  • Social unrest from retaliatory crimes is increasingly becoming problematic. Recently, there was an accident involving a suspect who went to a hospital and committed acts of retaliatory violence 11 times. This person's reasoning was that he was imprisoned due to the hospital's reporting to the police. He was consequently arrested in Boeun Choongbook on December 27th 2014. Accidents like this one take place frequently around our surroundings. There are regulations and systems in place. Nevertheless, similar cases that continue to take place makes us wonder if criminal judicial systems work well. Lukewarm responses to retaliatory crimes is not only threatening social security, but also placing fears in the minds of ordinary citizens. If retaliatory crimes take place, most citizens become apprehensive about criminal judicial activities of the police and mistrust for criminal judicial system. This at times discourages people from reporting incidents and could eventually increase crime rate and cause various social problems. Even though there are legal and systemic control measures, retaliatory crime is an increasing trend. This study is going to examine tendencies of internal retaliatory crimes and discuss legal-systemical responses.

  • Blockchain technology prevents tampering of central authorities that manage voting process, enhancing trust in the vote results. This technology enables citizens to participate more directly in the areas where delegation was inevitable due to the difficulties in polling fair and trustworthy public opinions. There are many projects around the world proposing to implement voting system for public decision making using blockchain technology. The blockchain voting system is expected to work as a transparent and fair channel for polling public opinions, which will transform the public decision-making process and governance. Korean National Pension Service (NPS) recently introduced stewardship code to better represent the interest of beneficiaries. However, because of the mistrust in governance of NPS, introduction of stewardship code is facing criticism for potential misuse of their voting rights against the interest of beneficiaries and for government's interference with corporate management. This study proposes a voting system applying blockchain technology for polling the opinions of National Pension Fund's beneficiaries to support public decision-making, and discusses social and institutional conditions for implementation of the proposed system.

The results are as follows. First, it was observed that teachers are of the opinion that it is difficult to determine the science gifted students by observation due to their lack of expertise in giftedness and gifted education, the lack of a check list to use, and the difficulty of ensuring the objectivity of the results of the determination. Second, the absence of objective screening tools used for the selection, the selection of gifted students based on their subjective judgment, and the possibility to select students based only on visible manifestations of ability may cause parents to mistrust the system. Thus, institutional support is required to address the concerns of teachers and parents. Lastly, while these things are occurring, the process of observation and nomination of by teachers, which is the basis of pooling gifted students at the level of Busan Metropolitan School District, should be continued.

A total of 247 subjects between 17 and 27 years of age were selected through random sampling. Data were collected using a self-reported questionnaire from November 1, 2012 to March 30, 2013. The depression acceptance differed significantly according to rank between siblings, religion, school record, socioeconomic status, cohabitation, and stress resolving methods. There was a positive correlation between depression and the appearance satisfaction and the trends of personal relationship. 26.8% variance in depression was explained by the appearance, socioeconomic status, sympathy-acceptance, resistance-mistrust, body figure, and cohabitation. These findings may be useful for understanding depression in nursing college students and developing more specific personal interrelationship and depression programs.

  • The Health care program in Korea has now been systemized after 30 years of declaring the inauguration of the national health insurance system by the current government. The national health care covering all Korean citizens was achieved after 12 years of implementing the national health insurance and the health care program since 1977. Hundreds of multiple operational agencies managing the insured individually had undergone the amalgamation process from 1998 to 2000, and had been restructured as one agency, the National Health Insurance Corporation. In 2003, the community/area based financial management was also merged together with the employment based financial management. The National health care system of Korea offer various merits, compared with that of other countries, such as health care provision covering all Koreans, low insurance premium, accessibility of medical services/facilities etc. However, there are still some weak features which need to be addressed for improvement; below expectation insurance cover system, mistrust on the medical services, low medical charges resulted from excessive restrictions, and unstable financial status of the national health insurance etc. Therefore, the National health care system should continue to evolve to re-establish itself as more effective national health care system by further strengthening its merits, and by improving its weaknesses; with adopting the positive system to optimize the costs of prescribed medicines/drugs, applying simpler insurance coverage system to calculate the optimum medical charges, promoting private medical insurances, and increasing insurance premium etc.

The authors conducted four semi-structured focus groups and individual interviews with 19 adults with type 1 and 2 diabetes, focusing on the personal experiences and thoughts regarding insulin therapy. Patients' perspectives and experiences relating to taking insulin formed three categories of themes: preoccupations about insulin, barriers to taking insulin, and benefits to taking insulin. The theme for preoccupations about insulin was "vague fear," while the theme of barriers to taking insulin were "worrisome insulin-related issues", "ambivalent feelings (trust/mistrust) about healthcare providers," "dependent life," "feeling about supporters(family, friends, and religion)," "inconvenience," "regret about the past," and "embarrassment." The theme of benefits to taking insulin were "recognition" and "physical recovery and confidence in regulating blood glucose". Based on this study, patients' feelings about their insulin should be respected by healthcare providers.

  • The characters' voices in the movie, Rashomon mean the absence of memories created by self-consciousness in order to avoid the crisis. The varying statements of the characters and the three spaces: the space of Nakanimon (th e ruins), the representation space as polyphony (the forest), the egoistic space of truth (the guardian), show the social ills of doubtfulness and mistrust among the Japanese at that time due to the defeat from the war. This matches with the polyphony theory of Mr. Bakhtin, a Russian cultural critic. The key concept of polyphony theory is that the voices that do not accord each other are not harmonized but each voice builds their own world and participates in the novel without being influenced by the creator. This study's aim is to discuss two aspects; Bakhtin's polypony theory allows polyphony film s to function as cinematic composition and spatial characteristics of polyphony films in the movie, Rashomon.
