Recently, thanks to the development of artificial intelligence technologies such as image recognition, research on unmanned aerial vehicles is being actively conducted. In particular, related research is increasing in the field of military drones, which costs a lot to foster professional pilot personnel, and one of them is the study of an intelligent framework for autonomous mission performance of reconnaissance drones. In this study, we tried to design an intelligent framework for unmanned aerial vehicles using the methodology of designing an intelligent framework for service robots. For the autonomous mission performance of unmanned aerial vehicles, the intelligent framework and unmanned aerial vehicle module must be smoothly linked. However, it was difficult to provide interworking for drones using periodic message protocols with model-based interfaces of intelligent frameworks for existing service robots. First, the message model lacked expressive power for periodic message protocols, followed by the problem that interoperability of asynchronous data exchange methods of periodic message protocols and intelligent frameworks was not provided. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a message model extension method for message periodic description to secure the model's expressive power for the periodic message model, and proposes periodic and asynchronous data exchange methods using the extended model to provide interoperability of different data exchange methods.

Background: Dental phobia or anxiety of patients is the serious impediment to appropriate and effective dental treatment. Sedative technique helps to mitigate patients' fear and anxiety thus make them more cooperative and familiar to dental practices. With increasing attention to sedative dentistry in dentists, educational requirements and technical qualification also become stricter but actual survey on recent sedative dentistry has not been reported yet. Especially there is insufficient study reporting the survey of sedative dentistry subjected to Korean adults. In this paper, we conducted a survey study on the actual condition and practice related to sedation with a questionnaire to dentists in South Korea. Methods: The survey was done for members of The Korean Dental Society of Anesthesiology (KDSA), who had great interest in sedation and for whom survey-by-mail was convenient. 472 members of The KDSA having dental license and solid address and contact information were subjected to the survey by sending them survey questions about their sedative techniques and knowledge. In order to increase the response rate, small gifts were presented to those who accurately responded to the survey questions and text messages and phone calls were made to encourage their participation. We collected their responses over two months and examined the returned surveys. Statistical analysis was performed using IBM SPSS Statistics 21 for each question. Results: Out of 472 dentists, 181 responded (38.4% response rate). 63.0% (114 dentists; 77 male and 37 female) of respondents had experience on sedative technique and their average age was $39.8{\pm}7.6$ year. 74 of them were private practitioners, 17 of them were professors (14.9%), 11 of them were dentists-in-service (9.6%), 11 of them were residents (specialist training) (9.6%) and 1 of them was military doctors (0.9%). There were 89 dentists (78.1%) who were specialists or receiving trainings to be specialist, most of whom were pediatric dentists (55, 48.2%) and oral surgeon (31, 27.2%). The most popular route for drug medications was orderly oral, inhalational, intravenous medication. Combination of oral and inhalational medications or single use of intravenous medication was the most common. The most preferred sedative drug was pocral in oral sedation and midazolam in intravenous sedation. 48.2% of practitioners responded that they experienced side effects and emergency situations. Airway obstruction was the most frequent. Conclusions: Results from the survey show that the protocol and system for sedative dentistry have been improved compared to the past. Nevertheless, quality of emergency protocol, monitoring devices and preparation of sedative drugs was still insufficient to achieve safe sedative procedure. This study acquires novelty since actual survey on recent sedative dentistry for adult patients has not been reported yet.

Tubes are of extreme importance in industries as for fluid channels or wave guides. Furthermore, some weapon systems such as cannons use the tubes as gun barrels. To increase the service life of such tubes, a protective coating must be applied to the tubes' inner surface. However, the coating methods applicable to the inner surface of the tubes are very limited due to the geometrical restriction. A small-diameter cylindrical magnetron sputtering gun can be used to deposit coating layers on the inner surface of the large-bore tubes. However, for small-bore tubes with the inner diameter of one inch (~25 mm), the magnetron sputtering method can hardly be accommodated due to the space limitation for permanent magnet assembly. In this study, a new approach to coat the inner surface of small-bore tubes with the inside diameter of one inch was developed. Instead of using permanent magnets for magnetron operation, an external electro-magnet assembly was adopted around the tube to confine the plasma and to sustain the discharge. The electro-magnet was operated in pulse mode to provide the strong axial magnetic field for the magnetron operation, which was synchronized with the negative high-voltage pulse applied to the water-cooled coaxial sputtering target installed inside the tube. By moving the electro-magnet assembly along the tube's axial direction, the inner surface of the tube could be uniformly coated. The inner-surface coating system in this study used the tube itself as the vacuum chamber. The SS-304 tube's inner diameter was 22 mm and the length was ~1 m. A water-cooled Cu tube (sputtering target) of the outer diameter of 12 mm was installed inside of the SS tube (substrate) at the axial position. The 50 mm-long electro-magnet assembly was fed by a current pulse of 250 A at the frequency and pulse width of 100 Hz and 100 usec, respectively. The calculated axial magnetic field strength at the center was ~0.6 Tesla. The central Cu tube was synchronously driven by a HiPIMS power supply at the same frequency of 100 Hz as the electro-magnet and the applied pulse voltage was -1200 V with a pulse width of 500 usec. At 150 mTorr of Ar pressure, the Cu deposition rate of ~10 nm/min could be obtained. In this talk, a new method to sputter coat the inner surface of small-bore tubes would be presented and discussed, which might have broad industrial and military application areas.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of customized foot orthotics on lower extremity muscle activity and fatigue during march in combat boots. Four volunteers with normal foot and five volunteers with excessive pronation foot among soldiers on service were fitted with foot orthotics. The electromyography signal from activity of low extremity muscles were collected with surface electromyography device during walking on the treadmill. The walk on the treadmill was performed with a speed of 4.5 km/h. The experiment design for reseach wes composed two experimentation. The first experiment was to examine the muscle activity of lower extremity between normal foot and excessive pronator foot during march. The second experiment was to examine the muscle activity of lower extremity between wearing orthotics and no wearing orthotics. These data were analyzed by the averaged integral EMG and the mean power frequency. The analyzed results were compared by independent T-test method and paired T-test method of SPSS(windows version 12.0). The result of the study were the muscle activity on pronator foot tend to increase during march but a statistically significant increase in muscle fatigue of vastus lateralis and fibularis longus. A statistically significant decrease in muscle activity of anterior tibialis and fibularis longus and fatigue occurred using the customized foot orthotics in volunteers with excessive pronation foot compared to volunteers with normal foot. Clinically, the application of orthotics for the soldiers with excessive pronation foot appears to delay muscle fatigue and prevent from variable foot injuries. This may contribute to enhancing fighting efficiency.
The purpose of this study is to survey the learner's recognition about the descending life lines for the fire emergency escaping purpose (DLL-FEEP). For that, we surveyed 307 adult males and females in Chungcheongnam-do, Daejeon metropolitan city, and Sejong metropolitan autonomous city. The surveyed data was statistically analyzed by SPSS 20.0 win program. In the results, 72.64% research participates have received a fire safety education. However, among them, 39.46% research participates have received a fire safety education without the contents of the DLL-FEEP. The style of the education for the DLL-FEEP is mainly the instructor-led training which is 79.26%. The 81.43% research participates have never used a DLL-FEEP. Based on the results in this study, the political proposal based on these results was as follows. We think that the expansion of the educational contents for the DLL-FEEP need in the fire safety education. We believe that results of this paper will help to serve as a basis for the efficient fire safety education with adults.

As the importance of knowledge is emphasized and the environment of battlefields is changing, the military also demands competent people equipped with creativity, cooperativeness and communication ability, and in this situation it is required to apply PBL to education in the navy. The present study went through three stages in order to develop a prototype to implement a naval e PBL support system for knowledge creation. First, databases in Korea Education and Research Information Service, National Assembly Library, etc. were searched using keywords such as PBL, e-PBL, knowledge creation and knowledge ecosystem. In addition, we selected and analyzed frequently quoted literature and recent research reports related to this study among domestic and foreign theses, books, research papers, etc. recommended by specialists in contents, and derived the key values of a knowledge creation type e-PBL support system and design strategies. Second, we developed a primary prototype based on the contents of analysis and, revising it according to teaching design specialists' opinions, we proposed the final prototype of knowledge creation type naval e PBL support system and it has values as follows. First, the knowledge creation type naval e PBL support system provides learners with opportunities to apply e PBL and helps them improve their creativity, cooperativeness and communication ability and accumulate know how of services. Second, it improves work efficiency by circulating knowledge through sharing among individuals or groups, and produces synergy that promotes the organizational culture of learning. Third, the knowledge creation type naval e-PBL support system enables teachers who apply PBL to school education to find new applications of PBL in constructing knowledge bases.
The aim of this study was to reduce the number of negligent accidents by improving the fire safety consciousness of infant and child teachers working in a day care center. For this purpose, 242 early childhood teachers working in the national nursery school in Daejeon and Chungcheongnam-do were surveyed. For the survey, the questionnaire consisted of job satisfaction, teacher's efficacy, and fire safety consciousness. The survey data were analyzed using the SPSS 20.0 win program. The factor of job satisfaction and teacher's efficacy had a significant positive influence on the fire safety consciousness of the early childhood teachers (<.05). The teacher's efficacy was found to mediate the relationship between the job satisfaction and fire safety consciousness. In conclusion, this study suggests that teacher's fire safety consciousness is high when the teacher's job satisfaction and efficacy are high. This study is expected to contribute to basic research to increase the teachers' consciousness of fire safety.

A result of national malaria surveillance in Korean civilians was described. Since a case of indigenous vivax malaria was detected in 1993, a total of 2,198 cases was confirmed by blood smear up to 1997. Of them, 1,548 cases were soldiers serving in the demilitarized zone (DMZ), while 650 cases were civilians. Number of civilian cases was 3 in 1994, 19 in 1995, 71 in 1996, and 557 in 1997. Of them, 239 were ex-soldiers who discharged after military service in the prevalent areas such as Paju, Yonchon, Kimpo, Kangwha, Tongduchon in Kyonggi-do and Chorwon in Kangwon-do while 308 patients were civilian residents in the prevalent areas. Seventy-two patients, living nationwide, had a history of visiting the prevalent areas during transmission season. Only 32 civilian patients denied any relation with the prevalent areas. As a whole, a half of the civilian cases was diagnosed when living in non-prevalent areas. Male patients in their twenties was the highest in number. Annual parasite index is steadily elevated in residents living in the prevalent areas. Monthly incidence showed an unimodal distribution, forming a peak in August. Ex-soldiers exhibited a delayed incubation ranging from 153 to 452 days ($279{\pm}41$ days). The time required for diagnosis was shortened from 23.6 days in 1995 to 13.7 days in 1997. Although the current epidemic of vivax malaria started as a border malaria, it seems highly probable that vivax malaria is established in the local areas and responsible for at least a part of transmission.
