Studies Inquiry on School Dietary Education in the Home Economics Education (가정교과교육에서의 학교식생활교육 모색)

  • Recently, Korean society is experiencing many serious dietary problems of adolescents. There is an urgent need to revitalize and improve the effects of dietary education program for middle and high school students. The purpose of this study is to establish the basis for dietary education in school. This research was conducted using various dietary education program of foreign countries in order to find a way to increase the effects of the program so that more and more adolescents can participate in and eventually get benefits from it. We analyzed contents of the program and the ways how the program is actually conducted in other countries. We were able to find some important factors for developing new directions of dietary education program contents. The dietary education for middle school students requires a practical integrative approach based on home economics education. This study was initiated from the probing question of how should we set dietary education goals and contents of middle and high school. It will definitely play a important role in establishing a standard framework for dietary education based on the Home Economics Education in middle and high school students.

Effect of Education on the Attitude of Home Life for the Boy’s in Middle School (중학교 남학생에 대한 가정과 교육이 가정생활에 미치는 영향)

  • The central goal of this study is to find out of the boy students in middle school the attitude towards house life and house-hold affairs of the boys; and explain what will be of their attitude after they have got Home Economics education. For the purpose of this study, 138 questionairs were distributed to the boy students who had educated Home Economics in school and the ones who had not. The results were as follows; 1. The educated group has higher score in ability of house-hold making than the other group. 2. The educated students responed affirmatively to the utility and necessity of Home Economics education. 3. The teachers who have taught Home Economics to male students have opinions that the students needed Home Economics education to increase the ability of doing house-hold work. Accordingly, Home Economics education should be taught to both sexes in order to have good quality of life, and requires more hours to study as well.

Basic Study for Effective Sex Education of Home Economics in Middle School Curriculum (중학교 가정교과 과정 중 효과적인 성교육을 위한 기초 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine middle school students' needs for sex education as a basic study for effective sexuality education of Home Economics in middle school curriculum. 305 middle school students from two schools in Chung-ju were participated in this study. The results of this study are; (1) sexual intercourse was the highest checked item that the students want to know; however, prevention of sexual violence and contraception were the lowest responses; (2) showing video tape and sex education professional lecture methods were the most effective ways to teach sex education that the students believed; (3) the curiosity regarding sex that the students did not satisfied with current school sex education have met by watching sexual video tape or TV; and (4) the students believed that sex education should be started in the elementary school curriculum and they wanted to learn with sex education professional.

  • The Purpose of this study is to investigate the video game bahaviors in middle and high school boys. The data were collected using questionnaires from 342 boys. The major results of this study were summarized as follows ; Most of the middle and high school boys attempted video game and have been done more than one year. The half of them spent one hour or more on video game once.

Content Analysis on Career Education Included in Family Life Area of Middle School 「Technology·Home Economics」 Textbooks (중학교 기술·가정 교과서 가정생활 분야의 진로교육내용 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the contents of middle school technology and home economics textbooks(family life area) that reflect the school career education goals and achievement standards in the 2015 revision of the Technology and Home Economics curriculum. Five different textbooks on middle school technology and home economics written based on the 2015 curriculum were selected and the school career education goals and achievement standards developed by the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training (2021) were used as a framework for textbook analysis. The results are as follows. First, the units that cover career education contents the most were 'life design and career choice(n=87)', 'developmental characteristics of adolescents(n=36)', and 'low birth rate, aging society, and work and family balance(n=31)'. The major contents of career education covered in technology and home economics textbooks(family life area) were 'search for various professionals(24.30%)', 'exploration of the changes in the future society(22.74%)', and 'exploration of the changes in the job world(18.66%)'. Thus it was found that the goals and achievement standards of school career education are evenly reflected in the middle school technology and home economics textbooks(family life area) based on the 2015 curriculum.

A Study on Interest and Application Ability in Meal Management of the middle School Students (남.녀 중학생의 식생활관리 단원에 대한 관심도 및 실행 능력)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of interest and application ability in meal management chapters of the middle school students, and to provide basic informations for the improvements of Home Economics curriculum and teaching projects. The subjects were 555 middle school students(275 males, 280 females) in Chunchon area, Kangwon-do. Research data were collected by means of the questionnaire and statistically analyzed by frequency, percentage, standard deviation, t-test, F-test and correlation analysis using SPSS/win. The results of this study were summarized as follows: There were significant differences in the degree of interest and application ability according to gender, school years, home economics scholastic achievements, and father's role in preparing meal. The degree of interest and application ability was significantly higher in female than male. First grade students showed more interest and higher application ability than the third year. In general, the higher home economics scholastic achievement was, the higher the degree of interest and application ability was. The more father's role was in preparing meal, the higher student's degree of interest and application ability was. There was significant correlation between the degree of interest and the degree of application ability.(r=0.853, p< .001)

The Effects of Practical Problem-Based Home Economics Instruction (PPBHEI) on Middle School Students' Creativity: Focusing on the Content on "Clothing Management and Recycling" (실천적 문제 중심 가정과 수업이 중학생의 창의성에 미치는 효과: '의복 관리와 재활용' 내용 요소를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to test the effects of Practical Problem-Based Home Economics Instruction (PPBHEI) on middle school students' creativity, focusing on the content on "clothing management and recycling." This study carried out quasi-experimental research with an independent variable of PPBHEI and a dependent variable of creativity. The experiment was based on a sample of 62 (31 in each group) second grade students in the Cheongju area over four class hours. ANCOVA was performed to examine pre-test and post-test differences between the experimental group and the control group. The results showed that PPBHEI did not improve the level of creativity but improved the level of creative motivation among the sub-elements of creativity (creative thinking, creative tendency, creative motivation). In particular, PPBHEI improved the level of independence in creative tendency, intrinsic motivation, and diligence in creative motivation. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that PPBHEI is effective in improving independence, intrinsic motivation, and diligence in respect of middle school students'creativity.

  • The Purpose of this study was to develop a lesson proposal about the aging for 7th glade middle school students in the class of home economics. According to this Purpose a lesson Proposal about the aging which contains 1) the nature of generation gap and generational conflicts and problem solving strategies. 2) knowledges about physical. emotional. and social changes of older adults and the process of aging. 3) informations of various order adult-related Professions was devised This proposal will be helpful for younger people to understand older adult much more and to Prepare the adolescents' future life as an older people. It is expected to have effects on decrease the generation gap and conflicts between older and younger people based upon mutual understanding. And it is anticipated that this Proposal will be valuable for many adolescents to have provision about future senior citizen's society and various older adults-related professions .

Factors Associated with Middle Managers' Work Motivation: Evidence from SMEs in Vietnam

  • This study presents an exploratory investigation of SMEs in Vietnam to understand the impact of personal-level factors on middle managers' work motivation and the moderating role of work environment. A survey of 450 middle managers (MMs) in 150 Hanoi's SMEs was conducted. The findings of this research showed a significant positive impact of Achievement (ACHV), Recognition (RECOG), and Responsibility (RESP) on work motivation of MMs under the investigation. Furthermore, the result indicated that the work environment affects the relationship between personal-level factors and work motivation of participants. Consequently, both work environment improvement and strategies related to personal-level factors need to be taken into consideration. Especially, Recognition and transparency in Responsibility are appreciated in organizations with a low level of work environment satisfaction. However, there were no indications that Participation (PAR) and Communication (CMM) have a considerable impact on work motivation of respondents, being neither low level nor high level of work environment satisfaction. Based on the findings, recommendations are suggested for Vietnam's SMEs to improve work motivation of MMs, by (i) developing standards with emphasis on their achievement, (ii) paying attention to organizational culture focusing on the responsibility of this managerial level, and (iii) building an adequate incentive system, especially non-financial incentives.

A Study on the Fitness of Content of Experiment and Practice of Home Economics in Middle School (중학교 가정과 실험.실습 내용의 적정성에 관한 조사연구)

  • This thesis has two objects: Firstly, the arrangement of basic data and formulating a system of experiment and practice in home economics and Secondly, the groping the way of improving the problems raised in the home economics education spot. A questinaire is used as the research tools for the fitness of content, of experiment and practice in the home economics and SPSS/PC(sup)+ and Scheffe Test are used for investigation. The results are as follows. 1. Students recognize the importance of experiment & practice more than the teacher. In the type of middle school teachers engaged in the girl’s middle school recognize the importance of experiment & practice more than those of coeducation middle school. 2. The percent of the school which executes over the 50% of experiment & practice in the contents of text book is 70%. The most numerous in the sphere of guiding is ‘seperate practice of student’. The reason of not executing the experiment & practice are ‘the concentration of the theory education’and ‘the lack of equipment and tools’3. Practice room for cooking was mostly established, but practice room of sewing was established only 5.6%. The contents of textbook for clothing sphere can be executed by using the equipment & tools of school only 9.2%. 4. 40% of the students feel that the content level of experiment & practice is difficult. Most of the students feel that the content level of experiment & practice, especially in the sphere of clothing, in unproper on the level fitness of contents by grade. 5. Most of the students assent on the positive effect for the degree and the most important cause for its not contributing to the everday life is the lack of experiment & practice in school. 6. Most of the students feels positively on the interest degree of content and the students who though much of the experment & practice feels positively on the interest degree of content.
