The purpose of this study is to examine the military look, which is one of the most popular fashion trends in the 1996 women's fashion. Military look is that imitates or reinterprets the Army uniform which is functionally useful. After World War 1 , military look appeared in the women's fashion which is functionable tailor suits style, ankle-length skirt, pants or boiler suits for work wear, overcoat against the cold, and there was an attempt to introduce a National Standard Dress. In the middle of World War II, there was a similiar circumstance in women's military fashion. There were functionable tailor suits, knee-length skirt, pants or siren suits for work wear. And the Utility Dress was nationally recommended. In addition, the regulations were introduced to control the materials and styles used for some clothes. In the 70s, as the resistance movement as counterculture began to wear Army look which was army-uniform or army caps with 'US ARMY' logo and badges, and became very popular among the youth. In the 90s, military look has got one of the fashionable fashion themes with revival of Neo- Hippie look. Not only street fashion but also high fashion designer selected the trend for '96A/W The characteristics of the military look are khaki colors or camouflage prints, epaulets, big outpockets with flap, golden buttons and army belt. As I examined, during the World War I and ll, women wore the military look because of shortage of goods and work or service, and it was recommended by government. Though the military look in 70s, began by the resistance movement, at least it became a popular fashion. Military look in 90s, does not have inner symbolic meaning or ideology but it only represents fashion trend and revival fashion.
This study investigates the problems of fitness and motion suitability for Korean female military winter jackets (inner and outer) and provides data for new pattern development. We analyzed fitness and motion suitability by a questionnaire survey with 39 Korean female soldiers and a wearing evaluation with 8 subjects of the female soldeier's center size. The results of the study are as follows. 1. In the survey result on the fitness with female soldiers, fit of collar showed a score lower than 3.0 for the inner jacket and front interscye breadth, chest circumference, collar height on the outer jacket. The result on the motion suitability showed that both the inner jacket and the outer jacket were above 3.0 (moderate), indicating that the dissatisfactory factors were not large. 2. The wearing evaluation results with the subjects of central army female size, discomfort factor derived the chest circumference, neck circumference, item of the hem circumference and collar height on the outer jacket. This study is meaningful in evaluating the current military winter jacket of female soldiers and it is expected to be used as a basic data for future pattern improvement of military winter jacket for female soldiers.
This study was to develop an ergonomic Korean male military winter jackets (inner and outer) pattern. First, we developed a prototype pattern and sample jackets based on a previous investigation for fitness and motion suitability of Korean male military winter jackets and evaluated fitness and motion suitability by a wearing test. The evaluation results were positive with an over 3.0 (5.0 Likert scale) for both the inner and outer jacket. However, a relatively low score was shown in the sleeve length and collar front height at the inner jacket and shown in hem circumference, neck circumference, elbow and front neck at the outer jacket. Next, we developed the secondary pattern and sample jacket reflecting the prototype evaluation result and executed expert evaluation. The result showed that the ease amount was appropriate (except for the collar back height) and the appearance was good. Finally, we developed a final pattern that showed good results after evaluation at a Korean military army base.
Fastener tapes are widely used as auxiliary materials in textile products, and military textiles products are also applied. However, in Korea, the HL3-WA class of KS K 1309 was applied to military uniforms without consideration of the operating environment. Instead of adopting the standard of initial strength for Korean military uniforms, the US military applied the value after 3 washings, and presented different properties according to the items. Also in Japan, the standard was applied differently according to products in general clothing. The purpose of this study in to examine the quality level of fastener tapes used for military materials. The changes of tensile shear strength and peel strength of military and commercial fastener tape were studied after washing. As a result, the initial strength of the current military fastener tapes was higher than commercial one, but the strength retention rate was rapidly decreased as the number of washing. So it was confirmed that the decrease in strength was relatively lower than commercial one. It is necessary to improve the durability by adjusting the adhesive strength to suit the purpose of the product, and it is necessary to consider the priority of maintaining the durability according to the initial performance and repeated use according to the use environment, respectively.
In this study, As a previous stage to manufacture disposable tent for military camouflage, we examine possibility of inorganic material absorption on PET surface. In order to, we created unevenness by sputtering process on PET surface and made absorption with Zirconium (ZIA) that has nano particles. and we went on study to its effect.
To get the basic data for making comfortable military uniforms and to examine the distribution of clothing microclimate, seasonal fluctuations of skin temperature, subjective sensation, and clothing microclimate were measured from 10 males. The subject were questioned on thermal comfort in experiment. Clothing microclimate temperature at breast, skin temperature at four sites (breast, upper arm, thigh, leg), deep body temperature at eardrum( tympanic temperature), and subjective sensation were measured for an hour in the controlled climatic chamber. The subjects felt comfortable when skin temperature were recorded $34.43^{\circ}C$ at breast, $33.53^{\circ}C$ at upper arm, $32.9^{\circ}C$ at thigh, and 32.50 at leg. Then mean skin temperature was $33.55\pm$$0.63^{\circ}C$. Clothing microclimate temperature ranged from 31.2 to $33.8^{\circ}C$, and clothing microclimate humidity ranged from 49.80~52.41%. In the comparison of these results with the microclimate of military uniforms, it needs more insulation in clothing for military uniforms. It also says that military uniforms should be made of the textiles which can control humidity.

On hi-fashion, from the 1960s to the early half of the 1970s, by the influence of the minimalism, maintained it's couture style, which is the formal image as well as moderating the line and simplifying the details, From the latter part of the 1970s to the 1980s, mannish image was sensed greatly by the wide shoulders with pads and large silhouette. The 1990's theme was the retro. Many different expression techniques appeared, but the trend was the retro. However, on the streets, young generation and hippies wore unisex army mode because of the influence of anti-war movement. Also, Hell's Angels, punks used black leather jacket with Nazi symbol, badge and eyelet expressed to show their aggressiveness as an avantgarde fashion. This study was designed to help develop an optimized sizing system for the military winter jackets of Korean males. First, we conducted a survey on the supply rate of military winter jackets and the wearing of suitable size jackets in order to identify problems in the current sizing system. We next developed a new sizing system generation method to satisfy the coverage rate and appropriate size number: Hybrid of Grid with Optimization. The findings of this study were: 1. The survey indicated that a 90 (chest girth) size is necessary; in addition, a one-step large size jacket fit well as a right size jacket. 2. We developed three optimized sizing systems for Korean male military winter jackets using the Hybrid of Grid with an optimization method and suggested one of them as a final new sizing system. The new sizing system consisted of two primary dimension: chest girth and stature. It has a 14 size number and its extended coverage rate is larger than the current sizing system and it has a 90 (chest girth) size. It also selected an optimized size for the area of low population density. The new sizing system is therefore considered very effective for Korean male soldiers military winter jackets.
