Microstructure and Hardness of TiC Particle-reinforced Fe Self-fluxing Alloy Powders Based Hybrid Composite Prepared by High Energy Ball Milling

  • The Fe-based self-fluxing alloy powders and TiC particles were ball-milled and subsequently compacted and sintered at various temperatures, resulting in the TiC particle-reinforced Fe self-fluxing alloy hybrid composite, and the microstructure and micro-hardness were investigated. The initial Fe-based self-fluxing alloy powders and TiC particles showed the spherical shape with a mean size of approximately 80 ${\mu}m$ and the irregular shape of less than 5 ${\mu}m$, respectively. After ball-milling at 800 rpm for 5 h, the powder mixture of Fe-based self-fluxing alloy powders and TiC particles formed into the agglomerated powders with the size of approximately 10 ${\mu}m$ that was composed of the nanosized TiC particles and nano-sized alloy particles. The TiC particle-reinforced Fe-based self-fluxing alloy hybrid composite sintered at 1173 K revealed a much denser microstructure and higher micro-hardness than that sintered at 1073 K and 1273 K.

듀얼스테이지를 이용한 고정밀도의 하이브리드 밀링머신 (High Precision Hybrid Milling Machine Using Dual-Stage)

  • High precision machining technology has become one of the important parts in the development of a precision machine. Such a machine requires high speed on a large workspace as well as high precision positioning. For machining systems having a long stroke with ultra precision, a dual-stage system including a global stage (coarse stage) and a micro stage (fine stage) is designed in this paper. Though linear motors have a long stroke and high precision feed drivers, they have some limitations for submicron positioning. Piezo-actuators with high precision also have severe disadvantage for the travel range, and the stroke is limited to a few microns. In the milling experiments, the positional accuracy has been readily achieved within 0.2 micron over the typical 20 mm stroke, and the path error over 2 micron was reduced within 0.2 micron. Therefore, this technique can be applied to develop high precision positioning and machining in the micro manufacturing and machining system.

  • 최근 마이크로 엔드밀을 이용한 가공은 소형구조물이나 소형기계의 부품과 금형산업에서 양호한 표면 거칠기와 가공시간의 단축을 위해 고정도의 기술을 요구하고 있다. 마이크로 엔드밀을 이용한 가공에 있어서 가공조건은 절삭면의 표면거칠기에 커다란 영향을 미치게 된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 마이크로 엔드밀을 이용하여 스테인리스 강(STS 304)의 표면을 가공하였고, 실험계획법에 의해 최적의 표면거칠기를 얻기 위한 가공조건에 대해 분산분석하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 마이크로 엔드밀에 의한 가공에서 가공조건은 절삭깊이, 스핀들의 회전수, 이송속도의 순서로 표면거칠기에 영향을 미치는 것을 알았다.

Multi-axis Milling for Micro-texturing

  • The surface texture of a product is generally produced by etching or sandblasting. However, these techniques have problems related to repeatability and environmental pollution. Since current milling machines can produce small parts at the micrometer or nanometer level, the resolution of milling exceeds the manufactured dimensions of the surface texture produced by etching or sand-blasting. A method for generating surface texture by milling is proposed and demonstrated. The proposed method was demonstrated by actual milling using a three- or five-axis control machine, and the machined surface texture was measured with an interferometer to allow comparison with the designed shape. The measurement results demonstrate that the proposed method can generate a wide-area surface texture with good machining repeatability.

  • Recently, there are many studies for the micro-machining using Piezo actuator. However, because of its step-by-step motion, it is nearly impossible to increase the machining accuracy for a circular path. To increase the accuracy, it is well known that it is necessary the finer and synchronous movement for x-y axes. Therefore, this paper proposes an adaptive control for finer movement of the actuator, and realizes a synchronous control for the x-y axes. The experimental results show that the machining accuracy is remarkably improved.

Micro-EDM 공정을 이용한 미세 형상 가공 (Machining of Micro-scale Shapes using Micro-EDM Process)

  • With development of high advanced technologies and skills, micro machining techniques also are being more functional and smaller. Some of the recently developed micro machining technologies are micro drilling, micro EDM, WEDG, LBM, micro milling, micro UVM etc. In these micro machining techniques, Micro -EDM is generally used for machining micro holes, pockets, and micro structures in difficult-cut-materials. For machining micro structures, first of all, tool electrode should be fabricated by WEDG process. In micro-EDM, parameters such as peak current, pulse width, duration time are very important to fabricate the tool electrode and micro structures. Developed experimental equipments are composed of RLC circuit with PWM. In this paper, using developed micro EDM machine, the characteristics of micro electro discharge machining are investigated at micro holes, slot, and pocket machining etc. Also the trends of tool wear are investigated in case of hole and slot machining.

고성능 주입장비의 적용에 따른 주입재의 물성변화 및 주입효과 증진에 관한 연구 (The Physical Properties Variation of Grout Materials and Improvement of Grouting Effects on Application of High Performance Injection Equipment)

  • 용액형 주입재의 경우 침투성은 우수하나, 현탁액형 주입재에 비하여 강도와 내구성이 현저하게 떨어지기 때문에 지반강도증대 및 차수효과를 얻기가 어렵다. 그러므로 현탁액형 그라우팅의 침투성 향상과 경제성을 고려하여 현장에서 초미립화된 주입재를 제조하는 분쇄기술의 실용화가 절실히 요구되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 현장에서 적용될 수 있는 습식분쇄기를 이용하여 피분쇄물의 물시멘트비와 분쇄장비의 분쇄시간과 분쇄속도를 조정하여 최적분쇄능력을 파악하고 피분쇄물의 점도, 침투성 및 일축압축강도 등과 같은 제조인자별 물리적 특성을 평가하였다. 또한, 보통포틀랜드시멘트를 현장에서 초미립화 할 수 있는 마이크로 습식분쇄기와, 뭉쳐진 입자를 강제로 분리할 수 있는 고속전단믹서를 현장에 적용하여 전기비저항탐사와 변수위투수시험으로 주입효과의 변화를 검토하였다. 그 결과 침투효과가 대단히 우수하였고 고속전단믹서를 사용한 경우 주입재의 입자분리가 뛰어남을 알 수 있었다.
