This paper presents a generator for stand-alone vibration monitoring system of bridge structure based on ambient vibration of bridge. In this paper, a novel electric power generator which has minimum effect of armature reaction is proposed. The related mechanical and electrical design equations are obtained and a pilot generator has been implemented. In addition, the charging system for extremely low generator current is discussed, and some improvements are identified for the system. This investigation reveals that diode characteristics of rectifier is dominant factor in the charging process. Finally, both the simulation, which uses real measurement data of the Namhae bridge as input of the pilot generator, and indoor test are carried out. The results showed the applicability and effectiveness of the stand-alone vibration powered generator.

Unwanted vibrations are inevitably induced in other directions when pure unidirectional vibration motion is desired for the vertical scratching mechanism. Pure vertical vibration motion of the scratching machine can be obtained by driving identical two motors with symmetrically positioned eccentric unbalance masses. The desired optimal condition for driving pure vertical vibration for the scratching machine is assumed to be the resonance condition in that direction. Imposing the flexibility of the scratching machine in the horizontal direction, we can find out the amount of horizontal vibration component while maintaining the resonance in vertical direction. The desired stiffness in horizontal direction which produces the minimum vibration in horizontal direction are defined which can be used as a guide line to design the supporting structure of the scratching machine.

This paper presents a vibration analysis method for constrained mechanical systems driven by constant generalized speeds. Equilibrium positions are obtained first and vibration analysis are performed around the positions. The method developed in this paper employs partial velocity matrix to obtain a minimum number of differential equations. To verify the accuracy of the proposed algorithm, linear vibration analyses of two numerical examples are performed and the results are compared with results from a commercial program or previous literature.

This study analyzed the stability of antenna equipped on vehicles by the link of modal analysis and random vibration analysis with the vibration data of MIL-STD-810H, METHOD 514.8. As a result of the random vibration analysis of antenna, the maximum equivalent stress 41.9MPa and minimum margin of safety 8.37 was generated in the bracket of antenna by the vertical direction vibration. Thus, it was found that antenna has enough stability during the operation.
Analytical solutions and finite element results of laminated composite plates with smart material layers embedded in them are presented in this study. The third-order plate theory of Reddy is used to study vibration suppression characteristics. The analytical solution for simply supported boundary conditions is based on the Navier solution procedure. The velocity feedback control is used. Parametric effects of the position of the smart material layers, material properties, and control parameters on the suppression time are investigated. It has been found that (a) the minimum vibration suppression time is achieved by placing the smart material layers farthest from the neutral axis, (b) using thinner smart material layers have better vibration attenuation characteristics, and, (c) the vibration suppression time is larger for a lower value of the feedback control coefficient.

This paper deals with finite element analysis for free vibration and forced sine vibration of Ka- and Ku- bend antenna structures using MSC/PATRAN/NASTRAN. The structures are designed to satisfy minimum resonance frequency requirement in order to decouple the dynamic interaction of the satellite with the spacecraft bus structure. From the forced sinusoidal vibration, we have observed output acceleration versus input in X-,Y- and Z- direction, based on base excitation using large mass method. The results of finite elements analysis can be used as the reference data for the experimental test of satellite antenna, resulting in the reduction of cost and time by predicting and complementing experimental data.
Measurement of the vibration transmitted through rotating shafts such as half shafts in vehicles is of interest in applications such as noise transfer analysis and the study of operating deflections. Vibration signals transmitted through a rotating shaft usually include six degree-of-freedom components, thus making the measurement of vibration a challenging task. In the present work, a new measurement method is presented, one that resolves the minimum of only two one-axis accelerometer signals into all components of vibration with reasonable accuracy. The method utilizes the Dopplerized signals obtained from accelerometers attached to a rotating shaft and a Void-Kalman order tracking filter to decompose signals into orders of different vibration components. The new method proposed in the present work is verified by simulated run-up test data and applied to an experimentally obtained data set.

An optimization formulation of unconstrained damping treatment on beams is proposed to minimize vibration responses using a numerical search method. The fractional derivative model is combined with RUK's equivalent stiffness approach in order to represent nonlinearity of complex modulus of damping materials with frequency and temperature. The loss factors of partially covered unconstrained beam are calculated by the modal strain energy method. Vibration responses are calculated by using the modal superposition method, and of which design sensitivity formula with respect to damping layout is derived analytically. Plugging the sensitivity formula into optimization software, we can determine optimally damping treatment region that gives minimum forced response under a given boundary condition. A numerical example shows that the proposed method is very effective in minimizing vibration responses with unconstrained damping layer treatment.

Reduction of the structure-borne noise of the naval vessel is very important in order to reduce the underwater radiated noise of it. One of the important factors to reduce the structure-borne noise of the installed machine in a ship is the design of the foundation having sufficiently high mechanical impedance. In this paper, the mechanical impedance of the foundation for the fan-coil unit in a naval vessel is evaluated numerically according to variation of the thickness of the foundation. And also, the forced vibration analysis is conducted considering the dynamic property of the anti-vibration mount. Through the analysis results, it can be known that the dynamic property of the anti-vibration mount should be considered when the minimum level of the mechanical impedance of the foundation is set.

The effect of vertical vibration of a beam is significantly influenced by higher modes of vibration. Therefore, a beam can be modeled using several elements must De used to represent a vibrating beam. As a result, analysis of a space framed structure for vertical vibration requires increase number of elements leading to more complicated model with many degree of freedom which requires large amount of computing resources for dynamic analysis. An efficient analysis method for vertical vibration of space framed structures are proposed in this paper which is presented in three method. The first method is to determine minimum nodes that shall be used to obtain dynamic response with the vertical vibration. Secondly, matrix condensation methods are introduced to reduce the computation efforts used to perform dynamic analysis and the selection of primary degree-of-freedom is proposed. The third method is of using the mass participation factor for the selection of primary degree-of-freedom.
