the supernatant by twice. The change in feed composition from 50-50 mixture of glucose and fructose resulted in a worse separation factor. It was found in the present studies that the best separation of fructose (fructose 75%, glucose 25%) was achieved when NaCl and ethanol was slowly added to the solution containing 20% water, 40% fructose and 40% glucose to make up the final solution with the parts of ethanol 36 ml, water 4 ml, glucose 8 gm, fructose 8 gm and NaCl 0.25gm.
This study was conducted to evaluate desorption efficiencies accuracy and precision by $CS_2$ and thermal desorption method for polar and non-polar organic solvents collected on activated carbon(AC), activated carbon fiber(ACF), carbosieve SIII, materials tested were Methyl alcohol, n-Hexane, Benzene, Trichloroethylene, Methyl isobutyl ketone and methyl cellosolve acetate and six different concentration levels of samples were made. The results were as follows ; 1. Accuracy on kind adsorbent and desorption method was low. In case of $CS_2$ desorption solvent, Overall B and Overall CV on AC and ACF were 43% and 6.63%, respectively. In case of thermal desorption method, accuracy of thermal desorption method appeared higher than solvent desorption method by AC 18.0%, 3.54%, ACF 2.6%, 2.57%, Carbosieve SIII 13.7% and 1.97%, respectively. 2. In the concentration level III, accuracy of thermal desorption method on adsorbent was in order as follow ; ACF > Carbosieve SIII > AC in the methyl alcohol and Carbosieve SIII > ACF > AC in the rest of them all subject material and Concentration levels showed good precision at EPA recommend standard (${\leq}{\;}30%$) 3. DEs by type of organic solvent adsorbent and desorption method are as follows ; In the case that desorption solvent is $CS_2$, DE of Methyl alcohol is AC 47.5%, DE of all materials is ACF about 50%. In the case of thermal desorption method, DE of Methyl alcohol is AC 82.0%, ACF 97.4%, Carbosieve SIII 86.3%. DE of the later case is prominently improved more than one of former. In particular, Except that DE of EGMEA is ACF 88.5%, DE of the rest of it is more than 95% which is recommend standard MDHS 72. With the result of this study, in order to measure various organic solvent occurring from the working environment, in the case of thermal desorption method, we can get the accurate exposure assessment, reduce the cost, and use ACF as thermal desorption sorbent which available with easy.

Hydroxypropyl chitin(HPCH) was prepared from chitin by reacting it with propylene oxide. The formation of liquid crystalline character of HPCH was investigated using halogenated organic solvents. Solid state $^{13}C$ NMR spectra for chitin and HPCH confirmed the incorporation of hydroxypropyl moiety. The degree of substitution of HPCH was around 0.8 as detected by elemental analysis. WAXD patterns of chitin and HPCH showed that an incorporation of hydroxypropyl unit in chitin contributed to reducing the crystallinity and enhancing the solubility in organic solvents. Polarized light microscopic pictures of concentrated HPCH solution showed that HPCH formed cholesteric liquid crystalline character at about 25w/v% solution in dichloroacetic acid and 1, 2-dichloroethane. Inherent viscosity of HPCH solution in a mixed solvent showed a transient decrease.
