Effects of an Agro-Healing Activity Program on the Physiological Condition of Adults with Chronic Metabolic Diseases

  • This study was conducted to find out the effects of agro-healing activities and strolling on the physiological conditions of patients with chronic metabolic diseases. A total of 11 subjects participated in agro-healing activities, and their average age was 49.6±11.3. Changes in their salivary cortisol were compared and analyzed before and after participating in the agro-healing activity program, and it was found that the stress hormone decreased after participating in the program. Differences in brain wave between before and after participating in agro-healing activities and strolling were measured, and the ratio of alpha to high beta (RAHB) of subjects increased in most of the measured points after participating in agro-healing activities. In addition, the increase in the value in the temporal lobe (T3) that controls mortor skills and occipital lobe (O2) that controls visual functions indicates that the activities were effective in improving relaxation and stability. The relative low beta (RLB) power spectrum of subjects also statistically significantly decreased in the right occipital lobe (O2) that controls visual functions, the relative mid beta (RMB) and relative high beta (RHB) power spectrum decreased in the left temporal lobe (T3) and the right occipital lobe (O2). These results indicate that the activities were effective in improving relaxation under no stress and tension. The systolic and diastolic blood pressure of subjects after participating in agro-healing activities decreased from the prehypertension level to the normal level. These results indicate that horticultural activities and visual elements in healing farms, such as agro-healing activities and strolling, have positive impacts on patients with chronic metabolic diseases accompanied with diabetes or high blood pressure by increasing the brain activity and psycho-physiological conditions of participants.

동추금침(東樞金鍼)에 의한 비침습적 백회혈(百會穴) 자극이 뇌파에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Non-ivasive Baihui($GV_{20}$) Point Stimulus by 'Dong Chu Gold Chim' on Electroencephalogram)

  • Background : Recently a discussion about Qi including a study about the effect or the theory of acupuncture is getting prevailing in various angles. In most of studies about acupuncture stimulus, 'Filiform acupuncture'(毫鍼) is used. A study about Nine kinds of acupuncture(九鍼), except 'Filiform acupuncture'(毫鍼) has not been reported yet, and there is no study about using a special acupuncture made for controling Qi either. Objectives : 'Dong Chu Gold Chim(DCG-chim, 東樞金鍼)' can be used for patients who are scared of a pain because it is a medical Qi-gong tool and non-invasive stimulus one. To assess a effect of Qi-gong operation using DCG-chim objectively Methods : The present study was performed to elucidate the effects of DCG-chim stimulation of an acupuncture point Baihui($GV_{20}$) on the Electroencephalogram(EEG). Twenty healthy subject were treated with DCG-chim one time accompanied by the light and vertical pressure and EEG were measured during five minutes for three times (before, during and after treatment). The EEG results of DCG-chim treatment were compared with those of 'Filiform acupuncture(毫鍼)'. Results : EEG power spectra changed significantly after both kind of acupuncture stimulation. Significant increase of $\alpha$ wave and decrease of $\beta$ wave were observed but interestingly, Mid-$\beta$ and SMR of $\beta$ wave which mean the state of concentration were increased with statistically significant. According to these results, DCG-chim stimulation of Baihui($GV_{20}$) seems to lead to relaxation with antianxietic effect and improvement of concentration at the same time. Conclusions : It would be expected that the doctor can apply DCG-chim for treating anxiety, tension, symptom caused by stress and also can use it clinically for patients who have needlphopia or children as a non-invasive procedure. It is suggested that additional studies about the effect of DCG-chim on other acupuncture points and comparison study about the effect of DCG-chim with those of the finger-pressure treatment using other tool should be done in the future.

정신기능과 관련된 경혈에 대한 침 자극이 인체에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Acupuncture Stimulation on Acupoints Related to Mind)

  • Objectives : This study aimed to understand the influence of acupuncture on the human body by comparing changes within human bodies before and after people in normal health are treated with acupuncture at the acupoints HT7 and PC9, which are related to mental functions. Methods : The study was performed from January 3, 2008 to March 5, 2008 on 60 healthy males and females in their 20s. HRV, EEG, skin conductance response, respiration and peripheral skin temperature were measured for 5 minutes before acupuncture simulation was applied to the acupoints HT7 and PC9. During 20 minutes of acupuncture treatment, the same items were continuously measured to determine whether there had been any changes, and they were then measured for 5 minutes after the removal of the acupuncture needles in order to implement a comparative analysis. Results : 1. The HRV measurement showed that in the course of before, during and after acupuncture stimulation, heart rate, HF and HF norm decreased significantly (P<0.05) at HT7. LF, LF norm, and LF/HF ratio increased significantly (P>0.05), while heart rate, HF and HF norm decreased significantly (P<0.05) at PC9. 2. Skin conductance response increased significantly (P<0.05) at PC9 during and after the acupuncture simulation periods, compared with the pre acupuncture period. 3. the peripheral skin temperature increased significantly (P<0.05) both at HT7 and PC9 in the course of before, during and after acupuncture stimulation. 4. Compared with the pre-acupuncture period, respiration rate increased both at HT7 and at PC9 during and after the acupuncture simulation periods, but not in a statistically significance. 5. In the EEG measurement, when compared with the pre-acupuncture period at HT7, mid ${\beta}$ wave decreased significantly (P<0.05) during acupuncture treatment. Compared with the measurements during acupuncture treatment at PC9, low ${\beta}$ wave increased significantly (P<0.05) after the acupuncture needles were removed. Conclusions : When acupuncture treatment is applied at the acupoints HT7 and PC9, the activation of parasympathetic nerves decreases and the activation of sympathetic nerves increases in the HRV measurement. It was determined that PC9 makes the sympathetic nerves become highly activated in a skin conduction response. The effect of stability in the brain wave seemed to bo shown at HT7 than PC9.

청소년의 집중력이 척추건강에 미치는 영향: 인지강도에 의해 조절된 스마트폰 과몰입의 매개효과 (The effect of attention on spinal health of adolescents: The mediating effect of smartphone overindulgence moderated by cognitive strength)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to find out the mediated effects of smartphone overindulgence in the relationship between attention and spinal health of adolescents and to find out how cognitive strength moderates these relationships. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: All subjects measured attention, cognition strength, spinal angle, and smartphone overindulgence by measuring the ratio of SMR and mid-beta power to the power of the brain wave, amplitude variation of Cognitive Gamma-Peak, forward slope angle of the cervical spine, and the scale of diagnosis of smartphone addiction. Results: As a result, it shows a significant correlation between Attention, spinal angle, cognitive strength, and smartphone overindulgence(p<.05). In addition, attention was significantly mediated on the spinal angle through smartphone overindulgence(p<.001), and cognitive strength was significantly mediated in relation to smartphone overindulgence and spinal angle(p<.05). Conclusion: This result indicates that the mediation effect of overindulgence of a Smartphone is mediated according to its cognitive strength in relation to its effect of attention on the spine angle.

제초제 포장지 색상이 소비자들의 뇌파에 미치는 영향 (Brain Wave Response to Bottle Color of Herbicides and Non-selective Herbicides in Korea)

  • The colors of packaging of herbicides and non-selective herbicides on the market in Korea are defined as brown and red, respectively, according to the notification of RDA. The present study aimed to understand consumer's electroencephalographic (EEG) response when looking at brown and red colors of herbicide and non-selective herbicide packaging papers. The EEG cap was placed on the scalp of each participant (men and women, 10 to 20 years old) and white (control) - brown - white - red colors were sequentially displayed for 5 seconds using the computer monitor. The EEG was measured and statistical analysis was performed using SPSS. For the brown color of the herbicide, men showed a decrease in concentration and a distracting response due to a decrease in the ratio of mid beta to theta (RMT) and the spectral edge of frequency (SEF90). In women, an increase in the ratio of SMR to theta (RSMT) and the spectral edge frequency 50% of the alpha (ASEF) was observed in different brain regions and these EEG changes may enhance the relaxation, stabilization and awakening states of the brain. For the red color of the non-selective herbicide, ASEF increased psychological stability in men. In women, a decrease in absolute high beta (AHB) may associate with a decrease in attention state of the brain. Overall data of the present study clearly revealed that the colors of two herbicides showed significantly different EEG response and gender difference.

해역별 최적 해빈 안정화 공법 선정 Platform 개발을 위한 기초연구-맹방해변 이송모드별 년 표사수지를 중심으로 (Preliminary Study on the Development of a Platform for the Selection of Optimal Beach Stabilization Measures against the Beach Erosion - Centering on the Yearly Sediment Budget of Mang-Bang Beach)

  • 해빈 안정화를 위한 구조물 설계 시 주 표사이송 모드와 모드별 년 표사 이송량에 관한 정보는 상당한 공학적 가치를 지닌다. 이러한 시각에서 본고에서는 현재 상당한 침식이 진행되고 있는 맹방해변의 년 표사 이송량을 산출하였다. 횡단표사의 경우 Bagnold(1963)의 에너지 모형을 확장한 Bailard(1981)의 모형을 활용하였으며, 연안 표사량은 각 해안에서 가용한 파랑에너지 유입률에 의해 결과 되는 것으로 해석하였다. Bailard(1981)의 횡단표사모형 적용에 필요한 유속 적률은 먼저 맹방해변에서 관측된 파랑자료로부터 출현 가능한 총 71개의 파랑주기 복합사상을 선정하고, 선정된 복합사상을 대상으로 수행된 맹방해변에서의 비선형 천수과정 수치모의 결과로부터 산출하였다. 이 과정에서 파랑모형으로는 주파수 영역 Boussinesq Eq.(Frelich and Guza, 1984)을 활용하였으며, 모의결과 Bailard(1981)의 연구와는 달리 유속 적률과 Irribaren NO. 간에 존재하는 뚜렷한 상관관계를 확인할 수 있었다. 산출 결과 맹방해변 평균 방위 ${\beta}=41.6^{\circ}$의 경우 북서진하는 연안표사가 우월하며 그 양은 년 $125,000m^3/m$에 달하였다. 북서진하는 연안표사와 남동진하는 연안표사가 균형을 이루는 null point는 ${\beta}=47^{\circ}$에 위치하며, 횡단표사의 경우 4월부터 10월 중순까지는 연안방향으로의 퇴적이 점진적으로 진행되나 10월 말과 삼월에 단발적으로 발생하는 고파랑에 의해 침식되는 것으로 판단된다. 또한 맹방해변의 연안표사 장미도(littoral drift rose)를 산출하였으며, 그 결과 맹방해변의 방위가 일시적으로 null point의 방위보다 큰 경우 남동진하는 연안표사가 우월하며, 방위가 일시적으로 null point의 방위보다 작은 경우 북서진하는 연안표사가 우월한 경향을 확인하였으며, 이는 맹방해변은 일시적으로 침식되더라도 스스로 복원할 수 있는 능력을 지닌 안정적인 해변임을 의미한다.

우리나라에 적합한 열파의 정의와 그 시.공간적 발생패턴 (A Definition of Korean Heat Waves and Their Spatio-temporal Patterns)

  • 본 연구는 우리나라 실정에 맞는 여름철 강한 무더위인 열파(Heat Wave)를 정의하고, 각 강도별 장기간(1973-2006) 평균적인 열파 발생빈도의 시공간적 분포 특징을 밝히고자 하였다. 고온다습한 한반도 여름몬순 기후하에서 체감온도와 사망자의 관계를 분석하여, 최소 $32.5^{\circ}C$$35.5^{\circ}C,\;38.5^{\circ}C,\;41.5^{\circ}C$의 일최고 열지수(Heat Index)가 3일간 지속되었을 때를 더운기간(Hot Spell) 및 열파(Heat Wave), 강한열파(Strong Heat Wave), 매우강한열파(Extreme Heat Wave) 발생일로 정의하였다. 이를 바탕으로 모든 단계별 열파 연평균 발생빈도를 살펴보면, 해발고도가 높은 고지대나 바다에 인접한 도서지역에서는 낮게 나타나는 반면, 주요 대하천에 인접한 내륙 저지대에서는 연평균 열파 발생빈도 뿐만 아니라 연구기간중 연 최다 열파 발생일수도 장마휴지기(7월 하순-8월 초순)를 중심으로 높게 나타난다 연구기간(1973-2006) 동안 각 단계별 열파일 발생빈도에는 뚜렷한 변화가 없었으나, 더운기간 (Hot Spell)의 최고 발생빈도를 기록한 연도는 1970년대에, 열파(Heat Waves)와 강한열파(Strong Heat Wave)의 최고 발생빈도를 기록한 연도는 1990년대에 각 집중되어 나타났다. 한편, 우리나라의 열파 발생시에는 기온 이외에도 습도의 부가적인 영향이 $4.3-9.5^{\circ}C$ 정도 열파(Heat Wave)의 강도를 높이고 있음을 알 수 있다. 이러한 연구 결과들은 우리나라에 맞는 국가 열파 경보 체계를 구축하는데 기초자료로써 활용될 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.커마 세기를 구할 수 있었다. 이러한 물 흡수선량을 통한 Ir-192 선원의 검교정 방법들은 미국의학물리학회(AAPM) 보고서 TG-43에서 권고한 흡수선량 계산 알고리즘에 바로 적용할 수 있는 것으로 사료된다. 성장 억제 작용은 G0/Gl기를 지체시켜 암세포 증식을 억제하고 apoptosis에 의해 암세포를 사멸시키는 항암 활성을 나타내는 것으로 확인되었으며, 특허 AO가 AG보다 현저한 활성을 보였다. 더 나아가 아가리쿠스 $\beta$-glucan (AG)과 올리고당류 (AO)는 항암 활성을 가진 대체 의약 소재로 개발될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.eruginosa rhlI의 경우 단일배양보다 혼합배양시 최고 약 40배, P. aeruginosa lasI의 경우 최고 약 250배 그리고 S. aureus luxS의 경우는 단일배양보다 혼합배양시 최고 약 5배 이상 mRNA 발현량이 증가하였다. 또한 세 균주의 4가지 유전자 중 P. aeruginosa의 rhlI와 lasI의 mRNA가 가장 많은 양으로 발현됨을 확인하였다.석되었다. 6. 연 강수량이 17.4% 증가해 월별 평균 강수량 변화가 가장 큰 시나리오 Al은 연 유출량이 24.6% 증가하고, 유사량과 TN, IP 부하량은 각각 60.1%, 14.4%, 27.1%증가하는 것으로 나타났으며, 이에 비하여 연 강수량 증가가 2.5%로 가장 작은 시나리오 B1의 연 유출량 변화는 -0.4% 감소하는 것으로 나타났고, 유사량과 TN, TP 부하량은 각각 14.6%, 3.0%, 7.2% 증가하는 것으로 모의되었다. 7. 강우 발생 일수 변화를 가정한 시나리오에 대한 모의 결과, 연강우일수가 약 10일 감소한 A1-1, A2-1, B1-1, B2-1의 경우, 강우 일수 감소 이전과 연 유출량 변화는 거의
