  • In this paper, we deal with EMI Analysis on Microstrip with Defected Ground plane. Specially, we investigate reflection, transmission, crosstalk, radiated emission on Microstrip with Defected Ground plane structure. And investigates undesired effects on various defected ground plane such as ground with split, slot, short end and open end gap. To analyze reflection, transmission and crosstalk of microstrip with defected ground plane, we used concept of the microstrip to slot line transition model. Besides, investigate radiated emission using FDTD Commercial tools such as CST MW

  • Parameters of a microstrip patch antenna such as the resonant frequency, radiation conductance, and the bandwidth are calculated. The rectangular microstrip patch antenna fed by a microstrip transmission line is fabricated and its resonant frequency, radiation pattern, and input voltage standing wave ratio are measured. The measured resonant frequency for 13.0mm$\times$9.7mm copper clad woven PTFE/glass laminate plate is 9.06Ghz, where the calculative is 9.00Ghz. And the measured vswr shows that the bandwidth of the antenna is 225MHz for vswr less then 2.0 which the calculated quality factor of the patch gives the bandwidth OF 280ghZ. The measured radiation pattern for 5 element as well as 4 element patch array shows less then 4dB deviation in the first side lobes from the designed values for both E and H plane pattern. This diviation is believed to be the power division errors of the power divider.

  • 본 논문에서는 도허티 전력증폭기의 입력과 출력 단에 PBG와 같은 특성을 보이는 새로운 구조의 커플러를 적용하여 높은 효율을 유지하면서 선형성을 개선하도록 하였다. 제안된 새로운 구조의 커플러는 일반적인 커플러 구조에 2차 고조파 성분을 저지하도록 내부에 주기적인 격자 셀을 삽입함으로써 큰 전파 상수 값을 가진다. 주기적인 격자 셀은 일반적인 대역저지 필터의 LC공진회로와 같은 성질을 나타내고, 높은 등가 커패시턴스 때문에, 커플러의 크기를 줄일 수 있다. 이러한 구조의 커플러는 일반적인 커플러에 비해 면적이 30% 정도 효과적으로 줄일 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 높은 2차 고조파 성분을 저지하는 특성을 나타낸다. 새로운 커플러 구조를 적용한 도허티 전력증폭기의 3차 혼변조 왜곡 ($IMD_3$)은 CDMA 응용에서 -31.16 dBc이다. 제안된 커플러 구조가 없는 도허티 전력증폭기와 비교했을 때, PAE는 유지하면서 $IMD_3$은 -6 dBc 개선되었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 MMIC상에서 온칩용 수동소자 제작을 위해서, 주기적으로 배치된 용량성 소자를 이용한 단파장 전송선로를 제안하였다. 제안된 PACD(periodically arrayed capacitive devices) 선로 구조는 기존의 마이크로스트립 선로에 비해 매우 짧은 선로파장 특성을 보였다. PACD 선로 구조는 주파수 5GHz에서 기존의 마이크로스트립 선로 파장의 8%의 파장단축 효과를 보였고, PPGM구조의 선로 파장의 38%의 파장단축 효과를 나타내었다. 이러한 PACD선로 구조는 MMIC상에서 온칩용 수동소자 제작에 유용한 특성으로 판단된다.

  • In this paper, we propose Doherty amplifier with proper drain bias line. By $\lambda$/4 microstrip line, IMD is eliminated. Also output power of amplifier is reduced in wanted bandwidth. For linearity improvement, we design drain bias with narrow $\lambda$/4 microstrip line. We observe that gain characteristics improve 1dB and $3^{rd}/5^{th}$ IMD characteristics reduce 5dB/10dB.

  • Step discontinuities of microstrip lines are analyzed using the mode-matching technique based on the well-known waveguide model. Including higher-order modes, the generalized scattering matrices are obtained. Asymmetrical step discontinuities as well as symmetrical step discontinuities are analyzed. The resonance characteristics of microstrip patches are calculated by cascading two microstrip step discontinuities through a uniform microstrip line. Experimental results agree well with theroretical ones.

  • In this paper we propose low-impedance and miniaturized a wilkinson power divider on MMIC passive component which was fabricated by a novel microstrip line structure employing periodically perforated ground metal (PPGM). The novel microstrip line structure showed much lower impedance and shorter guided-wavelength than conventional one. Using the novel microstrip line with periodically perforated ground metal, a miniaturized 17 ${\Omega}$ power divider was fabricated. The line width of the power divider was 20 ${\mu}m$, and the size of it was 0.110 $mm^2$, which is 21 % of conventional one. The power divider exhibited good RF performances from 10 to 20 GHz.

Compact Microstrip-Fed Square Loop Antenna for DTV Applications

  • A design method for a compact square loop antenna fed by a microstrip (MS) line for indoor digital television (DTV) applications is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of a square loop, circular sectors, and an MS line. The square loop combined with circular sectors is printed on one side of a substrate, and a $75-{\Omega}$ MS line is printed on the other side. The circular sectors are used as a wideband balun or transition to connect the MS line and the square loop. A prototype of the proposed square loop antenna operating in the DTV band (470-806 MHz) is designed and fabricated on an FR4 substrate. Experimental results show that the proposed antenna has the desired impedance characteristics in the frequency band of 464-1,220 MHz (89.8%) for a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of <2 covering the DTV band, and a broadside gain of 0.8-3.3 dBi in the DTV band.

Microstrip Bandpass Filter Using Stepped-Impedance Coupled-Line Hairpin Resonators with Enhanced Stopband Performance

  • In this paper, we propose a microstrip bandpass filter using stepped-impedance coupled-line hairpin resonators. The stepped-impedance coupled-line hairpin resonator has extended harmonic suppression in comparison with a conventional hairpin resonator due to transmission zero and the movement of harmonic frequencies resulting from the stepped-impedance characteristic. A high-pass type impedance/admittance inverter is employed in order to improve the lower frequency skirt characteristics of the passband. A 4-pole bandpass filter is designed and fabricated at 1.8 GHz. The measured results show the excellent attenuation performance at the stopband which is greater than 30 dB up to 10 GHz.

  • In this paper, we present the results of the design and fabrication of the VCO(Voltage controlled Oscillator) using RF circuit simulator GENESYS and electromagnetic field simulator EMpower Frequency range is fabricated VCO is 850 MHz ~ 950 MHz, which is used Colpitts Circuit. the fabricated VCO is consisted of resonator, oscillator and MSL(Microstrip Line) is used in LC tuning circuit.(operated by negative feedback) MSL(Microstrip Line), Varactor(Plastic package), low noise TR(SOT-23), chip inductor(1608), chip capacitor(1005), chip resistance(1005). 1005 type is used for sample fabrication of VCO. In the fabrication process, circuit pattern is screen printed on the alumina substrates of over 99.9% purity. Center frequency of the sample VCO is 850MHz at $V_T=1.5V$, while the simulated value was 1.0GHz at $V_T=1.5V$. Variable frequency range of the sample is 860~950MHz in contrast to the 1068~1100MHz of the simulated values.
