This research purposed to study a structural effect on curtailment of upper shear wall in frame-shear wall structures, using MIDAS-Gen. In this study, the analysis variables were the story number of curtailment of upper shear wall, change of column section in every 2 stories and change of shear wall thickness in every 2 stories. In order to analyse a structural effect on curtailment of upper shear wall in frame-shear wall structures, we studied the distribution of shear force and overturning moment according to curtailment of shear wall, the inflection point of shear wall from shear force/overturning moment and the lateral stiffness. The results of study proposed the quantitative influence that the curtailment of upper shear wall in frame-shear wall structures had on the structural performance such as lateral stiffness. Furthermore, it is verified that the results of study can be very helpful in catching the materials on the structure design for a reasonable frame-shear wall system.

This study purposed to investigate the optimal outrigger location in tall building with cap truss after a structural schematic design of 80 stories building was performed by using MIDAS-Gen. In this paper, the main parameters of structural analysis were the outrigger location and stiffness of main structural elements (outrigger, exterior column, shear wall etc). In order to search the optimal outrigger position in high-rise building with cap truss, we analysed and examined the lateral displacement of top floor which is one of the very important considering factors of tall building structural design. The paper results indicated that the outrigger location and the stiffness of main structural elements such as outrigger, exterior column and shear wall had an effect on the optimal outrigger location. And it is verified that the study results provided the basic engineering data for fixing the most optimal outrigger location for minimizing the lateral displacement of tall building.

The purpose of this paper is to search the optimal location of offset outrigger system in high-rise building after a structural schematic design of 80 stories building was conducted, making use of MIDAS-Gen. In this research, the key factors of analysis study were column stiffness, outrigger position in plan and outrigger location in height. For the aim of finding out the optimum position of offset outrigger system in tall building, we studied the lateral displacement in top floor which is the very essential variables in the structural design of high-rise building. The results of study showed that the column stiffness, the outrigger location in plan and outrigger location in height had an effect on the optimal position of outrigger system. Also, it is indicated that the research results can be useful in acquiring the structural design materials for seeking the optimum position of offset outrigger system in tall building.
Recently in Korea, researches on seismic analyses for high-rise buildings in a large city have been increasing because earthquakes have occurred. However, the ground conditions are not included in most of seismic researches and analyses on a high-rise building. Also the influence of the predominant period of a seismic wave is not considered in reality. Therefore, in this study, the influence of the predominant period of a seismic wave on the dynamic behavior of high-rise buildings was analyzed based on the complete system model which can consider the grounds. For this purpose, 2D dynamic analyses based on a linear time history analysis were performed using MIDAS GTS NX, a finite-element based program. Dynamic behavior was analyzed in terms of horizontal displacements, drift ratios, bending stresses, and building weak zones. As a result, in overall, the dynamic response of a high-rise building become bigger as the predominant period of a seismic wave become longer. It was also found that the predominant period had a greater influence than other parameters, ground conditions and peak ground acceleration.
Purpose: The risk assessment for earthquakes was conducted in accordance with the current design standard (KBC2016) for the Coalescer facility, which is a major facility of energy storage facilities. Method: The risk assessment for earthquakes was conducted in accordance with the current design standard (KBC2016) for the Coalescer facility, which is a major facility of energy storage facilities. Result: In this study, by statically loading earthquake loads and evaluating the level of collapse prevention of special-class structures, facility managers can easily recognize and evaluate the risk level, and this analysis result can be applied to future facility risk management. Earthquake analysis was performed so that. Conclusion: As a result of analyzing the Coalescer facility according to the current design standard KBC2016, the stress ratio of the main supporting members was found to be up to 4.7%. Therefore, the members supporting Coalescer were interpreted as being safe against earthquakes with a reproducibility period of 2400 years that may occur in Korea.
Recently, earthquakes have occurred in our country and seismic stability of high-rise buildings in large cities is being a growing interest and thus the related studies have been increased. Also the grounds are considered indirectly in most of seismic designs and analyses and seismic researches based on 3D dynamic analysis are insufficient. In this study, therefore, 2D and 3D dynamic analyses were performed based on the SSI complete model including grounds and the behavior was compared and analyzed. For dynamic modeling, linear time history analyses were performed by using MIDAS GTS NX. For this purpose, a high-rise building was assumed to be constructed on top of the bedrock and surrounded by a surface layer. A sensitivity analysis was performed with the selected parameters. The dynamic behavior was compared and analyzed in terms of horizontal displacements, drift ratios, bending stresses, and weak parts. In most cases, 2D dynamic behavior was calculated to be larger than 3D's and thus it shows more conservative results with increasing number and size of weak parts.

In this study, the seismic fragility curve according to the boundary conditions is created for a two-pylon concrete cable-stayed bridge, and the effect of the boundary conditions on the seismic fragility of the target bridge is evaluated. An analysis model for the target bridge is constructed using Midas Civil, and a nonlinear time history analysis is performed by applying the fiber element, concrete and rebar material models. The boundary conditions between the pylon and the stiffened girder are classified into four types: rigid, unconstrained, pot bearing, and seismic isolation bearing, and the seismic fragility curves are created for each boundary condition. The plastic hinge section of the pylon, the connection part, and the cable are selected as weak members, and the earthquake vulnerability curve is created for them. As a result of the analysis, it is found that the seismic isolation bearing model shows the lowest damage probability in the pylon and the connection part, and the seismic fragility of the cable is less affected by the boundary conditions than other members.

The research intended to understand the lateral behavior in core and offset outrigger system. To achieve this goal, a structural analysis and design of 70 stories building was carried out by making use of MIDAS-Gen. And the primary parameters of this analysis were the stiffness of outrigger and the location of outrigger in plan. On the basis of the analysis results, we analyzed the lateral behavior of structural elements such as slab, outrigger and exterior columns in core and offset outrigger. In this analysis research, it is indicated that the stiffness of outrigger and the outrigger location in plan had an any impact on lateral behavior in outrigger system of tall building. Specially, slab stresses in core outrigger system were highly distributed in the slab near the outrigger system to connect shear walls and exterior columns while slab stresses in offset outrigger system were highly distributed in the slab between the outrigger system and shear walls. Also the study results can be of significant help to obtaining the engineering data for the reasonable structure design of the high-rise outrigger system.

This paper describes the result of study on measurement of displacement of structure by means of non-contacting method, close-range digital photogrammetry using digital camera. To apply close-range digital photogrammetry to displacement measurement of structure, correction of lens distortion that interferes geometrical analysis has been carried out and then measuring displacement was performed on load regulated-rahmen. For enhanced applicability of displacement measurement, MIDAS which is a structural analysis program was used for modeling and the result was taken from comparative analysis. As a result of the study, it is showed that close-range digital photogrammetry could supplement several weaknesses of LVDT and cable displacement meter and, especially, economy in the perspective of measuring time could be realized. Close-range digital photogrammetry using digital camera can be applied to the area where requires visual analysis such as 3D modeling of structure, profile replication of measurement of structure as well as measurement of displacement of structure.

In this study, virtual reality software was developed to support the generation of an analysis model of a Hanok and to increase the use of the completed analysis model. The structural analysis model of the Hanok was generated using midas Gen, a general-purpose structural analysis software. After converting it into a text-based input file, the developed software stores the data necessary for the examination of the analysis model. Then, in the developed virtual reality software, the three-dimensional analysis model of the Hanok can be visualized in various ways and the related data can be shown by selecting a specific member. Through this process, errors in the analysis model can be identified and corrected to build a complete analysis model. The developed software was applied to three Hanok cases to verify its applicability and effectiveness. The software is expected to be used in other fields besides the structural field.
