  • Recently, the demand of high-productivity injection mold increases since the consumption of packaging grows in the world. Stack mold is composed of more than two molds and it has very high productivity and economic efficiency. In this study, stack mold was developed to improve productivity of vehicle fixed weather strip with TPV materials and to investigate the characteristic of injection molding using CAE.

고주파 유도가열을 사용한 급속 금형가열에 관한 연구 (A Study on Rapid Mold Heating System using High-Frequency Induction Heating)

  • Rapid mold heating has been recent issue to enable the injection molding of thin-walled parts or micro/nano structures. Induction heating is an efficient way to heat a conductive workpiece by means of high-frequency electric current caused by electromagnetic induction. Because the induction heating is a convenient and efficient way of indirect heating, it has various applications such as heat treatment, brazing, welding, melting, and mold heating. The present study covers an experimental investigation on the rapid heating using the induction heating and rapid cooling using a vortex tube in order to eliminate an excessive cycle time increase. Experiments are performed in the case of a steel cup mold core with various heating and cooling conditions. Temperature is measured during heating and cooling time, from which appropriate mold heating and cooling conditions can be obtained.

미세 폴 구조물 가공을 위한 마이크로 앤드밀링 기술 (Micro End-milling Technology for Micro Pole Structures)

  • In the case of fabricating micro pole structures such as column, square-pole and gear shaft by the micro end-milling process, it can be useful in the fields of industry, for example, micro parts, electrode for electrical discharge machining and micro mold for injection molding. In this study, machining factors and the process were analyzed. Machining experiments of various micro pole configurations were performed. Analysis of the change and effect of the cutting force according to the machining conditions was carried out. An analytical study of the deformation of the micro pole caused cutting conditions and cutting force through the finite element method and ANSYS program was carried out. As a result, this research presented a method of fabricating the column pole of below $100{\mu}m$ diameter with high aspect ratio by using micro end-milling process, and based on that, a method of fabricating a variety of applicable structures. Also the minimum size of the pole capable of fabricating through theory and experiment were demonstrated.

  • We injection molded a plate with micro surface features including micro prizms & micro channels patterns on its surface and investigated the replication of the micro features depending on the mold temperature which is one of typical process parameters. The size of the patterns were 8um, 10um, 15um of prizm features & 15um, 30um, 45um of channel features. The size of the plate is about $400mm{\times}400mm$ and the thickness is 1mm of plate. the repliction of the mucro features turned out to depend on the mold temperature and also the location on the plate. The pressure and the feature of the melt in the cavity were also measured in real-time for the investigation on the micro feature replication.

  • To investigate the flow related to the mixing, micro PIV measurements were performed in the middle plane of the channel. A passive micro mixer analyzed in this work has been designed in the shape of a three-dimensional microchannel and fabricated with PDMS molding process by KAIST. The mixing performance was evaluated for different flow rates using phenolphthalein and sodium hydroxide solutions. Results show that mixing is enhanced by the increase of flow rate, which yields stronger secondary flows with helical streamlines.

  • 최근 고품질 제품 생산을 위한 방법으로 센서를 이용한 사출공정모니터링 시스템이 적용되고 있다. 그러나 마이크로 금형, 광학용 금형 및 구조가 복잡한 금형에는 센서 설치가 어렵기 때문에, 공정 모니터링 시스템이 적용되기 어려운 단점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 금형과 사출성형기 노즐의 압력 을 측정하여 공정 모니터링 데이터의 정량적 지수를 정의하고, 성형품 중량에 대한 상관분석을 수행하여 노즐에 설치된 압력센서의 공정모니터링 적용성을 알아보았다. 또한 공정모니터링 데이터를 분석하여 다단사출속도, 보압 및 제한 사출 압력의 영향에 따른 사출성형기의 공정 제어 특성도 알아보았다.
