  • In this paper, the New Space characteristics and response of micro & small satellite, and space industrialization strategy using domestic technologies are described. Recently, micro & small satellites are developed worldwide, including Starlink, having the characteristics of low-cost, light-weight and satellite constellation. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare for the constellation operation by considering the use of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) parts, satellite weight, shape and mass production. In particular, it is necessary to develop Multi Input Multi Output (MIMO) technology in consideration of the frequency interference during constellation operation, and to prepare and make efforts to secure frequencies in the government. Among the commercial-grade memories of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, the space-grade memory field using radiation tolerant memory and the high reliable packaging and space environment test technology has potential as a space industrialization strategy.

  • In this study, we investigated the design methods of satellite constellations to conduct near-real-time surveillance reconnaissance of the Korean Peninsula. Also, we designed satellite constellations utilizing the Walker-Delta method and repeat-ground-track method, and taking into account the target area and the feasible number of satellites. The constrains of the Electro-Optical and Synthetic Aperture Radar equipment were also considered in performance analysis. As a result, the designed constellation has mean revisit time of less than 30 min which enables near-real-time surveillance reconnaissance of the Korean Peninsula. This research provides the strategy to design the satellite constellation for reconnaissance. Furthermore, it contributes to suggesting an operating strategy for micro-satellites constellation and guidelines for establishing space force.

  • RF Micro switches is a miniature device or an array of integration devices and mechanical components and fabricated with Ie batch-processing techniques. RF Micro switches application area are in phased arrays and reconfigurable apertures for defence and telecommunication systems, switching network for satellite communication, and single-pole double throw switches for wireless application. Recently, RF Micro switches have been developed for the application to the milimeter wave system. RF Micro switches offer a substantilly higher performance than PIN diode or FET switches. In this paper, SPDT(single-pole-double-throw) switch are designed to use 10 GHz. Actuation voltage and displacement are simulated by tool.

  • Science and Technology SATellite-3 (STSAT-3) is science purpose satellite which weighs below 170kg. This is classified as small satellite or micro satellite more specifically. The launch vehicles (launchers) for small satellite has their own requirements for environmental interface. Since the small satellites are usually launched with cluster or multiple payloads, the selection option for appropriate launcher is limited. Therefore, the satellite should be designed with the consideration of environmental requirements of these launchers. In this paper, the environmental requirement of most candidated launchers for small satellite is summarized and give satellite environmental requirement to accommodate all launchers requirements.

  • Nowadays, the tracking technology of Quadrant Detector will become actual by new micro devices. Based on the past filed data of the reception experiment with COMETS satellite, we have studied on new device (AD8302, phase difference detector) was acquired and suspect its abilities. In 1998, we have developed a Quadrant Detector for mobile to track a weak signal from satellite on Ka band of COMETS. The Quadrant Detector is comprised of four dedicated feed components for reception under an environment of Nakagami - Rician fading, and one transmission and reception feed component. We were successful in receiving a 23 GHz beacon signal from ICE transponder of the COMETS and succeeded in tracking the satellite from a moving vehicle at speeds of approximately 10 ~ 20 Km/h on paved roads. In 2018, with new device AD8302, we have verified new QD system and performed a simulation, based on the past filed experiment. This new device shall be improving the tracking abilities from mobile body on the earth to the multimedia satellite.

  • A stepping motor is widely used to operate the elevation and azimuth stage of the X-band antenna with 2-axis gimbal system for effective image data transmission from a satellite to a ground station. However, such stepping motor also generates an undesirable micro-vibration which is one of the main disturbance sources affecting image quality of the high-resolution observation satellite. In order to improve the image quality, the micro-vibration isolation of the X-band antenna system is essential. In this study, the low rotational stiffness isolator has been proposed to reduce the micro-vibration disturbance induced by elevation direction operation of the X-band antenna. In addition, its structural safety was confirmed by the structure analysis based on the derived torque budget. The effectiveness of the design was also verified through the micro-vibration measurement test.

  • As an integrated technology with IT and biomedical sciences, U-health offers various healthcare services without time and space limit. In order to make a proper diagnosis, doctors need two key technologies: biosignal measurement and high reliability communication technologies. In this paper, we introduce an implementation process of a bio signal system with using an electrocardiography(ECG) sensor, video, global positioning system(GPS), communication module and micro controller unit(MCU).

  • The FORMOSAT-3/COSMIC mission is a micro satellite mission to deploy a constellation of six micro satellites at low Earth orbits. The final mission orbit is of an altitude of 750-800 lan. It is a collaborative Taiwan-USA science experiment. Each satellite consists of three science payloads in which the GPS occultation experiment (GOX) payload will collect the GPS signals for the studies of meteorology, climate, space weather, and geodesy. The GOX onboard FORMOSAT -3 is designed as a GPS receiver with 4 antennas. The fore and aft limb antennas are installed on the front and back sides, respectively, and as well as the two precise orbit determination (POD) antennas. The precise orbit information is needed for both the occultation inversion and geodetic research. However, the instrument associated errors, such as the antenna phase center offset and even the different cable delay due to the geometric configuration of fore- and aft-positions of the POD antennas produce error on the orbit. Thus, the focus of this study is to investigate the impact of POD antenna parameter on the determination of precise satellite orbit. Furthermore, the effect of the accuracy of the determined satellite orbit on the retrieved atmospheric and ionospheric parameters is also examined. The CHAMP data, the FORMOSAT-3 satellite and orbit parameters, the Bernese 5.0 software, and the occultation data processing system are used in this work. The results show that 8 cm error on the POD antenna phase center can result in ~8 cm bias on the determined orbit and subsequently cause 0.2 K deviation on the retrieved atmospheric temperature at altitudes above 10 lan.
