The Effect of Phosphatidylcholine and Deoxycholate Compound Injections to the Localized Adipose Tissue: An Experimental Study with a Murine Model

  • Background Phosphatidylcholine (PPC) and deoxycholate (DCA) compound has been recently used for the purpose of partial lipolysis and is valued for its efficacy and lower invasiveness compared to liposuction and dermolipectomy used previously. In this article, the authors discuss the efficacy of the PPC dissolved in DCA via an experimental rat study model, along with suggesting a useful animal experimental model for the study of adipose tissue and lipolysis. Methods Bilateral inguinal fat pads of an experimental rat were elevated with the deep inferior epigastric vessel as the sole vascular pedicle. Normal saline was injected on one side as a control group and a PPC and DCA compound was injected on the other side. After 4 days, the rats were euthanized for microscopic tissue examination. The pathology was scored by a sem-iquantitative system in 4 categories: normal fat amount, fat necrosis, inflammatory activity, and stage of fibrosis. A Wilcoxon signed-rank test powered by SPSS packet program was used for statistical analysis and to determine significance. Results Microscopic examination was performed on the obtained samples, and the experimental data of all four categories showed significant histologic differences compared to the control group. All of the data also showed statistical significance by the Wilcoxon signed-rank test (P<0.01). Conclusions In the inguinal fat pad rat model, the control group and the experimental group had a differed significantly in the amount of normal fat tissue, inflammation, necrosis, and fibrosis. We recommend the rat inguinal fat pad model used in this study, as it is likely to be useful in related research.

저변성퇴적암 사면에서 지질특성이 차별풍화에 미치는 영향 (Effect of geological characteristics on differential weathering of low-graded metasedimentary rock slopes)

  • 본 논문에서는 천매암을 중심으로 저변성퇴적암류에 속하는 암석을 대상으로 암석학적 특징과 풍화도의 상관성에 대하여 분석하였다. 현장 지질조사를 통하여 암석의 풍화도를 결정하였고, 구성암석의 강도 값을 추정하기 위하여 슈미트해머 테스트를 실시하였다. 9개 시료의 현미경 박편 관찰을 통하여 주구성광물의 부피비와 엽리의 간격을 측정하였다. 암석시료의 현미경 분석 결과에 의하면 풍화도가 낮을수록 풍화에 강한 석영성분이 많고, 풍화도가 높을수록 풍화에 약한 운모성분이 많은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 엽리 간격이 좁을수록 강도는 낮고 풍화도는 높은 것으로 나타났다.

구연산의 적용시간에 따른 임플란트 표면변화에 대한 주사전자현미경적 연구 (Scanning Electron Microscopic Study of the Effects of Citric Acid on the Change of Implant Surface According to Application Time)

  • The present study was performed to evaluate the effect of citric acid on the change of implant surface microstructure according to application time. Implants with pure titanium machined surface, titanium plasma-sprayed surface, and sand-blasted, large grit, acid etched surface were utilized. Implant surface was rubbed with pH 1 citric acid for $\frac{1}{2}$ min., 1 min., 1 $\frac{1}{2}$ min., 2 min., and 3min, respeaively in the test group and implant surface was not treated in the control group. Then, the specimens were processed for scanning electron microscopic observation. The following results were obtained. 1. Both test and control group showed a few shallow grooves and ridges in pure titanium machined surface implants. There were not significant differences between two groups. 2. In titanium plasma-sprayed surfaces, round or amorphous particles were deposited irregularly. The irregularity of titanium plasma-sprayed surfaces conditioned with pH 1 citric acid was lessened and the cracks were increased relative to the application time of pH 1 citric acid. 3. Sand-blasted, large grit, acid etched surfaces showed the macro/micro double roughness. The application of pH 1 citric acid didn't change the characteristics of the sand-blasted, large grit, acid etched surfaces. In conclusion, the application of pH 1 citric acid to titanium plasma-sprayed surface is improper. And pure titanium machined surface implants and sand-blasted, large grit, acid etched surface implants can he treated with pH 1 citric acid for peri-implantitis treatment if the detoxification of these surfaces could be evaluated.

안동 봉황사 삼세불 제작에 사용된 섬유의 동정 (Identification of Fibers of Samsebul (Triple Buddha Statues) at Bonghwangsa in Andong)

  • 안동 봉황사의 삼세불(三世佛)은 대웅전 후불탱화로 경상북도 유형문화재 406호로 지정되어 있다. 이들 탱화들은 조선시대 삼세불화 연구의 기준이 되는 작품으로 귀중한 의미를 지닌다. 본 연구에서는 이들 탱화가 그려진 바탕직물의 섬유에 대해 현미경 관찰 및 용해법과 감쇠 전반사이용 적외분광분석법, 주사전자현미경 등을 이용하여 섬유의 재질을 동정하였다. 실험을 위해 보존처리과정 중 수거된 약사불 시료 2점(A, B), 석가불 시료 1점(C), 아미타불 시료 1점(D)을 채취하여 사용하였다. 본 시료들에 대해 기존의 문화재 명칭에는 삼베로 기록되어 있었다. 열화가 심하고 두꺼운 먼지층을 형성하고 있어 육안으로는 감별이 어려웠으나 본 실험을 통하여 약사불 시료1점(A)을 제외하고는 모두 견직물임을 알 수 있었다.

원유내 체세포수 측정을 위한 Fossomatic과 Coulter Counter 방법의 비교 (Comparison of Fossomatic and Coulter Counter Methods for Somatic Cell Count in Raw Milk)

  • Samples of bulk herd milk, foremilk, last milk (stripping) and individual cow sample were collected and their somatic cell number were counted with Fossomatic counter (FCC), Coulter counter(CC), direct microscopic somatic cell count(DMSCC) and Califormia mastitis test (CMT), The results were compared and summarized as follows : 1. Mean somatic cell counts of 120 bulk herd milk samples obtained by DMSCC, FCC and CC were 433,203, 481,213 and 676,245 respectively. 2. Mean somatic cell counts of 116 foremilk samples obtained by DMSCC, FCC and CC were 515,035, 611,845 and 725,051 respectively 3. Mean somatic cell counts of 87 last milk samples obtained by DMSCC, FCC and CC were 718,506, 839,874 and 1,041,160 respectively. 4. Mean somatic cell counts of 57 individual cow samples obtained by DMSCC, FCC and CC were 449,258, 491,018 and 521,315 respectively. 5. Mean somatic cell counts of all samples increased with the increasing CMT score, and the cell counts were higher by CC than by FCC. 6. The correlation coefficients between the somatic cell counts by CMT and CC were 0.926 in bulk herd milk, 0.707 in foremilk 0.688 in last milk and 0.675 in individual cow sample, respectively 7. The correlation coefficients between the somatic cell counts by CMT and FCC were 0. 945 in bulk herd milk, 0.705 in foremilk 0.694 in last milk and 0.727 in individual cow sample, respectively. 8. The correlation coefficients between the somatic cell counts by CC and FCC were 0.978 in bulk herd milk, 0.997 in foremilk 0.983 in last milk and 0.985 in individual cow sample, respectively.

Leptospira 속균(屬菌)에 대한 개와 쥐의 혈중항체조사(血中抗體調査) (Studies on leptospiral antibody in canine and murine species)

  • Investigation of Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae and Leptospira canicola in dogs was carried out from May, 1970 to March, 1971 in Korea. A total of 943 random samples from 18 animal hospitals in 9 cities were collected and sent to Taipei and tested by the rapid microscopic agglutination test giving the following results. 1. The 943 samples gave 141 positives (14.95%). 2. Among the 18 animal hospitals a total 14 positives were found, with 30.0% being the highest and 9.1% the lowest reaction, comparing each hospital. 3. Monthly positive comparison gave the highest reaction for December (31.3%) the lowest August (5.8%). Seasonal comparison June, July and August was the lowest of all four seasons. 4. Of all the 913 cases examined, males were 505 (55.3%) and females 408 (44.7%), which gives only a difference of about 10% on the basis of sex. Comparing positive reaction cases on the basis of sex gave a large difference, of almost twice. Male${\cdots}$92: Female${\cdots}$47 5. Comparing 436 (46.9%) sick dogs against 492 (53.1%) healthy dogs gave 13.3 and 16.1% positive respectively. Thus indicating that some of the healthy dogs have inapparent infection. 6. Comparing on the basis of positive serum type L. icterohaemorrhagiae gave 133 (54.7%) and L. canicola 110 (45.3%) Generally both L. icterohaemorrhagiae and L. canicola produce common reaction with positive serum. 7. Comparing by age a total of 89 positive cases gave the following results. less than 1 year${\cdots}$49 (55.5%) from 1 year to 2 years${\cdots}$26 (29.2%) from 2 year to 3 years${\cdots}$12 (13.5%) over 3 years${\cdots}$5 8. Among 80 field rats collected at Suwon and tested by rapid microscopic agglutination test for L. icterohaemorrhagiae and L. canicola gave all negative reactions.

감염성 질염에 대한 질내 산도측정, Amine 검사 및 현미경 검사의 진단적 가치 (Diagnostic Values of pH of Vaginal Discharge, Amine Test, and Microscopic Examination of Infectious Vaginitis)

  • 1987년 5월 1일부터 9월 31일까지 5개월간 영남대학교 의과대학 부속병원 산부인과외래에 내원한 환자 549예를 대상으로 질내 pH 검사, 아민검사, 생리식염수 및 10% KOH습식도말현미경검사를 시행하였다. 질염과 관련된 임상증상 및 소견과 이를 기초로 한 이학적 진단과 비교분석한 결과 다음과 같은 성적을 얻었다. 1. 각 감염성 질염에서의 질산도 측정 및 아민검사와 생리식염수 습식도말검사성적은 세균성 질염 환자군에선 질 pH 5.0 이상이 81.0%, 아만검사 양성이 62.8%, 유산균 감소 소견이 77.4%, 백혈구 감소가 70.1%이었으며, 트리코모나스 질염 환자군은 질 pH 5.0 이상이 93.3%, 아민검사 음성이 90.0%, 유산균 감소가 90.0%, 백혈구 증가가 93.3%이었다. 진균성 질염 환자군은 질 pH 3.0 또는 4.0이 83.2%, 아민검사 음성이 100%, 정상유산균 소견이 89.7% 및 정상백혈구 소견이 72.4%이었다. 2. 생리식염수 및 10% KOH 습식도말검사에 대한 이학적 진단의 정확도는 정상군이 77.6%. 세균성 질염군 26.3%, 진균성 질염군 47.5% 및 트리코모나스 질염군이 70.0%이었다. 질 pH 측정 및 아민검사에 의한 진단의 정확도는 정상 및 진균성 질염군이 83.2%, 세균성 질염군이 60.6%, 트리코모나스 질염군이 83.3%이었다. 3. 세균성 질염군에서 질 pH 3.0 또는 4.0 및 아민검사 음성을 나타낸 23예의 질상피 세포에 대한 clue cell의 비율은 10.0%이하가 12예, 20.0% 및 30.0%가 5예, 50.0%가 4예, 그리고 50.0% 이상이 2예이었다. 이상의 성적으로 외래에서 손쉽게 시행할 수 있는 질내 산도측정과 아민검사는 각 감염성 질염의 감염여부에 대한 screening과 감별진단에 유용한 것으로 사료되며, 생리식염수 및 10% KOH 습식도말검사에 이들 검사를 추가할 경우 진단의 신빙도를 높일 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 배양검사가 요구되는 환자의 선택에 있어서도 가치가 있을 것으로 추정되었다.

트럭용 커넥팅 로드 소재의 내부 품질에 따른 기계적 특성 연구 (A study on the Mechanical Characteristics by the Internal Quality of Connecting Rod Materials for Trucks)

  • We have studied internal quality including chemical compositions, microscopic structure and nonmetallic inclusion of test materials. We have analyzed tensile strength value, hardness value, impact value etc. In analyzing internal quality, all of the test materials showed typical ferrite+pearlite structure. But nonmetallic inclusion showed oxide and sulfide inclusions in medium carbon steels, and sulfide inclusion is S-free cutting steels. In ca+ S-free cutting steels, the calcium aluminate and sulfide complex inclusion had low-melting points as deformation of sulfide and oxide inclusion is existed. It was found that tensile strength and hardness give maximum value in medium carbon steels, where as minimum in Ca + -free cutting steels. But values of elongation, reduction of area impact are reverse. Fracture surface of impact specimen is ductile in free cutting steels but brittle in medium cabon steels.

자동차 차축 소재의 금속적 특징 및 밀링 절삭 특성 연구 (A Study on the Metrial Charcterisitics of Material Quality and Milling of Axle Materials for a Automobile)

  • In this paper, we have studied internal quality including chemical compositions, microscopic structure and nonmetalic inclusion of test materials. We have analyzed dynamic characteristics of cutting force of milling including tensile strength value, hardness etc. Test materials are used in the tempered carbon steel and the non-tempered carbon steel. The obtained results are as follows: 1. In analyzing internal quality, the tempered carbon steel have typical martensite structure and the non-tempered carbon steel have ferrite + pearlite structure. 2. Yield strength, tensile strength and hardness value are in the non-tempered carbon steel but elongation is maximum value in the tempered carbon steel. 3. Cutting force is smaller non-tempered carbon steel than tempered carbon steel when feed speed and depth on cut is constant. 4. Cutting force is smaller non-tempered carbon steel than tempered carbon steel when cutting speed and depth of cut is constant.

  • Microscopic examination for the morphological estimation of wear debris on the oil-lubrcated moving system is an accepted method for machine condition and fault diagnosis. However wear particle anaysis has not been widely accepted industry because it is dependent on expert interpretation of particle morphology and relies on subjective assessment criteria. This paper was undertaken to estimate the morphology of wear debris on the oil-lubricated movig system by computer image analysis. The wear test was performed under different sliding conditions using a wear test device made in our laboratory and wear testing specimen of the pin-on-disk-type was rubbed in pararline series base oil. In order to describe characteristics of debris of various shape and size, four shape parameters (50% volumetric diameter, aspect, roundness and reflectivity) have been developed and outlined in the paper. A system using such techniques promises to obviate the need for subjective, human interpretation of particle morphology in machine condition monitoring.
