  • As an optimal quality of the restorations, there should be a least amount of seating discrepancy between the casting and abutment teeth. However, high viscosity of the cementing medium and its resulting thickness may prevent complete seating of the restoration. The use of die spacing material provides adequate internal relief for the cementing medium. The purpose of this study is to compare the thickness of three commonly used die spacing materials. Materials and Methods: Stone plates were fabricated and divided into 12 sections to be painted with die spacers. Tru-Fit, Whip-Mix and Belle do St. Claire die spacer which are commonly used in dental practice were tested in this study. Each die spacers were painted layer by layer according to the manufacturer's recommendation. The average thickness of each die spacers were measured with light microscope(${\times}100$) and compared between them. Results and Conclusions. A silver-colored Tru-Fit die spacer has the lowest value of thickness without statistical significance comparing with a gold-colored Tru-Fit die spacer and a gray layer of Whip-Mix die spacer has the highest value of thickness without any statistical significance comparing with Belle de St. Claire die spacer. Three and four layers of Tru-Fit die spacer and two layers of Whip-Mix and Belle de St. Claire die spacers seem to be in the acceptable range of thickness of 25 to $45{\mu}m$ for optimal seating of the restorations. The standard experimental design and method should be fur thor evaluated for more consistent and objective results.

  • In this article, by using experimental studies and artificial neural network has been tried to investigate the use of nano-silica as concrete admixture to reduce alkali-silica reaction. If there are reactive aggregates and alkali of cement with enough moisture in concrete, a gel will be formed. Then with high reactivity between alkali of cement and existence of silica in aggregates, this gel will expand by absorption of water, and causes expansive pressure and cracks be formed. At the time passes, this gel will reduce both durability and strength of the concrete. By reducing the size of silicate to nano, specific surface area of particles and number of atoms on the surface will be increased, which causes more pozzolanic activity of them. Nano-silica can react with calcium hydroxide ($Ca(OH)_2$) and produces C-S-H gel. In this study, accelerated mortar bar specimens according to ASTM C 1260 and ASTM C 1567, with different mix proportions were prepared using aggregates of Kerman, such as: none admixture and plasticizer, different proportions of nano-silica separately. By opening the moulds after 24 hour and curing in water at $80^{\circ}C$ for 24 hour, then curing in (1N NaOH) at $80^{\circ}C$ for 14 days, length expansion of mortar bars were measured and compared. It was noted that, the lowest length expansion of a specimens shows the best proportion of admixture based on alkali-silica reactivity. Then, prediction of alkali-silica reaction of concrete has been investigated by using artificial neural network. In this study the backpropagation network has been used and compared with different algorithms to train network. Finally, the best amount of nano silica for adding to mix proportion, also the best algorithm and number of neurons in hidden layer of artificial neural network have been offered.

  • For the design of concrete structures in the serviceability limit state, the uniaxial static modulus of elasticity may be a most important parameter. In particular, this may be so just for a deflection control of the structure. Even in new concrete codes, however, the elastic modulus is normally presented on the form of general empirical relationships with the compressive strength and density of concrete. Normally, there is a large uncertainty associated with the general equations obtained by regression. Thus, in a typical plot of static modulus of elasticity vs. compressive strength, a large scatter can be observed at same strength. The aim of this study is to present the method for obtain the maximum modulus of elasticity at same compressive strength. In the present paper report the effects of mix ingredients on the modulus of elasticity of high-strength concrete. The test of 284 cylinder specimens arc conducted for type I with 11 % replacement of fly-ash cement concretes. Different water-hinder ratio, amounts of water and coarse aggregate as variables were investigated. And also analyzed it statistically by using SAS.

  • TOD(Transit Oriented Development) has recently been active, which presents that TOD planning elements should be comprehensively taken into consideration in order to enhance domestic transit ridership by changing environments in rail station areas and an empirical analysis on the type of rail station areas and transportation demand should be a prerequisite for usage of future development planning. This study aims to grasp a variety of TOD of influence factors in Seoul rail station area and to perform analysis to identify relationship between public transportation demand and these TOD design factors. To make it come true, we gathered data with respect to Density, Diversity, and Accessibility as representative TOD planning elements and carried out factorial and regression analysis. Consequently, we drew 7 influence factors base on factorial analysis: Factor 1(Diversity/ -Use Mix(LUM)), Factor 2(Density/development density), Factor 3(Accessibility/public transportation facility supply), Factor 4(Design/street design), Factor 5(Green/access mode (pedestrian, bike), Factor 6(Design/subway size), Factor 7(Accessibility/Public transit operation) As the result of model development by using factorial and regression analysis, positive influence factors on passenger flow in rail station area are Factor 1(Diversity : Land-Use Mix), Factor 3(Accessibility : public transportation facility supply), Factor 2(Density : development density), Factor 5(Design/ access mode) and Factor 6(subway size) Next, negative influence factor on passenger flow in rail station area shows Factor 7(Accessibility/Public transit operation) as the most influential factor. This is because the growth of service interval of linked subway and bus leads to reduced demand.

  • This study introduces mass-customization design development of bathroom sink that satisfies both the manufacturer's need for productivity increase and the consumer's need for individuality, which allows for expansibility based on numerous mixing and matching. The nature of the product brings the balance between functional aspects and emotional aspects as the focus of the concept. To maximize the efficiency of design development process, consumer behavior analysis was conducted to reveal the unspoken consumer needs, and the plan for mix and use of new materials came as a result of the trend analyses on overall living environment, bathroom and sink. In order to increase the expansibility based on consumers' individuality, modular design was utilized.

  • Tong-young LNG tank is a LNG storage tank of 140,000 kl, and it is composed of Bottom Slab(Annular, Center), Outer Wall, Ring Beam and Roof. Generally, when concrete temperature arise, the complex thermal stress of inner and outer part can cause serious thermal crack and damage at structure. So in this paper, for the control of this thermal crack, we did the concrete mix design with the base of fly-ash 30% substitute at binder, and through the computer modelling at Bottom Slab(Annular, Center), Outer Wall, Ring Beam and Roof, we studied the probability of thermal crack by thermal crack index.

  • High strength concrete(65MPa) was used for construction of the bulk cement storage silo by using sliding form. This paper presents mix design, production, quality control and experience with field application of high strength concrete under cold weather conditions. It is shown to be possible to produce high strength concrete of compressive strength of 50~60 MPa by using high-range water reducer to lower w/c ratio with appropriate quality control.

  • This study is a fundamental research for recycling waste vinyl in asphalt concrete mixture for roadway pavement. The mixing method and proper content of waste polyethylene(PE) film were determined through preliminary mix design. This study used 2-type aggregate gradations and two-type waste PE films. The mixtures were applied for a test pavement on a rural road. Quality evaluation of the asphalt concrete confirmed that waste vinyl asphalt concrete was applicable to road pavement.
