  • The population of aged people in industries has been increased remarkably due to the decline of birth rates and the increase of average life span. Also, the current automation trends makes aged people to work easy in industries since automation technologies help them to avoid physically hard tasks. Therefore the evaluation of aged workers' adaptability would be an important research topic. In the study, the mean and standard deviation of the reaction time are calculated to see the differences with four lamps's types and ages. It is found that the mean reaction time and the standard deviation are increased with the the increase of age. The quantitative approach provides an important information to be used not only for the adaptability estimation of aged workers but also for the working capability qualification for re-employment.

The research design was a quasi experimental, nonequivalent control-group pretest-posttest design. The data were collected from February 24 to April 14, 1998. The subjects were midlife women, ages 40 to 50 years who reside in Chonju city. The experimental group consisted of 41 subjects and the control group 40 subjects. The instruments used for the study were the Self Efficacy Scale and the Health Promotion Behavior Scale developed by Park(1995). The data was analyzed by SPSS/PC. The study results were as follows : Through the 7 week education program for health promotion, self efficacy and health behavior were effectively changed in middle-aged.

  • The quantitative contents of carbon monooxide in fresh blood for smokers and nonsmokers were measured by uv-visible spectrophotometric methods on the teenagers and adults. As a result, all blood contained some level of carbon monooxide. Typical teenager nonsmokers had a carbon monooxide level between 2.45 and 2.73%, smokers had a between 7.64 and 8.81%. On the other hand, adult nonsmokers contained carbon monooxide to 3.55% in fresh blood and adult smokers had 10.64%. This means that smokers have more carbon monooxide in blood than nonsmokers at the all ages.

  • The purpose of this study is to pigeonhole theoretical notions of asymmetry and historical flow of asymmetry designed dresses, understand the trend of asymmetry design in modern fashion and find out its plastic character. The result of this study is as follows. The asymmetry is un-harmony artistic structure that unbalanced left and right in designing. The asymmetry fashion were seen that drapery dress of Egypt, Greece, Rome in ancient times and design by strong color contrast in heraldry and hose, accessory in the middle ages. In modern times, it was seen as complicated and mixed appearance by the influence of post-modernism. The asymmetry designs in modern fashion are shown varied styles by asymmetry of silhouette, detail, fabric, wearing method. The characters of these are a sense of de-construction, formative sense, and exaggeration The asymmetry design must be made by cutting, sewing, and high degree of technique through the latest skill and study.

  • This study focused on the importance of the attachment/caregiving system at a dyadic level, and examined relationships between maternal representations of caregiving, maternal caregiving behavior, and child attachment. Seventy-five middle-class mothers and their preschool children(ages 3-4) participated in the study. Results indicated a strong correspondence between maternal representations of caregiving and maternal caregiving behavior at the secure/insecure and ordered/disordered level. The correspondence between maternal representations of caregiving and their preschooler's attachment, and between maternal caregiving behavior and their preschooler's attachment at the secure/insecure level were also strong. The correspondence between maternal representations of caregiving and their preschooler's attachment was mediated by maternal caregiving behavior.

  • Several volcanics are found within the Tertiary sedimentary basins, southeastern part of Korea. The sedimentary basins have been interpreted to have formed in the framework of separation of the East Sea. The volcanics are Eocene or Early and Middle Miocene in ages, showing a distincetve chronological gap, and show mafic and silicic (bimodal) in composotion. The Miocene volcanics were regionally and stratigraphically grouped into two varieties along the Hyeongsan fault; younger volcanics (13.6-15.2 Ma, K) from the north of the fault, erupted after the opening of the East Sea, and older volcanics (16.2-21.1 Ma) from the south of the fault. • The purpose of this study is to examine the possibilities of use as a factor of the water landscape in modern urban spaces such as parks and, apartments, through a case study of the concept, functions, and culture of moats in the East and West from ancient times to the Middle Ages. This study aimed to examine the concept, origin, and function of the moat as a theoretical consideration. Asian castles with moats, including those in Korea, China and Japan, and Western castles with moats in Britain, France, Belgium, and Germany were investigated and analyzed. By reflecting on these cultures and the functions of the moat in modern urban spaces and converting the environment damaged due to industrialization and urbanization into an eco-friendly and environment symbiotic city the quality of life can be improved, and sustainable development can be achieved. This study was conducted through a literature survey and field investigation.

  • This study examines the impact of consumer knowledge and familiarity with private label brands (PLBs) on perceptions and preferences toward PLBs and patronage intentions; in addition, it examines the incremental effects of a department store image over consumer knowledge and familiarity with perceptions, preferences, and patronage intentions. This study focused on midscale department store PLBs of apparel products and middle age consumers between the ages of 30 and 50 who are the main consumer group of private label brands of apparel products. A structured questionnaire was developed and data were collected from a convenience sample of 257 female consumers between the ages of 35 and 54, living in the Southeastern United States. A factor analysis identified the dimensions of department store image constructs; in addition, a hierarchical regression and multiple regression analyses examined the hypotheses. Consumer knowledge and familiarity with PLBs at department stores is recognized as a major determinant to shape consumer perceptions of and preferences for the PLBs as well as patronage intentions. The present study reveals the significant incremental effect of a store image on consumer preferences, perceptions, and patronage intentions beyond that explained by consumer knowledge and familiarity about PLBs. The study reveals that, among four store image constructs, the store atmosphere and store service factors had significant positive effects on consumer perceptions of PLBs. Store service and atmospheric aspects also affect consumer patronage intentions toward PLBs. The price factor shows a significant and positive influence on the preference consumers have for PLBs, but not on perceptions and patronage intentions. This study has practical implications for department store executives and managers on how to allocate resources in order to increase positive consumer perceptions toward PLBs, preferences over other brands, and patronage intentions of PLBs at a store as well as how to create effective store environments to promote PLBs.
