Octa(2-ethylhexyloxy)copper-phnthalocyanine LB막의 NO$_2$ 가스 탐지 특성에 관한 연구 (A study on the NO$_2$ Gas Detection Characteristics of Octa(2-ethylhexyloxy)copper-phthalocyanine LB films)

  • It is well shown that the metallophthalocyanine (MPcs) are sensitive to tonic gaseous molecules such as NO$_2$ and also chemically and thermally stable. Therefore, lots of MPcs are studied for the potential chemical sensor for NO$_2$ gas using quartz crystal microbalance(QCM) or electrical conductivity. In this study, thin films of octa(2-ethylhexyloxy) copper-phthalocyaninc ware prepared by Langmuir-Blodgett method and characterized by using UV-VIS spectrascopy and cllipsometry. Transfer condition, film characterization, and preliminary results of current-voltage(I-V) characteristics of these films exposed to NO$_2$ gas as a function of film thickness will be discusscd.

  • Molecular self-assembled of surfactant viologen are of recent interest because they can from functional electrodes as well as micellar assemblies, which can be profitably utilized for display devices, photoelectrochemical studies and electrocatalysis as electron acceptor or electron mediator. Fromherz et al studied the self-assembly of thiol and disulfide derivatives of viologens bearing long n-alkyl chains on Au electrode surface[1]. The electrochemical behavior of self-assembled viologen monolayer has been investigated with QCM, which has been known as nano-gram order mass detector. The self-assembly process of viologen was monitored using resonant frequency(ΔF) and resonant resistance(R). The redox process of viologen was observed with resonant frequency(ΔF).

  • In order to overcome the weak actuation and relaxation problems during the deformation of IPMC actuator, polymeric anion (polystyrenesulfonate)-doped polypyrrole(Ppy(PSS)) was electrodeposited onto IPMC actuator. Electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance study showed that hydrated cations were instilled into Ppy(PSS) film and polymeric-anion dopants introduced during polymerization were not expelled. Ppy(PSS)-coated IPMC actuator formed two electrode/electrolyte interfaces, Pt/nafion and Ppy(PSS)/bulk solution, and additive volume expansion phenomena at interfaces induced the large deformation compensating the relaxation of actuation by back diffusion of water.

  • $CO_2$ separation from a flue gas by using the gas hydrate technology was suggested by Kang et al. They reported phase equilibrium conditions of mixed gases composed of $CO_2$ and N2 with THF as a thermodynamic promoter. In this study, we reported the phase equilibrium conditions of a mixed gas which had a realistic composition of the blast furnace gas (BFG) emitted from the steel-making process. The phase equilibrium measurements were done by using the "continuous" QCM method, and the results demonstrate that this method is efficient and as accurate as the conventional temperature search method.

  • In this paper, the response characteristics of organic gases were investigated by using quartz crystal microbalance(Q.C.M) with different polymeric sensitive materials. The new linear parameter was discussed in order to develope gas sensing system using neural network and pattern recognition. We analyzed the response characteristics by the area of resonant frequency shift of quartz crystal, which mean affinities of organic gases for polymeric sensitive firm. The experimental results shows that the parameter made by the area of frequency shift which was linear with injection amount of organic gases has possibility to be used for pattern recognition and neural network. And they have different normalized pattern.

Electropolymerized Thin Bilayers of Poly-5-amino-1-naphthol and Poly-1,3-phenylendiamine for Continuous Monitoring Glucose Sensors

  • A highly interferent-resistive membrane, poly-5-amino-1-naphthol (poly-5A1N), underlied beneath enzymeembedded poly-1,3-phenylendiamine (poly-m-PD) network for miniturized continuous monitoring glucose sensors. The enzyme layer was prepared from a mixed solution of glucose oxidase (GOx) and m-PD monomer by simple electrolysis. The mass change of poly-5A1N was monitored by electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM) in situ and the corresponding thickness was measured. Successive electropolymerization of poly-5A1N and poly-m-PD create a several tens nm-thick bilayer showing excellent selectivity for $H_2O_2$ and low activity loss of immobilized enzymes.

국산 Superalloy의 고온 산화 거동 (Isothermal Oxidation Behaviour of Domestic Superalloys at Elevated Temperature)

  • The isothermal oxidation behaviour of commercial superalloys produced in Korea was investigated by using Cahn-2000 microbalance in air at $1000^{\circ}C$ and $1100^{\circ}C$. The effect of alloying elements on the isothermal oxidation was studied by examination of the oxide structures, their morphologies, and EDS linescanning and mapping of cross-section of oxidized specimens. Generally, external Cr2O3 films were formed on all alloy surface, but were not pure, The effect on the oxidation behaviour of refractory elements such as Nb, Mo in Inconel 718 was considered to be deleterious, and the formation of internal Al oxide in Inconel 601 was beneficial.

  • Conducting polymer films grown from various aromatic compounds have been evaluated as overcharge protecting additives for lithium ion rechargeable batteries. The polymer films were grown electrochemically under the conditions similar to those encountered during the overcharging processes of lithium batteries and subsequently characterized by potentiodynamic, electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance, electrochemical impedance spectroscopic, and scanning electron microscopic experiments. Results indicate that bicyclic and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons would be poor candidates for inhibitors, while biphenyl, terphenyl, and benzene derivatives displayed excellent performances. Mixed polymer films grown from o-terphenyl and p-xylene show the best performance among the candidates.

  • Viologen has been extensively investigated in the paper because their well-behaved electrochemistry has led to their use in a variety of theses, including the electron acceptor for the electric charge delivery mediation of the devices. It was formed monolayer in QCM by self-assembly method. We could know the adsorbed mass of viologen molecules from the frequency shift. We calculated that the adsorbed mass was about 196 [$ng/cm^2$]. We studied the electron transfer property of viologen by the cyclic voltammetry among the electrochemical process so we changed an anion like 0.1 M $NaClO_4$ and $Na_3PO_4$ electrolyte solution and investigated the interrelationship between scan rate and peak current when scan rates were increased twice.
