우정공무원의 스트레스와 웰빙에 대한 마음챙김-긍정심리 EAP 프로그램의 효과 (The Effects of Mindfulness-Positive Psychology EAP Program on Stress and Well-Being of Postal Workers)

  • Objective : This study aimed to develop a customized EAP program for post office workder, incorporating mindfulness and positive psychology, and to test the effectiveness of the intervention on job burnout and well-being of the postal workers. Methods : Participants were currently working postal employees and were recruited voluntarily through the website of the Korea post human resources development institute. A total of 42 workers participated in the program until the end and completed preprogram and post program questionnaires. Results : The results showed that the mindfulness-positive psychology EAP program significantly improved the participants' mindfulness (t=-5.021, p<0.001), job burnout (t=5.824, p<0.001), self-esteem (t=-4.852, p<0.001), positive affect (t=-4.534, p<0.001), negative affect (t=5.635, p<0.001), and body tension (t=6.355, p<0.001), with statistically significant effects on all measures. Conclusion : The results indicated that the mindfulness-positive psychology EAP class had a significantly positive effect on increasing mindfulness, self-esteem, and positive affect and decreasing job burnout, negative affect, and body tension among postal workers, demonstrating the usefulness of an integrated approach.

한국형 마음 챙김 명상에 기반한 스트레스 감소 프로그램이 만성통증에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Korean version of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program on Chronic Pain of Workers.)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 한국형 마음 챙김 명상에 기반한 스트레스 감소 프로그램이 근로자의 만성통증완화에 미치는 영향을 연구 하는데 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 만성통증을 가진 근로자 20명을 대상으로 프로그램의 효과를 알아보기 위해 사전 검사, 사후 검사, 추수 검사에서 측정한 평균점수로 혼합변량분석(Mixed ANOVA)을 실시하였다. 분석된 자료는 심리적, 신체적, 신경 생리적 반응이었다. 아울러 프로그램 후 각 효과가 지속적으로 유지될 것인가를 추가 검증하고자 3개월 후에 사후검증도 실시하였다. 본 연구 결과, 프로그램 참여 집단의 신체적 증상과 신체화, 강박증, 대인예민성, 우울, 불안, 적대감, 공포불안, 정신증 등의 반응이 프로그램 참여 전에 비해 유의미하게 감소하였고, 또한 생리 및 신경생리지표 또한 프로그램 전에 비해 유의미한 변화가 나타났으며, 3개월 후까지 이러한 변화의 효과가 유지되었다. 본 연구의 결과로 보아 마음 챙김 명상에 기반한 스트레스 감소 프로그램은 통증환자의 심리적, 신체적, 신경생리적 통증완화에 유의미한 영향력을 미치는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 따라서 본 연구결과를 통해 만성통증환자의 임상적 프로그램 개발의 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다.

마음챙김 명상과 이정변기요법을 이용한 PTSD 환자 치험례 (A Case Report for PTSD Patients Based on Mindfulness & I-Jeong-Byeon-Gi Therapy)

  • The purpose of this study was to introduce a PTSD patient who experienced significant effects of mindfulness meditation and Ii-Gyeung-Byun-Qi therapy. Our psychotherapy was executed five times a week for the 14-year-old male patient who attended middle school and was diagnosed by DSM-IV Diagnostic Criteria for PTSD, and then the MMPI-A was evaluated to determine the effects after 3 months. The results showed normal profiles of MMPI-A validity scales and Clinical Scales profile after his treatment, positive changes in content scales, and significant decreases of PSYC (psychoticism) and NEGE (negative emotionality) in PSY-5 scales. This study made through a case report on the treated psychotherapy for PTSD by the applications of modern psychological techniques in the Korean psychotherapy. We expected that this case report will have a role in development of standardized psychotherapy programs for PTSD.

임부를 위한 자비명상 기반 중재의 가능성 탐색: 예비연구 (An Examination of the Possibility of Loving-Kindness and Compassion Meditation for Pregnant Women: A Preliminary Study)

  • 임부들의 심리적 안정과 태아와의 건강한 관계는 주산기 적응에 중요한 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 정신건강과 대인관계 개선에 효과적인 것으로 알려져 있는 자비명상을 임부용으로 개발하기 위하여 탐색적 예비연구를 진행하였다. 효과성과 개선점을 파악하기 위해 4주 자비명상 프로그램 참가자(n=8)들의 스트레스, 우울, 태아애착, 마음챙김 및 자기자비를 기저선과 사후에 측정하였으며, 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 바탕으로 현상학적 분석을 실시하였다. 결과는 자비명상이 임부의 심리적 안정과 태아와의 관계에 긍정적인 영향을 줄 가능성이 나타났으며, 회기구성 및 가정수련 보강방안 등의 보완점들을 발견할 수 있었다. 본 연구가 임부용 자비명상 개발을 위한 이해의 폭을 넓히고, 추후 연구들을 촉진할 것이라 기대한다.

마음챙김 기공이 소아청소년의 주의집중력에 미치는 영향 (Effects of mindfulness-based qigong for children's concentration ability)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of Mindfulness-based concentration qigong for children (MBCQ-C) in healthy children with subjective poor attention. Methods : This study examined the effects of MBCQ-C on healthy children with subjective poor attention, who vistied Korean medicine hospital neuropsychiatry outpatient clinic. The MBCQ-C was practiced with 11 participants, 2 of them quit in the middle of the program, and hence, they were excluded for data analysis. MBCQ-C consisted of 8 sessions, and each session took about 60 minutes. The outcome measurement was Frankfurter Aufmerksamkeits-Inventar (FAIR), which measured selective attention, self-control and sustained attention. Results : The results of this study showed that selective attention, and sustained attention were significantly improved. Self-control also improved, but without any statistical significance. These results indicate MBCQ-C was effective for the improvement of attention abilities, but self-control, including upper cognition area needs more consistent exercise. Conclusions : The MBCQ-C consisting of 8 sessions were shown to be an effective intervention in improving the attention abilities of healthy children with subjective poor attention.

알레르기성 비염의 한의학 및 보완대체의학적 치료에 대한 국내 임상 연구 동향 (Review of Clinical Studies on Korean Medicine and Complementary and Alternative Medicine Treatment for Allergic Rhinitis in the Korean Literature)

  • Objectives The purpose of this study is to analyze Korean clinical studies in Korean medicine and complementary and alternative medicine for allergic rhinitis and to propose for better methods of clinical studies and effective treatments on allergic rhinitis. Methods Electronic researches were performed with NDSL, RISS, KISTI, KISS, OASIS by keyword 'Allergic rhinitis'. Results The treatments used in 36 studies were herbal medicines, acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, moxibustion, cupping, inject medicine to nasal cavity, aroma therapy, ointment, nasal cleansing solution, laser treatment, infra-red therapy, oxygen nebulizer, diet treatment, moxa-pellet treatment, mindfulness meditation and space-spine manipulation techniques. The most common acupoints were LI4 and LI20 (Large Intestine Meridian). The most common methods of assessment is subjective nasal symptoms. All studies using subjective nasal symptoms and quality of life as assessment methods to show valid results on the improvement of allergic rhinitis. Conclusions This study shows that Korean medicine and complementary and alternative medicine on allergic rhinitis are effective. It will be expected to use that various methods for allergic rhinitis and more clinical studies for allergic rhinitis and pediatric patients needed in the future.

한국형 마음챙김 명상 프로그램이 중년여성의 스트레스, 스트레스 대처방식, 우울, 분노 및 수면에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of K-MBSR Program on Stress, Stress Coping Style, Depression, Anger and Sleep of Middle Aged Women)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine a Korean Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (K-MBSR) program for middle aged women and to verify the program's effectiveness on stress, stress coping style, depression, anger and sleep. Methods: Fifty-two women aged from 40 to 59 (26 in the experimental group and 26 in the control group) from G city participated in the study. Data were collected from February 13 to April 3, 2013. The experimental group received 8 sessions, scheduled once a week, with each session lasting two and a half hours. Outcome variables included stress, stress coping style, depression, anger, sleep and a physiological measure (EEG). Results: There were significant decreases for stress (t=-2.14, p=.037), depression (t=-2.64, p=.011), state trait anger (t=-3.79, p<.001) in the experimental group compared to the control group. Conclusion: The findings in this study indicate that the K-MBSR program is an effective program to decrease stress, depression, and state trait anger in middle aged women.

Psychiatric understanding and treatment of patients with amputations

  • Amputation changes the lives of patients and their families. Consequently, the patient must adapt to altered body function and image. During this adaptation process, psychological problems, such as depression, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress disorder, can occur. The psychological difficulties of patients with amputation are often accepted as normal responses that are often poorly recognized by patients, family members, and their primary physicians. Psychological problems can interfere with rehabilitation and cause additional psychosocial problems. Therefore, their early detection and treatment are important. A multidisciplinary team approach, including mental health professionals, is ideal for comprehensive and biopsychosocial management. Mental health professionals could help patients set realistic goals and use adaptive coping styles. Psychiatric approaches should consider the physical, cognitive, psychological, social, and spiritual functions and social support systems before and after amputation. The abilities and limitations of physical, cognitive, psychological, and social functions should also be considered. To improve the patient's adaptation, psychological interventions such as short-term psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness meditation, biofeedback, and group psychotherapy can be helpful.

코로나19 팬데믹 상황에서 국내 의과대학생이 경험한 일상생활 변화, 정신건강 문제 및 스트레스 대처 (Medical Students' Perceived Changes in Life, Mental Health Problems, and Strategies for Coping with Stress during the COVID-19 Pandemic)

  • This study aimed to examine the influence of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on areas of Korean medical students' lives, assess concerns, and investigate the strategies they used to cope with stress due to the pandemic. An online survey with a total of 53 items on the impact of COVID-19, concerns, and coping strategies was sent to medical students, and responses were collected from April 27, 2021 to May 30, 2021. In total, 1,329 students were included in the study. Analysis was performed using the chi-square test, independent-sample t-test, and one-way analysis of variance, and the post-hoc Scheffé test or Games-Howell test was performed for multiple comparisons. The main negative impacts of the pandemic were on hobbies/leisure activities and mental health, and medical students expressed the highest levels of concern regarding restriction of movement, returning to everyday life, and risk of infection for family and friends. Female students more strongly agreed that COVID-19 had increased their depressed mood and anxiety (p<0.001 and p=0.003, respectively). Furthermore, the negative impacts of the pandemic on different areas of life significantly affected current levels of depressed mood and anxiety. To cope with pandemic-related stress, students used several strategies such as talking with family or friends (91.5%), sleeping (83.1%), exercising (72.8%), using social networking services (60.8%), drinking alcohol (37.8%), and practicing meditation/mindfulness (24.4%); the effectiveness of these strategies ranged from 3.45 to 4.19 on a 5-point Likert-type scale (1-5). The study findings suggest that COVID-19 has influenced the mental health of medical students and raised concerns in many areas of their lives. Students used various strategies to cope with the pandemic-related stress; since the effectiveness of frequently used approaches varied, it is essential to guide medical students to develop effective coping strategies.

노인의 자살생각에 영향을 미치는 요인군에 대한 메타분석 (Suicide among the Elderly in Korea: A Meta-Analysis)

  • 본 연구는 노인의 자살생각에 미치는 영향요인에 대한 선행연구들의 결과를 메타분석을 통하여 종합하여 제시하며, 이를 바탕으로 자살생각 단계에서부터 자살을 효과적으로 예방하기 위한 자살예방프로그램 개발과 상담적 접근 방법을 모색하는데 실질적인 자료를 제공하고자 한다. 분석대상 자료는 2001년부터 2016년까지 국내 학술지에 게재된 선행연구들 중 노인의 자살생각에 영향을 미치는 변인들을 독립변인으로 하고 노인의 자살생각을 종속변인으로 하는 연구물 총 97편으로 하였다. 노인의 자살생각에 미치는 영향요인을 개인변인군, 가족변인군, 사회변인군으로 나누고 각각의 체계 안에서 자살생각의 유발요인과 억제요인을 살펴보았다. 분석 결과, 총 30개의 변인중 개인변인군에서 19개의 하위변인이 추출되었고 유발요인에서는 우울, 짐스러움, 스트레스가, 억제요인에서는 정신건강이 효과크기가 큰 것으로 나타났다. 가족변인군에서는 5개의 하위변인이 추출되었고, 유발요인 중 동거인 없음이 중간 효과크기를, 억제변인 중 가족결속은 큰 효과크기를 보였다. 사회변인군에서는 6개의 하위변인이 추출되었으며, 유발변인은 노인차별, 사회고립, 부정적 사회관계 순으로 효과크기가 나타났고, 억제변인은 사회관계, 사회지지, 사회환경, 사회활동 순으로 효과크기가 나타났다.
