  • In this paper, we investigate the time-sampling effects on the digital implementation of singular perturbation based STT autopilot with excellent performance and propose a compensation method for the time-sampling effects. In digitization of analog STT autopilot, it is found that the stability margin of the fast dynamics is mostly affected to lead to rapid decrease. Under the this analysis, a composite digital controller with additional compensator for fast dynamics is proposed to improve the time-sampling effect and a simulation verifies the result.

  • Currently, Storage Reliability is analyzed when predicting the reliability of guided missile. However, Mission Reliability and Logistics Reliability should be analyzed according to the definition of reliability in MIL-STD-785B. Therefore, it is necessary to accurately predict the reliability of guided missile based on the definition of reliability. In this paper, we proposed improved the reliability procedure and model for guided missile based on which the definition of reliability considering the mission profile. The proposed model can calculate the final failure rate by applying the ratio of the dormant and storage according to the mission profile. The proposed model has been confirmed to be more accurate than the existing model compared to the actual failure rate value. The results of this study can be useful for applying the reliability prediction to any guided missile.

  • The ballistic missile is very threatening weapon system because it is difficult to detect and intercept due to fast speed. Recently, many countries worry about North Korea's ballistic missile launching tests especially the success of launching Kwangmyongsong-3 satellite by Eunha-3 long range rocket at 2012. This event means announcement of North Korea have capability to develop ICBM(Intercontinental Ballistic Missile) to all over the world. In this paper, it is surveyed and described that history, types and threat of ballistic missiles.

  • The acceleration and the angular velocity that include natural frequencies of a missile detected by Inertial Measurement Unit(IMU) are transmitted to the control loop of a missile. The control loop command that is calculated using above signals can cause the resonance of the missile while it flies. Hence it is common to adapt the filter and the control loop for attenuating or eliminating the undesired signals such as natural frequencies. This paper introduces the new test technique using a floating system for performance evaluation of the designed filter and the control loop prior to a flight test. The proposed scheme can check out the degradation property of vibration in the filter and the control loop, while the conventional hardware-in-the-loop simulation(HILS) scheme cannot.

  • Since the first Aegis Cruiser USS Ticonderoga was constructed, Arleigh Burke class destroyers are being mass constructed as U.S. Naval capital surface ships and consistently improved the performance. In recent years, the newest aegis combat system, Baseline 9, was deployed. Aegis BMD, aegis ships which have BMD capability, is participated BMDS(Ballistic Missile Defense System) as a sea based BMD. And AN/SPY-1D will be replaced by AMDR(Air & Missile Defense Radar), advanced anti-air radar system to defend effectively against increased ballistic missiles threat from DDG-51 Flight III. In this paper, development status and technical characteristics of each type of aegis ships are researched and characteristics of AMDR are surveyed and described.

  • In the recent defence industries, it is required to develop the small and low cost embedded systems for guided missiles. According to the characteristics of guided missiles, the mission is conducted with multiple phases, which include a squib activation phase. By considering the unexpected squib activation, the squib system should be disabled after the launch of a guided missile. Therefore, the squib system needs to include the functions of the safe ignition and status check. This paper presents the squib ignition and status check circuits design for the compact embedded systems in guided missiles. Validation results show that for the functions of the squib ignition and status check, the presented circuits design performs well. The designed circuits also were implemented with various electronic devices and validated by the ground and flight tests.

  • 6-DOF flight simulation program is most generally used M&S tool in domestic missile development procedure. The 6-DOF M&S method, however, cannot validate the performance of a imaging seeker-adopted missile in various conditions. A M&S tool for the analysis of the integrated-flight simulation is required since the tracking performance of the imaging seeker is highly dependent on the missile maneuvering, which introduces the displacement and rotation of the target in the seeker imagery. Through the development of the $3^{rd}$ generation anti-tank missile, Raybolt, the integrated-flight M&S tool was developed and applied to the missile configuration design. It integrates synthetic image generation S/W, imaging tracker, and flight simulation program and computes the main system performance criteria, hit probability by Monte-Carlo Simulation. In this paper, the issues in the $3^{rd}$ generation anti-tank missile configuration and the integrated-flight M&S method and results are described.

  • Fighter jets employ guided missiles equipped with seekers to counter enemy air threats. Short range guided missiles(SRM) usually carry infrared(IR) seekers and are used to engage targets within visual range. On the other hand, medium range guided missiles(MRM) often utilize radio frequency(RF) seekers to engage targets beyond visual range. Medium range guided missiles do not activate their seekers until they reach the detection range of the seeker, and the aircraft's radar guides them for a certain distance. This guidance method is called Missile Data Link(MDL), and it can be implemented in either one-way or two-way communication modes, depending on the missile's communication system. In this paper, we discuss MDL based on these two communication modes, along with the integration of RADAR, mission computers, and guided missiles.
